Latest and Greatest Spa Products
It’s hard enough keeping up with the latest cell phones and mp3 players, much less trying to figure out the endless stream of new beauty products and spa treatments claiming miracle results. Here’s where we let you in on our favorite new finds—be it a high-tech new machine or must-have new cream—and break down how, and why, they work.
If you haven’t been totally faithful to sunscreen this summer, never fear: Just in time to treat sun damaged skin—as well as wrinkles, scars, discoloration and a host of other conditions—Alma Lasers has introduced the HarmonyPixel Skin Resurfacing procedure. Launched in June at the Juva MediSpa in New York City, the HarmonyPixel treats skin more quickly than the standard lasers, and with relatively no pain and no downtime. In fact, clients can be out on the town just hours after a session, and no numbing or pain relief agents need to be employed like with conventional lasers.
Using a patented new technology, the machine gently removes damaged tissue from the skin, resurfacing small areas but leaving the surrounding skin intact—which makes for a quicker
healing time. The combination of the laser and heat also triggers collagen remodeling and production in the skin, which in turn helps fill out wrinkles, tighten sags, and minimize fine lines, sun damage, acne scars and other imperfections. The HarmonyPixel can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands—more places than other machines—and most clients typically require three or four short sessions over the course of a few weeks. Because of the laser’s cutting edge technology, clients are also free from side effects like hyper-pigmentation, swelling or edema, which are sometimes associated with older machines. Instead, skin just looks clear and rejuvenated.
