We were looking forward to a weekend away. The golfing was great, but overpriced. I thought it was $79 for two golfers. It was $79 a person. We had people on our tail the entire time, then could not find the rest of the course after hole 9, got lost, and returned back early. We booked a room at the Tower. It was very costly, but a beautiful room. Just as we are settling in we pull back the covers to stained sheets. I was so grossed out we had to leave. We tried calling housekeeping and the front desk but no one answered. We went down to the front desk and told them we were leaving. They did give us a full refund. I was surprised to find poor housekeeping when the hotel had been so deserted. I was disappointed by the outcome of the entire weekend.
Beautiful place! Great service, with friendly and helpful staff! Had an excellent time!

Great spa, great staff. Great deals for locals in the off season.
Great amenities. Nice place to spend a snowy weekend.
Over priced but a good place for a large conference. Food is excellent
I like food a lot and there weren't many good food options. Many restaurants were either not very good, fairly overpriced, or both. The resort itself is nice and there is a good pool area with slides and a hot tub, as well as a casual table tennis table and many indoor tennis courts which are clean and nice. I haven't tried their golf or other amenities besides the ones I listed. The rooms were also decent. Pretty standard and okay. Some of my friends had room service and they said it wasnt bad (although I didn't try it)
The staff is amazing the rooms are beautiful, highly recommend the Bay view tower room.
My daughter and her family stayed here this weekend. The room was lovely, spacious and well appointed. They had a blast in the indoor pool. It was the first day of The Den. The Den has axe throwing, bowling, VR games, an escape room and some arcade games. It also has a small bar and food. We has the fries and a pizza. Both were fantastic.
Had some issues. Was taken care of but. Disapointed it happened.
We had a couples massage it was overall pretty nice. Wish there were more signs or a better tour of the way the spa/pool was laid. My fiance said there was no towels in the men's locker room, however the woman's had plenty.

Five stars for sure everything is awesome! I wish I lived closer I'd go there more often
Fantastic Resort! Spent 4 days here for a conference and was very impressed with the venue, staff, food and amenities! I'll definitely be back with my family.
Did not have a good experience with the room we had while staying here. The first night we had what appeared to be bread crumbs and other food debris in the bed sheets. Second night we came back to the contents of the bathroom garbage can being left out on the kitchenette sink. We had a lunch at the bistro where members of our party experienced a wait of almost two hours to get our food done, and most of it was either undercooked or unfinished. We felt bad for the service staff who had to constantly be apologizing to customers over issues. We ended up getting our meal for free, but it was not our intention to do so. As well, while in the pool facility a gentleman experienced a serious injury while on the slide hemorrhaging on the equipment. The slide and pool remained open with children still using the slide for at least 30 minutes after the injury occured. Finally the lifeguard closed the pool, while staff attended to the injured man and the slide. Even before this incident the pool area had minimal staff, with only one lifeguard on duty to cover two large pools. And very poor sight of the situation. Unfortunately when I bought up our grivences to the staff they seemed disinterested at best. While I have no way to be sure if my issues were addressed after I left, I would be surprised if they were taken seriously. I would not recommend this location to anyone, unless you are only coming for daytime events. Find a different place to stay, and drive to the resort.
Great place to stay and see Traverse City sights.
Nice staff everywhere. Room felt tired and dated; bed footrail was really beat up and missing pieces. In-room coffee is horrible. They have some rooms with walk-out patios which I love. Go there every couple of years for a conference. If it hadn't been so cold would have enjoyed some of the amenities.
I WOULD DO ZERO STARS BUT ITS NOT AN OPTION. Well some may say its a family resort. But they don't care at all about the health of the little ones. We stayed with them for a few days. While we were they a clock fell of the way and hit our 2 year old daughter in the head. We spent several hours in the ER that night with her. We talked with the manager the very next morning since we didn't get backntill 1030 and had to try to put our 2 year old daughter to pulled. The very next morning talked to the manager about it. He said they would take care of our bill for the stay at the resort which didn't happened and said they property manager would get ahold of us. Which one week later he did. We filled out a accident report with security and they even said that the resort was at fault and the GM will be in touch with us on Monday WHICH NEVER HAPPENED. To get to the point over 2 weeks has past and they are acting like it was no big deal for our 2 year old daughter to get a concussionon they property and been giving us the run around on paying the ER bill. Any human being you would like to believe would do the right thing and help us with our daughter's ER bill and stand behind there manager who said they would take care of us. I WOULD NOT TAKE MY FAMILY BACK OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR FAMILIES. THEY AREN'T A FAMILY FRIENDLY PLACE AT ALL.
Resort and pool were nice. Stayed in the valley view condos, they were clean, but pretty dated. We had a discounted rate for a robotics event, which was fair, but I'd have been disappointed if it's had to pay full price.
For being a 3 star resort, the rooms were filthy and outdated. Our tub didn't even drain and it was very dirty (I reported that and they sent a nice man with a toilet plunger to unclog it). I posted pictures to back my claim. The one saving grace was, after reporting all these problems at check out they offered to deduct a percentage off my stay.
It was a very cool place. I love the pool and little shops. I even got to take to and see a senator!!! He was really nice.
They people were nice, but nice goes only so far when they're also incompetent. Our check in time was at 4 and we didnt get a room until 6. They came into our room when we put a Do Not Disturb sign on the door. The only thing that helped was this amazing waiter named Lance. He was amazing.
We are staying in the tower on the 12th floor. Beautiful veiw of the lake. The room is small but beautiful. Not dated at all. The beds are amazingly comfortable which suprised me the most. On the down side, there are three elevators and a rather large group of some younger adult guests were very inconsiderate... While we waited a considerable amount of time for the doors to open, they just came up not even considering that we had been waiting for a while and tried to get on the elevator. After eating at one of the "bistros" at the resort, Im amazed that they keep this kitchen manager in there. Its a shame the such a beautiful resort has such a terrible restaurant...the food was awful... The pool area was nice but strict. You have to sign in to use it. There are 2 hot tubs but one is outside "adults only" because its too hot for children..as if I cant be the one to decide whats too much for my child. The other hot tub is luke warm. One of the pools is ice cold and the warm pool is no fun...I guess you cant have your cake and eat it too... So...all in all, Im ready to go home so I can stop hemorrhaging money. This "vacation" has been less than desirable.
I was a bit disappointed overall. When we arrived at our golf village condo, service forgot that we requested a baby pack n play along with extra bed sheets for the fold out bed. The tv did not work until we called service (again). The destination EV chargers at the main hotel were blocked by ICE/gas vehicles, and of course the resort has no balls to have the vehicles towed. Food is about as expensive as you would expect from a resort.
Tennis facility has 5 indoor courts, friendly staff and excellent service!
Beautiful place, great shops, great restaurants! Absolutely loved the french fries at Jack's Taproom. The rooms in the tower are great only thing to make them better would be a mirror outside of the bathroom. Difficult to get ready when the bathroom is occupied. Beds were very comfortable.
Rooms are tiny, staying here for valentine's weekend hockey tourney. Will not be doing that again. You only get full size beds unless you want to be shuttled in....
Offers one of the best views of our beautiful area; great indoor tennis and pool; go for meetings and larger conferences.
Loved it! Would've been 5 star if they had little refrigerators in their rooms. Otherwise it was Awesome!
1st room was dirty, very dusty behind the beds and in corners. We were moved to another room. Room was okay but there was a domestic argument in the room next to us. We reported it, but it kept us up all night (yelling screaming, banging on doors, etc,) Did not get much sleep, and missed one activity we were supposed to do because we needed to sleep. When we spoke to hotel later were were tole "Sorry this happened but it is not our fault." At checkout when they asked about our stay and we told them, we were offered a free cup of coffee, which was ridiculous and we did not accept. Also, Sunday there was a snow storm, hotel closes down every Sunday. You can get snacks at the sports bar, everything else closed all day....really, at a resort??
We stayed here 2 nights for a work event. The staff was friendly and professional. Our room was very clean and most importantly the mattresses were extremely comfortable. There was a small issue with our final bill but it was quickly resolved. Definitely recommend staying here.
Had our work Christmas party here. Beautiful hotel. Event rooms. Staff is helpful. Please was real nice, and clean - but then again I had a tower room. From what i hear my coworkers who stayed in the "old hotel" side were not quite as satisfied.
The almost life size gingerbread house and holiday decorations are worth a visit during the holidays!
Excellent facilities , service. Wonderful ambience.
Special Olympic winter games make me long for days I could come to relax and enjoy facility!
Brad & Jen C.
Once again, GTR has made a spectacular welcome for my Special Olympics athletes. Special Olympics State Winter Games athletes are overtaking the resort and we are here to represent! We thank you Grand Traverse Resort staff for your warm greetings annually. ??????
I love this place. So much to do there. A little pricey but Awsome place to go.
I only went to the spa with a group of friends. They were very accommodating and everyone loved their services. Highly recommend if you are in the traverse city area and need to relax. The Ambre Experience was great with a full body scrub and warm showers, then it ends with a massage.
The resort has really improved since I was a kid. Lots of attention has gone into the lobby and the rooms. Great golfing if you like to golf and the restaurants on site are fantastic as well. Its a great place to have a conference.
The food was good, the drinks were excellent and the staff was friendly !
Everything was amazing.. very nice place to come..
Daycare across hallway so my daughter and i can enjoy and so can granddaughter
I had a great time presenting at the 2019 TC Chamber Business Expo! I was a bit crunched for time & somehow failed to bring a power strip to power the digital signage for the booth we were presenting from. I told the resort that I had made a mistake and they had what I needed hand delivered to our booth within a few minutes. I felt compelled to share how great my customer experience was, thanks to you everything went smoothly that day!
First class, beautiful hotel, restaurants and shops.
Great room comfortable bed. Pillows OK. Grand children played in the pool. Nice.
Good but unfortunately never been during summer.
Great service, the restaurants had really good food but the whole resort could use an update including the rooms. For that kind of money they charge, the rooms and bathrooms better be a few years old. Currently you could find someone's lost fanny pack from 1992 in any of the rooms.
The condo that we have rented were smelling, we saw some bugs in the kitchen area. I won't rent from them anymore.
It was really fun! There was a indoor pool and outdoor pool along with hot tubs. There is a lot of stores in the main floor. There's a casino at the top but im under 18 so i cant go.
Clean rooms and great staff.
Ate dinner in the tower, at Aerie Restaurant.. spectacular view of sunset over Lake Michigan. Excellent food and service. Enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you Adam .. loved our date night ??
Beautiful setting..great resort!
Perfect for the conference we were at
Very large clean resort with all the amenities. Quite far from Traverse City, close to casino, great golfing, great pool and other activities, too notch salon. Room could use some updating. Large banquet halls available.
Tribal Christmas party. Not much else to say on that subject.
The best thing I can say about this is you get what you pay for. Peeling wallpaper, hair in the shower. Loud partying crowds. Maybe we just caught it on a bad night. I'd rather stayed at Turtle Creek.
Fantastic Family friendly Resort! There is an Arcade and pool slide for the kids, aswell as several Bars for the adults. Food is 10/10.
My husband and I are currently staying in a Valley View condo at Grand Traverse Resort. While the staff are very nice, we are still disappointed. The hallway has terrible accustics, which makes everything echo and very loud. The door through the tunnel (which is just down the noisy hallway) slams every time someone goes through, which is often. The heating is super loud. The room needs updating. The kitchen towels and placemats are covered in food. And the worst thing is the water. It is smells and tastes of strong sulphur. We would not stay here again.
Really great experience and value. The lobby seemed renovated since my last visit. Connor put us in a high floor, bay view room away from the elevators. Room was really nice with awesome views and also seemed completely renovated. Comfortable bed and HVAC that allowed for always-running fan for nighttime comfort. Outdoor hot tubs hit the spot and onsite food and drink options were very convenient. We extended our stay and will return again.
Outstanding service and amenities. Can highly recommend enjoying a cocktail in the rooftop lounge with a lovely view of the East Bay.
Our overall experience was great. But for the amount we paid for the room it could have had a refrigerator in our room. We also had an event the next day. And the food was amazing and the staff did a great job.
Company Christmas Party - Always a great venue at GT Resort. Lots of venues going on so there wasn't enough parking but did offer a shuttle
Great company Christmas party. Excellent food. ????
Great place for multiple family types.
Munson retired lunch was.wonderful. Excellant.food..very attentive wait staff
Always classy! The food was AMAZING at the Christmas party
In desperate need of updating stayed in tower has a noise of pump or something kicking in every 15 minutes or so walls to rooms very thin lots of noise,no sleeping there. I would not recommend this place at all!
Beautiful accommodations, friendly desk, kiosk, and store employees. Conference needs were handled beautifully.
Amazing service, amazing food. I highly recommend!
Always great stay love the resort weather its winter or summer it is nice. Nice food choices and stores in hotel.
Such a lovely place. Stayed in the hotel because we felt the tower was overpriced. Room was a little dated, would've liked to have a fridge, but still a good value! Loved the facility and the staff we encountered. Would eat dinner in the Aerie, and eat breakfast off the menu at the restaurant downstairs. The bell staff was first rate & our bellhop had plenty of suggestions about the area. Enjoyed losing my $30 at the black jack table. Would stay here again & would recommend this hotel! Thank you for separating our girlfriend's weekend & hockey tournament guest! That was a huge plus! Hockey families were super nice, but shouldn't be expected to accommodate our boomer girlfriend's weekend! So, nice that was taken into consideration when assigning rooms! Truly lovely experience we had here!
Very upscale, great food and atmosphere.
Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Aerie restaurant did not meet expectations.
Had a blast from my past here , will be back many more times . Oh actually I will Dec.11 a retire Christmas party yeah
Excellent service, food and room!
So relaxing, good service and wonderful Thai massage therapist work!!
Waste of time and money. We’ve been purchasing a seasonal membership for the last 5+ years and in the last two years the facilities have become outdated and poorly maintained. They also recently changed their policy, where guests are only allowed 5x and must pay a $10 fee. My membership started in November and almost every time I come the hot tubs are dirty, low on water, barely warm, the jets broken, or the hot tub is just shut down. I drive out of my way and half the time just end up going home, after being charged a fee for my guests and driving out of my way to use my very overpriced membership.
This place has everything you need if you you want to stay put, especially during the summer. If you feel like venturing out, it's slightly less than a 15 minute dive to downtown Traverse City.
Kenny and Alicia are fantastic, been going to them for the last 8 years. Very highly recommend!
Scenery beautiful, clean, and accessible to traverse cities downtown. Shuttles to casino a great bonus
Great resort! Awesome functions like the Great Beard Run will keep people coming back.
Scenic and peaceful
By far the best massages and spa anywhere in Northern Michigan
Very nice but for the richer $$$ crowd
Nice rooms, nice hotel meeting space
I do not understand why an establishment that is supposed to be a resort (full service) wouldn't have refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms. To charge for every little accommodation you would want in stead of just being a resort and offering it. People have dietary needs you dont accommodate at the restaurants offered or babies with their personal food to store. If you want to be cheap and not update the rooms to make them hotel standard let alone resort standard, then don't charge 25$ to get a min fridge (if it's available) when you clearly are just taking advantage of accommodation you should have already in the rooms. Not to mention the website is no help. I tried to look up my reservation with what kind of room I had and what was included, and that was impossible.
What a disappointment this experience was. I recommend staying at the days inn in traverse city over this place. Took my gf here for a birthday surprise getaway. I was promised a room high up with a view. When we got there they gave us a dirty room on floor 6 over looking....The Parking Lot. After waiting another half hour they gave us a better room on floor 14. Then the next day I asked to make a reservation at the the restaurant on top and was told they don’t open until 11. We couldn’t wIt so we ate somewhere else only to find out they are open at 10. We couldn’t get a straight answer at our anyone. I expect this out of a small motel but not this place. Try harder. Waist of money.
Decent brunch with great view
I've been here every year for the past 19 years! My family and I go up ever fall. Absolutely gorgeous, extremely hospitable, and super clean.
Just overwhelmed with the staffs friendly attitude
Great place to visit
Clean, welcoming and easy to find. We're here for a conference and it's been well run.
When you order a "fruits with basket of pastries" for in-room breakfast, you get this. I dont think they understand what a basket looks like. This hotel is basically an overpriced super 8 with golf and spa. Not even a microwave and fridge in bed.
We were in the condo area, which is a mile away from the hotel in the woods, only accessible by car. They did not reveal the difference between the hotel and the condo so we only found out about it when we got here. The condos are one bedrooms in old buildings with minimal amenities; for example, there was only two towels in the bathroom and the room was very cold. Considering it is in the woods there is no restaurants or anything else close by. They did provide shuttle service but there is no schedule to follow. The only thing comparable to this accommodation is a motel in rural Michigan, which would still be better because at least they don't lie about it. Very disappointed and frustrated at the deceptive practice.
Our first room was not clean (611) and the stairway was also nasty. The rooms in the tower are magnificent compared to all the other rooms. We originally were not placed in the towers. Once we were moved to the tower (955) the experience was completely different, even the airflow/ventilation system was different and the towels were folded so beautifully in the tower. The difference between the tower and the lower rate pricing was only 20 dollars minimum. You could also pay for the higher priced rooms which a friend had and that was also a very wonderful experience. The rest of the resort was nice, my only complaint was my first room and the stairway right beside it. Oh and the ice machine was broken on the 6th floor, with a handwritten sign directing us to go to the 4th floor for the nearest working ice machine. There was no refrigerator or nicrowave in that room either if those are things you are expecting in your room. There was a refrigerator in the room in the tower. I dont even have a photo of the first room which was not even picture worthy in comparison to the rooms in the tower
Parking lot doesn't have enough lights..very dark..no fridge or microwave in the room...not enough TV's for sports.. Football game on Saturday was on 4 TV's and World Series was on one small TV with no sound and a dim screen. I asked for them to change one tv and I was told no and kindly rudely. They just want to sell drinks and do not care about everyone that payed for a room.
Humberto Jr G.
My first time staying here and it was pretty misleading. The website had only pictures of the tower so I thought thats where my room was going to be. Well thats wasn't the case. I paid $250 for one night and they put me in a room that wasnt even in the tower. It was behind it. And it was just a little nicer than a motel 6. So, I was expecting a lot but got a little.
The best! Will come again!
A great place to stay.
Always a nice stay, very nice rooms. Very friendly and professional staff.
Not worth the price. Carpet is run down, caulk falling off walls, soap scum/mold in grout joints. Broken, leaking, sink faucet. Only had one working ice machine and only had refrigerators in their “newer, updated rooms” that cost another $70 dollars. Stores in lobby are outrageously overpriced. I’ve been to water park hotels that are overrun with constant children that are better kept than this “Resort & Spa”. I’m sure there’s are nicer places in the area. The pizza was good though.
Had an issue when we showed up but Collen went out of his way to make it a great stay! My wife and I had a wonderful time at the restore that was only 10mins from Dr travirse city. Again Collen had great knowledge on the restaurants and bars that we needed to try. Overall great resort for my 30th birthday.
Great gift shops, amazing views of the bay and trees if you take one of the glass elevators up to the top. Restaurant on 16th floor has 360 degree view.
Very nice accommodations and some of the friendliest staff around. The beds were so comfortable I got some well deserved relaxation. Also, they offer so many activities both at the resort and in and around town! Looking for something to do? Just ask anyone here.
Mel Blohm S.
We were there in October and had an o.k. experience. The rooms were clean, but a bit dated (we were on the second floor), the cafe barely had any food in the case, and no fridge or microwave in the room. The staff was nice, bars were o.k., Aerie was GREAT, downstairs brunch restaurant looked like a greasy spoon cafe, but had some pretty unique/tasty food (I'd recommend the croqe madam for breakfast), and grounds and golf course are beautiful. Some much needed updates would increase my rating for them.
Over rated. Over priced. In need of serious up date. Food just average
Sitting in a dark condo on the grounds with no electricity.
The rooms are older, but clean and pleasant enough. The location near all the fun stops in Traverse City is the real draw of this place!
Had a wonderful time
Being a taxi driver I frequently am here. I spent my wedding night and several other stays here. Everything has always been wonderful except one room service pizza on my wedding night. Excellent pool and spa area, the only downfall is the long walk from the tower to the spa. Tremendous conference areas and employees are always great
Payed less for more. Everything is overpriced
Accomodations were very nice. The view from the 10th floor was spectacular. The clogged drain in the shower prevented a fifth star.
Very elegant great food
It a pretty neat place to stay at with friends or a family. I personally like the golf course and the spa
The golfing amenities are awesome. The Bear was in excellent condition. As far as the lodging goes I wasn't impressed. I've had better rooms for less $$$. No microwave & refrigerator. The rooms were clean.
Clean friendly and spacious!! Would stay again!!!
Place is nice enough, but the rooms are overpriced. I wouldn't stay here if not for others who want to stay here.
Overall a great property. For the price certain things really bothered me. The bedding was bad. Horrible pillows and sheets. Had a massage which was not the best and way overpriced. The brunch was mediocre at best. The rooms were well appointed other than the bedding. Lots of nice shops to visit.
Will never stop or stay here again
We booked a king room with option to upgrade to the glass building king (assuming they are nicer?) Upgrade was not available when we arrived and we received a king room on the 4th floor. Room is very basic/outdated. We walked in to a light smell of dirty socks, kinda gross. The space has alot of brown colors. Bathroom wasn't so nice either, no light in the shower so it can be dark with the shower curtain closed. Bathroom countertop was really low (im not even tall) 32"? Overall we paid $245/night without fees for a clean bed and outdated hotel. Hotel is a three stars, room was a two stars. We will be staying somewhere else next time if the nicer rooms are not available.
Was there for a family wedding and all the rooms blocked were supposed to be lake view however my room was on the third floor and had a view of the asphalt overhang and the parking lot! Other than that the wedding was beautiful and the resort was amazingly
We really enjoyed our stay, we were here for our 4th wedding anniversary. Staff were very helpful, check in/ out was quick and easy. The room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom was very small though, the door backed up to the tub so it was a little tricky to get in, move behind the toilet, close the door and then hop in the shower. Decor is a little dated but still kept up well enough. A few things to consider: Standard rooms don't have fridges. We had planned to bring leftovers from our meal to snack on later and couldn't, I thought the room description specified that there was a fridge but I could be remembering wrong. The Resort is a good 15-20 minute drive from town, so this may not be the best choice for location if you are pressed for time. I also didn't realize that it's NOT on the beach, but that's my fault for not looking more closely. We did not take advantage of any of the "resort" features so we would probably not stay here again (in the summer). It's not worth the price unless you plan to swim, golf, and the spa, etc. BUT it would be a good choice in the colder months Definitely eat at Jack's Taproom while you're here, we liked it so much we came down every night for a midnight snack and a drink :)
Had a terrific mini facial at the spa
Great place old but updated still needs some work.
We stayed here for our 10yr anniversary had high expectations, stayed in the tower room it was very small, run down, bed was very uncomfortable, the attitudes from employees was very rude I will say there was one gentleman that did work at the front desk that did go out of his way to call our room and congratulate us we did appreciate that but will not be returning again.
Gina Love S.
Pool area is nice, rooms are clean and the staff is friendly
Awesome. I can't wait to visit again.
Grand golf resort. The tower rooms were awesome. The others, not as much. The restaurant experience in the tower was awesome. The bistro breakfast brunch, not as much. Golf was fantastic and the scenery unbeatable. Well worth the visit on your way to the upper peninsula or as a destination.
Had a fantastic family reunion. Plenty for everyone to do. Kids had a blast! Food was good.
More than we expected. Beautiful property. Excellent service.

The four stars are probably one too many but overall a good experience. This review is for the hotel side and conference center. The hotel rooms are just okay. The room felt dingy and was definitely outdated. Drop ceiling, really? Mildew and bathroom mook all over? $250 a night for a room that feels subpar compared to even a Super 8. Staff was really helpful, and the grounds and location are really well kept.
Rooms need updating
Real nice, kept up to date, comfortable beds, lot of thing to do at resort on poor weather days
Wonderful staff and beautiful grounds!! We loved staying here!
This is the first time we have been back in 10 years and it is obvious this resort has seen better days! The rooms are dirty, the bed was extremely uncomfortable. the decor is old and outdated and it is way overpriced. This resort needs to be totally renovated. It is obvious- no one is taking care of this place!!!

Great dinner and service.
This place is amazing. The entire town in fact. Highly recommend the resort. Yes the rooms are worth the cost. The restaurant on the top floor is worth it. Great food and views. Next time I will bring the kids. It's great as a family getaway or a romantic weekend
Nice place. We stayed in the tower. If you're a folder, this is the place for you.
Nice resort. But for the price there were some things lacking. The room could have been a little cleaner. The vending machines had issues with taking money and just not working right. Some of the games in the arcade took some of my kids money. There were several areas that needed maintenance. The staff was very nice. All in all an ok stay but the place looks like it needs some TLC here and there. Beautiful views all around, especially from the Aerie restaurant.
We recently stayed at this resort and not sure if ownership has changed and they cut budgeting but here's our experience. There is no room service, for your entire stay, because we were told they don't have any cleaning staff to do so for everyday room cleaning and yet you still get charged a resort fee. You have to call them to bring you towels. Staff is not friendly because they are probably overworked since their is less staff. Pool had dirty water and was freezing. Golf courses are great but other than that, management should look at training staff better and hiring people to clean rooms like hotels normally do
Clean friendly people
Great hotel and spa
I love going here for overnight getaways.
High quality accommodations but a little sleepy in comparison to other hotels.
Poor service but decent amenities and good golf. Overpriced for the rooms. Would only recommend for business or golf travelers. We stayed here for a family vacation. There were 14 of us with 4 rooms. The rooms were a bit dated and the air conditioning was very loud. The engineer was called but said nothing could be done. The website advertises a private beach club, which is nice but you have to drive or take a shuttle there. The employees issuing the water rentals were awesome. Website also advertises s'mores on the beach and music on Saturdays but that did not happen. The shuttle drivers for the beach were very friendly, except for an issue we had our last night. We called 4 times for a shuttle. Someone must have been trying to be funny because call #1 we were told he couldn't get us as he was "chillin on the couch" call #2 said no one could get us because no one was there. Call #3 was a voicemail for the golf shop and finally call 4 they got us. The morning we left we were refused a luggage cart when we asked to load it ourselves as we wanted to load it as we packed. The pools were nice and good for kids. The option of indoor pool was nice too. My husband is a golfer and loved the 2 courses he played. The supervisor did try to make things right during check out.
Motel 6 with a fancy lobby run by stoned teenagers. Tonight is my last night in this “resort”. We stayed four very long nights here with our family. Our first night our room was so hot. So we turned on the ac only to be met by a monstrous sounds from a 50 year old unit. So loud it woke our daughter up. It rattled and screamed until we had to just turn it off and suffer in the heat. When I talked to the front desk in the morning. The 17 year old girl let us know someone would be up. A technician said he would change the filter but “they old so ???????????“. Next day we went to the “beach”. Which was basically an oversized sandbox. The water was beautiful and the company who runs the rentals is amazing. But this is not a beach. Oh and it’s not near the resort like the website claimed. You take a shuttle. Fine. It fine. I thought. We had lunch at a nice place and brought back our leftovers. Only to realize the room does not have a mini fridge. But never fear, you can rent one for 20$. Ok. Wow. Anyways. The food for breakfast is overpriced and disgusting. The food at jacks. Is disgusting. But fine. Let’s go to the beach. Last day. The website says. There is s’mores and live music at the beach. We bring all the kids. Pump them up for this extravaganza. Nothing happens. We ask the beach people they say. “Oh the resort is doing it up at the resort” ummmmmm what? It’s a beach party I thought. We call the resort. “On the beach people never do that because they are too lazy” fine. We let the kids know. Have a semi enjoyable time. Then try to get a shuttle back. Only to be met with a stoned teenager on the other end of the phone who tells us. He’s “chilling on the couch. Call back later”. I mean ive already written too much. If you’ve gotten this far you know to never EVER book here.
When we originally booked, we were put into a room in the "traditional" wing of the hotel. The room was fine, but it looked a little outdated and didn't seem worth the amount of money. I ended up rebooking into a condo in Valleyview, and it was well worth it. It did cost additional money, but having a separate bedroom and a kitchenette, it made our stay much better. The hotel did a great job putting us into a different room.
We had a great room in the tower but we had the Golf course view not the water view. Customer service was mixed at the resort.
Great alternative to Great Wolf Lodge. Much cheaper for a family. Has a water slide. Just watch out for the pool and hot tub, its on the high side for chlorine. We had a couple kids get sick from the hot tub when the jets turned on. Our eyes burned and two kids ended up throwing up.
Beautiful rooms and fun pool area
Not a good experience. When booking room on phone I was told we were within walking distance from ocean, we were not. Its 1.5 miles away and across a hwy. Restaurants were just ok, very overpriced and selection of food was limited. They were understaffed so would not clean your room unless you had been there for 4 days or more. Ordered room service waited 2 hours for food, finally called and found out they didnt have the order. Also expected it to be in traverse city because of the name but was actually outside the city. Outdoor Pools were small and outdated. Golf course looked nice, grounds were pretty well kept and room was comfortable but too many negatives to recommend.
Resort used to be premier in area but is getting run down. Needs some TLC. My husband even saw a mouse one morning.
Favorite resort in area but years have taken toll. Some areas unsightly like carpet pulling up and bathrooms need renovating and overall cleanliness could improve. My husband even saw a mouse in the lobby on Saturday morning! Not enough done to keep in paying visitors out of pools and such.
Would not reccomend, drove 4 hrs to enjoy a anniversary with my wife, upon arrival no service and no information,.. later in the evening my wife and i sat down at dinner to later find out they messed up our reservation and the hotel had to hand deliver my meal vouchers("do not disturb package"). Then i get woken up early by housekeeping, i told her i payed for late checkout and go back to sleep, then woken again by management who did not believe me, long story short areie was delicious only vantage point here, minus the long cob webs hanging from dining ceiling. The black mold in the rooms is unhealthy which is caused by the exhaust fans in bathrooms that do not operate and the leaking water from sinks.. dry wall patch holes everywere, love the city avoid this place suppose to be a special event and was ruined. No info on beach activities, poor management , and housekeeping not to mention the walls are very thin you can hear curtains opening and closing with in other rooms as well as everything else
Stayed for a conference. Loved the room! Hotel was nice. Rooms were updated. With the restaurant on floor 16 was open a little later on Friday’s. Clean. Had a shuttle to go to casino. Went on wine tour from hotel. Indoor and outdoor spa.
Room was not great. The bathroom was a joke they had mini toilets you sat down but couldn't get up. The beds were very high and soft. Wife is only 5' tall the mattress was up to her waste. Making the reservations I told them I will be needing a handicap room This was know handicap room, we check out early.
We contracted bed bugs in our clothes and the additional cost was over $2500- with no exaggeration! We stayed here during the 4th of July weekend for a getaway- never again! The quality of the rooms were below average - after spending over $1,000 for 3 overnights- but we figured it was the holiday and we wanted an escape from Chicago. Truly enjoyed the traverse city area, lakes, wineries and friendliness of the resort area. As for our hotel and the management- poorly run- in denial and the management we experienced after complaining about having contracted bed bugs will hurt their business. We checked in on a Thursday and after returning to Chicago on Sunday night- there were no signs that we could notice. However by Tuesday, we were separately experienced excessive scratching and had bites on our bodies each morning for three days. On Wednesday through Thursday the bites and scratches started to worsen. On Sunday morning we compared notes and realized we were both having problems until my wife noticed a crawling bug in our bed. We captured it, went on line and discovered we had BED BUGS! We spent the entire day researching online what happens when it enters our home and gets into our clothes. This meant we had an entire week where these tiny unwanted creatures had invaded our home What a nightmare- Google "Bed Bug Report- Grand Traverse Resort". We were convinced that this hotel had previous problems given the reports of 2014. Fact- Grand Traverse Resort had complaints of bed bugs in previous years. After further examination we did find two distinct bed bugs on two beds from two rooms. Our nightmare got worse. After contacting numerous pest control agencies, and having to take off work on Monday and Tuesday to seek a resolve, we spent 3 days dealing with - 1) Hiring Orkin to assess and treat our two bedroom condo- and spending $1600 to treat and try to rid our home of these blood sucking creature. 2) We contacted the hotel only to be transferred to a supervisor on duty to discuss our concerns to no avail. The supervisor immediately denied having bed bugs, refused to take down our documented names and stay, and wanted to patch us into security. He was not only defensive but dismissive. 3) My wife insisted on contacting the GM of the GTRS- Scott Firman, and gave him details of our stay, including photos of the bed bugs found. The GM agreed to investigate and follow up after providing him with proof of our stay, room and experience. By Tuesday, we received a call from Mr Firman who then denied having bed bugs and said we must be mistaken. When asked if he is aware of 2014 reports of bed bugs, he denied knowing about it and continued that his hotel is mistaken. Since we had not problems of any kind before leaving town but only upon our return from this apparently unclean and irresponsible hotel- clearly in denial, we resorted in eating all costs. The GM offered no remedy or admitted nothing. As of this review 7/17/19- We have finished treatment at our condo for bed bugs. We had to bag all clothes throughout our home by washing clothes in extremely hot water and drying all clothes on high temperature for 40 minutes. The hassle and expense is more than overwhelming to say the least. After treatment, Orkin provides a special mattress cover which must be left on all beds for over a year to insure that any remaining bed bug eggs cannot hatch or possibly left in the mattress. Orkin guarantees 30 days- no more. Summary- We would never stay at this hotel again and can only warn others to do the same. At no time did we request, need or demand a refund for this bed bug nightmare. Not once did we ask the hotel to reimburse us for the expense or disaster experience, Not once did Grand Traverse Resort and Spa admit to their past problems with bed bugs. Not once did the hotel management take responsibility or admit to their room problems. This stay cost us over $3500 not to mention having to spend three days to clean and sterilize all laundry and cleaner clothes. BOTTOM LINE- BEWARE OF BED BUGS!
I booked a room/dinner package in the tower on the upper floor. Spoke to the front desk twice before checking in. Ended up on the bottom floor of the tower the first day. We were moved to the 15th floor the second day, and the AC was broke it was 90 in our room. Then they told us the tower was full and we needed to move to the old part of the hotel. I was pretty upset at this point but didn’t make to big of a fuss. I went down to the lobby and told them that I was going to a different hotel. I handed the 10.00 dollar food vouchers we were given “in place of cleaning service” back to them. Told them that even if they didn’t have room cleaning service they should still pick up the 2 day old food sitting in the hallways. They billed me for the first night and charged me 10.00 for the “room upgrade.” That was supposed to be there in the first place. I still have not been reimbursed. Needless to say the one time a year my wife and I get away together didn’t start out very good. Thankfully another resort on the beach “cherry tree” was very accommodating, and saved our trip. I will never book at grand traverse again. It was sold to us as a romantic weekend getaway. And what we received was terrible accommodations, no apology, and neglect in letting us now there was no maid service.
Great place with large pools, good restaurants and shops.
A little dated but a great place to visit with the family ????
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights (7/4-7/7) in room #519 for July 4th weekend. We did not notice at first except we remember noticing a breach in the bed mattress, as if it was examined or purposefully torn. When we returned back to Chicago over the next few days we separately have experienced excessive itching. After 5 days we compared notes and found several bites all over our body! We then went through our bed and found 4 tiny and moving insects. We captured and killed them but kept them for further review. We then sent photos of the insects to 3 exterminator experts, all confirmed our findings. The room we stayed in had bed bugs! On 11:40AM, We then contacted a hotel supervisor on duty to bring the matter to their attention. We attempted to explain our problem hoping to advise the hotel along with their next guest. However th administrator immediately denied having bed bugs and referred me to security. When attempting to leave our names, room number and date of stay, the supervisor refused to take down our information and said he could not do anything about our problem or experience. When we asked for a supervisor he insisted on talking to security and was not only dismissive but continued that the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa had absolutely no bed bugs! We have no choice but to fumigate our two bedroom condo home and eat the cost to rid our home, clothes and personal belongings everywhere. Early estimates will exceed $1500. Finally we seek no pleasure in discrediting a hotel and have no ill will on anyone. However this response is not only unacceptable but irresponsible and poorly managed. Never ever will I recommend this hotel to any traveler, which apparently has had similar or related problems of this type in the past (unbeknownst to us) BEWARE BED BUGS.
Nice place, great restaurants, great golf. Every 3rd day housekeeping tho, but staff told us that at checkin. Was told our condo was 3 bedroom with 3 queens, was actually 2 bedrooms and 1 loft, and 1 king with 2 full size. They accommodated with an air mattress tho for our kids
Nice but a little dated. Very friendly stuff and many options for the whole family
Had a great stay at a conference.
Great place. Love it!
Kids love the candy store, has great photo spots.
James F P.
Nice place but nothing special
Just checked in...and definitely not impressed. Place looks run down. Inside pool looks dirty.
Pretty property but not managed well. When I visited I was given a $10 voucher instead of housekeeping service. For these prices I would have expected alot better.
Terrible service. Stayed for 4 nights and housekeeping never came once even after we went to the front desk. Also, the people at the front desk were very rude. The hotel also looks nothing like the pictures
Grand Traverse Resort and Spa said Happy Fourth of July and gave us some nasty bed sheets to sleep on.
Great for family's! Kids love Dylan's candy shop and the inside pool has a great play area. The tower rooms are very spacious and have a fridge in each room! Aerie is a great spot for dinner, awesome view of the east bay!

When we checked in we were told there would be no housekeeping because they are understaffed and were given a $10 food voucher in lieu of it, but we’re still charged a resort fee. We got to our room and it was dingy, dirty and outdated. There was hair and dirt in the bathtub and when my husband went to hang his clothing the closet door literally came off. I called the desk and was told they had no other rooms to move us to. About half an hour later we were going to an event so I stopped at the desk and showed them photos and they did end up moving us to another room. Still dingy and outdated but at least clean. The closet door in that room was also broken and hanging on by one corner. The food is mediocre and overpriced. I did enjoy my spa service but they allow children in the locker rooms so as soon as I walked back in relaxed from my massage a child was screaming and I instantly tensed up again. Bottom line- request a tower room if you can. I’m sure a holiday inn has nicer rooms than the one we stayed in.
Excellent service and a great experience all around. We were informed at check in that you were short staffed and all of our expectations were met without hesitation. I feel that it was not necessary to inform guests of staffing issues. Great job all around. The spa was amazing and the service at all the in house bars was top notch even with our large group. Hats off to everyone at GTR
We walked in to the counter and Ashley, checked us in. She was literally so rude, unwelcoming and cold, that alone made me want to cancel and go home because it's too late to find another place. Then when we asked if we could split the payment between us three girls, she said as "long as one of you has 759 to hold it til you check out" never said have a good stay or even pointed us to the elevators. Just to walk to room 304 to have it be look like it was worned down. All in all to celebrate a first cherry festival. Not the best. Will never come back. Save your money
Very nice resort. They golf was amazing.
Really nice place, has a lot to offer for entertainment for the entire family. The location is beautiful, as well as convenient as its located near the beach and has plenty of good stores around the area.
This place is extremely overpriced. It was about double of what it should cost for a hotel room. The rooms are just standard rooms similar to a standard holiday in room. The resort was outdated. I felt like the rooms were clean but the pool was kind of gross. They also had a few hidden cost that you had to pay for at check in which made the overpriced room completely outrageous after the fees. They did have some cool stores in the resort but I just couldn't get over the cost for outdated 90's feel of the place.
Nice, very nice
I have memorys there.
Wonderful place to visit
Nice place, typical resort in midwest with shopping and golf. Not as kid friendly as others
It is the perfect place to go and just take a trip of and relax.
It's Grand Traverse. What isn't awesome.
Everything was fine except no housekeeping due to resourse limitations. Also, the rollaway bed was really, really terrible. Rm 954.
Amazing service. Beautiful and comfortable rooms
Such a nice play to stay. All the amenities are there and the bed was to die for!! Would definitely stay again!
Great amenities! Went on a golfing trip with 19 others and everything was set up. Golf games, bag storage, cart ready in morning, range balls plentiful and accomidations where cozy. Good food options however if coming in late from a round of golf you may have to go in town for more food options.
Had a hydrofacial this June (2019). Loved my clinician. Loved the facial. The spa itself is nice. Was lead to locker room to change into a robe, which was super soft and lovely. But was never told where to go after changing. So I sat on the bench and waited. Peeked outside once and saw no one, went back in. Clinician finally peeked in saying I was already "10 minutes into the appointment time"! Yikes. Bad communication. Not sure she believed that first woman had forgotten part of her speech. If she did actually give that direction, it would have had to have been at the last second as she was walking out. At that point I was trying to remember her instructions on using the auto lock on the locker she showed me right before taking off. Fortunately, the clinician moved her next appointment around when I told her I never heard where to go, and I received my full 50 mins. I highly recommend that facial, although way pricey. My pores were much clearer, face smoother, and redness reduced.
Wonderful views in a beautiful place. The room had a large panel of windows overlooking the bay, which was gorgeous. We had dessert in the Aerie restaurant, which was fabulous. Wonderful place to stay!
Pros: -View -A ton to do in the area -Staff were excellent Cons: -Shops closed very early -Sports bar in the hotel was down -We are coffee drinkers and a pot of coffee was $11-$14 + delivery fee and gratuity if you wanted more than the weak single cup stuff. -No housekeeping unless you request it and even then you are subject to their availability -2/4 cups in our room were very visibly dirty -Bathroom was dirty -Rooms are pretty outdated and inconsistent. Our friend’s room didn’t even have a fridge -99% sure they turn off the temperature controls in the middle of the night, our room was so incredibly hot starting around 1-2 am it was hard to sleep The stay wasn’t absolutely dreadful, but for the price we paid for it I would never recommend this hotel.
Always a fun time here!
The bag boys are pigs, especially Callison. Talk about filth. All they talk about is how bad they wanna get w cart staff. Better service might make this acceptable. But the pervs at bag drop make this an awful experience
A large flexible resort. The food was excellent, the facilities were diverse, staff always polite and helpful. In a very beautiful location.
Fine dining, fabulous views, awesome service.
An awesome place for a seminar and retreat.
Karla Gil E.
The Spa service are awesome, I feel so relax.
Wonderful place for the kids to have prom!
Great food, clean rooms, and amazing view of the Bay!!!
Well as there for annual conference. Was very nice.
Comic con was alot of fun will go again next year
The rooms are great, the pool is amazing... This place is all-around luxury
Top venue to stay in the Midwest!
Spent the morning at the spa. An 80 minute massage by Kate was the most relaxing Mother's Day gift I could ever have imagined. Definitely recommend. Will be back
Very nice place to stay
Got great views
Beautiful hotel though I didnt stay. Was here for a comic con convention .
I was here for a small convention. Things were nice and clean. Staff at the resort was very helpful. Kim the bartender was excellent.
Fantastic staff, a great venue for a convention!
I bought the spa package for my mom for a late mother's day gift, and when we got to the spa they said they didn't have anything open for the services we wanted. Then when they did get us in, it wouldnt be until very first thing in the morning that we had to leave. Also, the breakfast was sub par at Sweetwater and they couldnt keep up with the demand. There were hardly any outlets in the room either. I definitely wont be spending the money to stay here again.
Nice getaway spot
Untamablelps And S.
I came for a comic Con and it's awesome. The indoor pool area is more like a mini water park.
Wonderful location and service.
Very nice hotel room! No tub though. :(
We attended the comic con it was a lot of fun a great time
The room was a bit dusty, housekeeping needs to pay better attention to detail. The room was small, but had comfortable beds and a view of the golf course. Dinner at Aerie was delicious, and the view from there was amazing especially at sunset.
Single Father L.
Over priced and staff is rude and useless
Nice panoramic views
Amazing room. Awesome stay!
Katreva N. B.
Great Hotel. New to me this visit-To conserve they offer option of $10 per day voucher to use in lieu of housekeeping services.
Didn’t like that there was no cleaning service during the stay. But good view and beautiful room
Stas Sto L.
Nice to see new paint, carpet, a d wall paper.
Lots to see and do or just relax on your comfortable king bed! Lots of chic shops to browse or visit the spa and pamper yourself! Once you arrive, you really can spend the whole wknd THERE!
It was a fun trip!
Very nice resort, clean rooms, good service. Kids love the pool, plenty stuff to do for the whole family. Great restaurants, tasty food and drinks.
The Rooms didn’t have regular cleaning service. The breakfast has room for improvement. I would not recommend this hotel.
Upon checking in, I was told that during our three night stay, housekeeping would not be cleaning my room. They assured me that if I needed anything, I could call the front desk. By the 2nd day I was out of towels so I called the housekeeping extension on the phone and asked to have my room serviced. When I came back about 5 hours later, still no service so I called again. St this point, the woman said, “didn’t you get your $20 off coupons in lieu of housekeeping cleaning your room?” I explained to her that I had but that I just needed towels, I was out. Finally about an hour later someone came with towels only. Later on that evening I was talking to one of the housekeeping girls in the hallway and she said it was because they only had about 5 people TOTAL in housekeeping! The rooms don’t have mini refrigerators/microwaves. I called the desk to see about getting one and was told it was an additional $25 fee. My room was old and dingy. I will not be making this my first choice for hotel again. I had way better service and a MUCH nicer room for half the price at Holiday Inn. And There are no side doors, you have to trek through the entire lobby anytime you need to go anywhere.
It's an amazing place to stay and can't wait to go back! Spacious with plenty of amenities and shops. Proximity to many areas points of interest and golf course.
What a great view from the tower.
Very nice place! Excellent rooms and accommodations. I have been there twice for UAW Conferences and the service was on point every time. I highly recommend this hotel and resort.
For the hype this is very disappointing. No microwave, rent-a- fridge, gone green so room only cleaned/serviced if you request. Cheapest expensive hotel I've ever stayed at.
Great rooms and a very well trained staff.
Omg, I spent Mother's Day weekend there it was beautiful, I had a wellness spa massage and body scrub, it was an experience I will never forget.
First time here... Room and dinner was first class ... Will be back to play golf
Super clean. Nice people.
Always a pleasure visiting the Grand Traverse resort. 5 stars
Love this place!!!
Great Hotel to visit. Five stars from me.
Aerie is probably the best view in northern Michigan after the dunes. World class resort!
Hosts SpO Winter Games annually
Munson 20 yrs recognition dinner
Nice place to stay in Traverse City area.
Nice hotel, pleasant staff, clean room. I'd go back just for the Spa.
Robert Prince I.
This was the greatest experience I have had in Traverse City.
Amanda First F.
Our recent resort stay was lovely. We especially appreciated Daniel, the front desk reception & a particular bell hop. Professional courteous... Goes above and beyond to help guests be comfortable. Thank you! Aerie Restaurant Sunday Brunch - Fabulous
It's all about the money.
I was there for a work conference. The rooms were nice, the beds were comfy, the staff was polite, the food was delish. The rooms in the tower though were way nicer than the other rooms. TC is a beautiful place to spend time and explore. I would definitely go back there again
Pay outs...very few
Great FOOD and Service!
Don’t stay in the “classic hotel “ it’s very dated. The updated tower is nice and the condos are hit or miss.
Good times. Beautiful exterior views. Food is needing a little improvement but not bad at all
Fantastic Easter Brunch at Aerie. Our tradition lives on. 5th yr now and this one was best. Great service and fantastic food!
Got upgraded to the tower without asking! However the tower rooms have adjoining doors and sounds pass easily through.
We have our work PDD day there at least once a year. So I don't have much to say. BUT I will say the bathrooms are usually pretty clean on our breaks we have.
Heaven on Earth. Great Convention Spot. Superior Golf. Love the Shuttle to Downtown or Casino.
Found this place on Google maps and have been back now for the 3rd time. Its wonderful. Great place to get away and escape reality for a long weekend. Service is fantastic! Tower room is a must. All updated and really never have to leave the resort. ????
Beauty and fun
Nice. Fairly clean. Food is often very spicey/ highly peppery.
Very nice place to stay. Lots of activities close by
This place is great. Ricky at the front does the best job. Really enjoyed it.
For a fancy place it's nothing special.
I remember hearing about this place 20 years ago. I bet 20 years ago it was a nice place. But now it's outdated. They have updated bathrooms and fixtures, but not a lot more.
Great place staff is wonderful
We will not be back! We are gladly finishing up our three night stay here. We are hoping the toilet paper lasts through the night as we have not once had any service in our room, no made beds, no emptied garbage cans, no replenishing of soap or toilet paper. That’s right, no housekeeping at all. We have spent inordinate amounts of time chasing down clean towels and wash cloths. We arrived to a very dusty room with rotten food in a turned off refrigerator that reeked to high heaven. Our room smelled like death. We asked for a different room, but they said someone would be up, so we went out to dinner after a long day of traveling. When we came back to our room, nothing had been done and everything was the same. The stench was unbearable. We called again and asked for another room. They sent someone up who took out the food, but they didn’t clean out the refrigerator, the smell was still horrid, and the refrigerator unusable. We left yet again, even though we were tired and didn’t want to, but we could not sleep with the stench. They did come in and clean the refrigerator so that only a faint smell lingered through the night, but it was much better. We got a gift basket with a few odds and ends for our trouble. Nobody ever cleaned the dust though, and it was thick enough to write your name in, and still is, as in our three day stay we have not once had our room serviced despite calling and going to the clerk at the lobby the desk. They told us we are visiting off-season and they don’t always clean the rooms daily, but this is night number three for us and there has not been any housekeeping at all. This has been the worst family Spring Break destination ever. This place is gross, dirty and they do not care at all about the needs or comfort of their guests. Don’t waste your money or time here. We are never coming back.
Great place to spend the night at
Love this nice place. Might be my only time to see it....would recommend this to anyone going to Traverse City Michigan.
A grand resort with all the amenities and more. Golf, spa, casino nearby, conference facility, free airport transportation, luxury accomodations, restaurants, concierge, etc.
Went there for a conference nice place
Beautiful country in northern Michigan. Wish the casino was a little more accessible!
Top notch staff and rooms. The pool is lovely but the lifeguards dont really watch swimmers. This last time we were there the hot tub was so over chlorinated people were coughing and one little guy vomited.
Top pick for a Spa day with my girl
This place was just recently purchased by the turtle Creek casino. it seemed to be doing a lot of renovations on the facility. Staff was kind and helpful in the place looks great.
Room in the tower was advertised as newly renovated. Clearly renovations were performed several years ago. Furniture has damage. Hair on tile as you enter shower. Mirrors had what appeared to be boogers and streaks. Entire room was dusty. Bathroom floors were very dirty. Crumbs in drawers. Carpets fraying. Painting was poorly done, splatters on tile, trim light fixtures. Heaven forbid someone should need to use the facilities! No exhaust fan in the bathroom so all room occupants are forced to smell the last person's business! Heating duct cover falling out of wall. Windows were so dirty it was almost impossible to take pictures out of.
It's fun and great
Would be no stars, the bistro in the resort was worse service ever, waited 20 minutes for our server, only got water never got ask for drinks, food took 30+ minutes to get after ordering when arrived the fries were cold and hard, never saw a manager. Went swimming after dinner and some people got into a fight in the pool area with kids around scared all my kids. Definitely won't be back.
Love this place! Will continue to come back time after time
Hotel side is breaking down elevators are scary! you can see a huge space in between the door and wall in you room beds are very uncomfortable.
Beautiful Elevators. Friendly Staff! They even respect my special needs by allowing me to use my key to turn off the elevator fans so I can hear the motor and cables.
George Kilander J.
Thanks for hosting the winter special olympics. I felt the staff did a good job even with a whole mob of people. Didn't have time to enjoy the amenities, but the building and rooms were very nice.
Conference. Great place to have one.
Great customer service. Friendly atmosphere. Whenever we bumped into a worker they always had a smile on their face and a warm greetings. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Way over-priced for what you get.
Very few shops.
Jeri Lynn K.
The beds are like sleeping on a cloud!!! Got a massage while we were there so worth it!! Kenney was so worth the money.
The room was beautiful and clean, the staff were professional and the food was phenomenal. Too bad it was a professional conference instead of a family vacation!
While I would love to write a raving review as the services themselves were amazing. The over all experience was a disappointing disaster. The spa is dated and in need of a major overhaul. I was in TC for a work event and I chose to spend Saturday prior to our awards dinner relaxing. After an incredible body wrap and facial. Myself and a coworker/ friend stayed in the spa to unwind. We ordered a drink and were told 20 minutes later they forgot to make it so it was in them. Great! Then the drinks (bubbly) came and were flat, we had to ask them to open a new bottle. We proceeded to order 2 small plates. When the cheese board came they for got the crackers (which took another 20mins) and completely forgot our shrimp lettuce wraps. When we asked about the lettuce wraps we were told “oh sorry I for got to order that”. So we sat and ate and order one more glass of bubbly.... which again showed up flat and when we questioned it we were told “sorry I’m not really sure we can do better” ... you’re kidding right??? We just spent $850 at your spa that is subpar at best... OPEN A NEW BOTTLE. I would never book services here again. What was even better, while checking out the director Dawn didn’t seem to care to listen the the issues. She apologized but it was not genuine, and did not take any ownership to her teams poor behavior. The saga continued when I asked to purchase products used durning service and Dawn kept pulling the incorrect ones. This place lacks ever attention detail. Save the headache and invest in yourself elsewhere.
We are not into complain and I understand sometimes people will have off days. But if you are in a Resort you expect some basic customer service. The SPA experience it was disappointing. The condittion of the SPA is run down and the carpets and most areas are old . It needs a complete update badly. Well, we chose to overlook that at first because of the treatment. The masseur Kenny it was amazing! Thank you!. Excellent ! Everything else was stressful. After our treatment, we were relaxing on the lounge . We ordered some cava . The drink took a 30” to be served, then was flat, then they forgot the order, then they forgot the crackers... lots of excuses but overal an awful customer service. When we talked with the manager she made a point to correct us that she was the “director,”. She was clealy annoyed by our comments. She didnt seem sorry for our experience. She was rushing us and distracted . She didn't want to help us picking up the products we were about to purchase. If one cannot “manage” your clients feedback graciously she shouldn't be a manager or a director! Please , listen to your clients , make eye contact and take responsability for your team performance.! So, if you must use the SPA during your stay , schedule the massage with Kenny, get in and get out. You will be better off that way. We were looking for a moment of relaxation and we end up getting even more stressed.
Great golf course great rooms great amenities great everything
Was upgraded to a newly renovated Tower room, great view of the bay and surrounding area. Collin at the front desk was very personable and hard working. Pool area is definitely showing it's age, but appreciate that they have "Adults" only time! See ya again soon.
Dinner at Aerie for Restaurant Week was amazing! We will eat here again.
Dinner at restaurant at top of tower was great with outstanding views in all directions. During restaurant week the three course meal is an outstanding value.
Wow if I could rate is lower I would rooms are old and falling apart. 25 minutes to get a bloody Mary that was gross and after that taking a hour for food. Then taking food from the wrong table back to the kitchen really
Always fun to go to candy store
Always stay here when I'm working on traverse City
I am so disappointed with the recent status of the coffee shop. You cant get a cup of coffee without coffee grounds in it anymore. The staff is untrained. And lord knows those machines havent been cleaned properly since our old team left in 2017. I have so many good memories there, this place lead me to find a love for the art of specialty coffees, and introduced me to life long best friends. Its sad to see the quality turn to garbage. The rest of the resort is fine, but they will never reach the 5 star goal by serving the guests 6 dollar cups of coffee grounds. Please have someone who knows what theyre doing train your staff.
Very unfriendly. Good price for cross country skiing.
Great hotel for families. Spa experience was amazing!
Beautiful property inside and out. My family and I enjoy it here everytime.
Great hotel. The pool was having some construction being done and it was way cold in there. Lots to do and a very big building. The food service was off and on, our dinner server was awful but the breakfast server was amazing.
Great everything here. Really enjoyed our stay.
I love this place. Great service and so kind to our Special Olympians once a year. Plus great shopping-North Face and snow equipment rental! Beautiful scenery and clean rooms. How you treat those who can do nothing for you says a lot about your character, and the Grand Traverse employees mostly are versed in this and very kind.
My wife and I took our children to the pool for a fun day of swimming, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the pools using salt in with the chlorine rather than just chlorine. Certainly didn't dry my skin like most other pools, nor did it smell like chlorine or burn my eyes! Definitely excited for taking our daughter back as she becomes better at swimming!
Amazing!! Everyone there is always super nice and friendly.
Wonderful Birthday weekend with delicious meals at the restaurants and the spa services were so relaxing.
Great conference location with accommodating shops and restaurants.
Fun place. Kids love the pool and candy store. Very clean hotel all around and great staff. Keep it up !
Delightful weekend the facilities are in good shape considering the age of the building. The equipment in the health club could be updated and the hot tubes were not working properly
I love this place but only I could visit this place also in summer time!
The is no better place to be on a snow day. Kids completely love swimming in the warm water when it's so cold and snowy out.
Friendly staff willing to carry bags out in below zero temps. Rooms are clean. Didn't stay in the tower rooms. Think our section of rooms could use some updating it remodel. Always enjoy my stays here.
Winter Weekend Get AWAY. A snowy, cold weekend and such a warm and inviting resort. The staff was so gracious and helpful, facilities where great. Great place to stay in any season
Beautiful stay here for a wedding. Loved it
I stayed at the resort for a conference. I did expect with price and fees ($193...148 + taxes and resort fee) that I would have a relaxing evening. I expect some noise. The walls and doors in the tower are not very well constructed. I could here the screaming and crying next door well until 1am. I heard every person walking by chatting. The neighbors next door pulled down the rolling blinds and I thought they were in my room. The bed was comfortable. The room very clean. Mini fridge, sink, nicely decorated, but none of that matters if the walls are so thin you cant get a good night's rest. Also had issues with check in and a purchase in the toy shop with computer malfunctions. I guess I expect more for a resort in TC.
Wasn't all that they say it is. Really just trying to be fancy. It's a good hotel but they just try to be too fancy
great place to stay
They host events very well
Very nice, friendly place. Glass elevator seeing surrounding area awesome.
While staying at Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, people I had no desire to see or talk to had come to the hotel and were able to without my permission obtain my hotel room # from someone on staff - which is a VIOLATION OF PRIVACY. They came up to the room I was staying in and made made the hotel stay uncomfortable to say the least. I informed the hotel of what had happened but received no response. Contacted them again and was basically told they can't investigate the situation and therefor refused to offer any kind of solution. This hotel also has a history of over-scheduling employees (including minors) and refusing some of them any time off around holidays, including forcing some to work doubles on Christmas Eve and Day while management takes off for vacation. There's some shady business practices going on here. Consider staying somewhere else that doesn't treat both guests and employees with this kind of disrespect!
Older hotel with nice amenities
Killed part of a weekend afternoon with my girlfriend walking around, browsing the shops, riding the elevator... Something to do, lol! Word on the street is they have great deals on rooms during the winter months..
Nice except is very strict when allowing groups there, restricting them from a couple things.
Nice place. The conference which had nothing to do with the resort was a let down.
Cold conference room
Sonya Mae R.
Quiet and Beautiful decoration for the holidays!
I loved staying at this hotel. The pool was nice and the hot tubs to. Staff is friendly. Rooms are very nice. We had a great view of the water. Multiple shops and eateries on site. I would say this is one of the best hotels to stay at in Traverse City.
Nice and relaxing getaway.
Amazing staff were so helpful. Top quality facility. Stupendous views from the tower. Such a treasure for northern Michigan.
We've been coming for years and love it
Wonderful place to stay. Great staff and beautiful views of the bay. Can't wait to go back!
Love the atmosphere and the staff is amazing, helpful, very friendly. We had our work Christmas party there and they went above and beyond for us.
Had a friend come in from out of town. They took care of all the details.
Had an amazing stay
Lovely resort with gorgeous views from the tower.
Great and accomodating staff with luxurious rooms and condos.
Was there for a Company gathering. The bar was fantastic and service was solid....food, not so much. Prime Rib wasn't very Prime.
Wevarent from the area so we stopped in to Dylan's Candy Bar located in the resort. They have some of the best candy bars.
Love Dillans Candy Bar! We always stop there when we visit Traverse City. Best nostalgic candy and also new candy! We had a banana fosters truffle that was hand decorated. So delicious!! Make sure to stop here!
Amazing place to be lovely view
Anytime of year this is a wonderful destination!
Amazing rooms, amazing spa,but a serious ant problem around the indoor hot tub and the outside hot tubs are nice but they need some upkeep done on them the jets don’t like to work and the tiles are falling off,but our room seemed to be very clean.
Great place!! The rooms where nice. Staff is all friendly!! Will definitely be back!! Great prices as well
Great service! Lovely location! Cleanliness was very lacking. The indoor hot tub was disgusting and there were dried contacts on our bathroom counter upon arrival.
Great place 2 visit
Fabulous room and GREAT service!
Not a high end spa but a good deal for families. Pools need updating.
I like it alot
Overall a good experience, and I would definitely go back. Two points for improvement. 1; At the time I'm writing this, Jan 3rd, 2019, trash pickup is at 5:30am. Ask for a room away from the dumpsters; even if you're up on the 10th floor, you will hear them picking up the trash... It's not good. That being said, management was working to advance the pickup time. 2; While the restaurant at the top of the tower is quite decent, it's not five star, and certainly not a bargain. The drinks are good, the view is great, atmosphere is good, but the food needs a little improvement to be come five star. Other than that, we had a fantastic time and would definitely go back!
Had some great soup and craft Martinis at the Aerie lounge. Shaken, not stirred!
The Grand Traverse resort is a great place place. It has restaurants, a pool, a health club and nice shops. There is something for all ages. The family New Year's Eve party was a lot of fun.
Beautiful location, wonderful food, and a great indoor pool
Huge resort with lots of amenities! Good for kids and adults.
Rented a room for the night had a pleasant stay check in was simple and easy
We used the pool it was great
We like this resort for the nice rooms, facilities and pool area.
Rooms weren't the cleanest and just wasn't very impressed
My family and I were able to get a room with the hospitality suite. Very spacious and very comforting. The room itself was very nice. Among one of the best resorts I have had the pleasure to stay in. There are a few shops on the first floor such as a candy/ice cream store, clothing depending on the season, toy, ect. I was unable to enjoy the golf course and other amenities the resort has available to guests due to weather and family activities. It is pretty obvious to see why it gets booked heavily in the summer. I hope to come back soon!
Staff was very friendly, the sports bar has amazing pizza and drinks, rooms are super clean. No complaints!
Very much enjoyed the guitarist at the lobby bar. Bartender was less than personable.
The spa was fantastic!
This will be a bittersweet type of commentary on our experience at GTR. We attended the Biggest Little Christmas party (could be called something different now). The strong positives points from our experience were as follows: 1) The upstairs lobby is gorgeous, as were the Christmas lights lining the entrance boulevard, 2) With only one exception the staff were very good, cheerful, and helpful. As we entered Governors hall, Becky at the drink ticket stand was helpful and funny and gave us a great first experience. Bryan (or Brian?) was as an excellent bartender and was personable, 3) The renovation of Governor's Hall and its foyer is beautiful and elegant, 4) Governor's Hall was decorated beautifully for the Christmas event, and 5) The desserts were outstanding! Okay, now to the not so good points, and they all relate to the specific event our company attended: 1) The first bartender we approached was quite rude and impatient. That is a big problem for several reasons - but mainly because we paid a lot for this event and for the drink tickets as and being rude is avoidable and is unnecessary. The bartender in question was a woman who was stationed in the very back, by the big overhead doors, 2) Several people in our party thought the food was good - and they were the ones who made it to the carving stations early. Most others, including myself, thought the main courses were not good. For several people in our group the nut encrusted chicken was actually cool and almost cold. The other dishes were fair at best. The fish with red sauce was okay, 3) The circus-like performers in the Governor's Hall foyer were an absolutely ridiculous inclusion. The contortionist rolling around a mat and the woman on stilts might have been talented but what in the world does that have to do with Christmas? The standing-still statue guy dressed and painted in silver was cool. There should have been 4 or 5 Christmas-themed statue people. 4) The talented musicians and subsequent DJ music was muffled due probably to the very large room. The person who came up front and spoke on the mic to announce winners of the drawing was unintelligible. This is way more detailed than necssary... but overall we had a fun evening. The lobby is a fun place to bring young kids because it is decorated well.
Tower room was perfect - ammenities were spot on!
We had the best weekend staying here. Everything was great. The shower was impressive.
It was a great atmosphere
Had a great time there
Great atmosphere, very polite employees, makes you want to go back.
Always a great time at GT
A beautiful place stay
Here for a conference. The rooms are always clean and neat. The facility is awesome. They always take great care of us.
Masonic conference, this is a great place
Marianne Kruk C.
We were there visiting friends. The indoor pools were very nice, but the water temperature was a little cold. The shops in the resort are super cute and fun.
Wonderful place Beautiful area
I love this place great service
Nice, clean hotel. Recently remodeled room, but could use some updating in the common areas (lobby, restaurants, pool, etc). Best and only real resort in the area.
Drove 5.5 hours to attend a conference. Wound up getting placed in "the Shores" condos. Popcorn ceiling, dirty room, dated everything... Not happy. Now I get to shuttle back and forth to the 3 day conference. I couldn't even get an address to plug into the GPS, got a highlighted map with directions. A little hard to read in the dark!!!
The location was very easy to did. The receptionist was very helpful, even when we called to ask 100 questions. Everything was very neat and organized which I loved and appreciate. The beds were comfortable and the rooms has more than enough space. Very clean. Over all great experience.
Expensive buy good
Hair was left in the shower and on sink. Extremely disappointed in the bathroom cleanliness. But the room overall was amazing.
Great rooms and service
Zach Van N.
Great place to stay. Great food.
Great place! Staff was very nice and attentive. Massage and pedicure were very relaxing.
Nice grounds, rooms were subpar and the bed was tiny. Not the quality I was expecting for the dollar amount paid. I’d vrbo next time
Cute shops,,,,cashiers need a friendly lesson...was at the SIP and SHOP on Nov 24....
Attended for a race, lots to see and do. Golf course has paved trails to walk and jog. Excwllent massage!
Attended the resort for a social event. I was impressed with the overall design aesthetic of the event spaces. Very classy and sophisticated.
Went to GTRS for the Sip and Shop event, which is a craft show. They had staff directing traffic and people at the door giving directions to the ballrooms. It is a beautiful place and a great space for a shopping event. The holiday decorations was quite decodant and, if you're in the area, I would recommend stopping in. If not only to see the life size gengerbread house made my engineering and the bakery department.
Great Hotel and Resort
If you’re interested in waiting 35 minutes to locate a parking spot at the hotel you are paying to stay at then go ahead and stay here. They also offer $63 dollar buffet breakfast specials and spa call wait times longer than the IRS when trying to book a massage. Go somewhere else!
5 star. I would give it 10 of I could. Loved everything about it. Only bad thing is they book up quick so if you wanna stay book far in advance.
Nice facility and grounds.
Very noisy rooms. Bit outdated.
Staff was abrasive upon interaction..gave little to no interest in tending to their guests needs. Atmosphere was negative and appearance was uncomfortably dated. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone.
Absolutely beautiful place to stay! if you don't want to stay the night you can just stop by and shop in their stores. They have about nine shops including a candy store and different kinds of clothing stores. They upgraded our room at no charge when we arrived and it was amazing. You could see everything from our room in the tower and the service was excellent.
Very nice amenities
I was here for a convention and the hotel is a bit of a maze. We ate at a few of the restaurants in the complex and had decent service and good food at all of them. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tubs even though it was a chilly day - no kids and a great temperature variance. My bed was comfortable and my room stayed clean.
Glass elevator is why i visit.. day or night great view. Excellent rooms but to expensive for me.
Great food. .
The Resort was breath taking! Great family destination for tennis, swimming, shopping. I loved it
An Up North Treasure!!
Great resort, accommodating staff
I attended a chamber of commerce expo and it was a great venue
Lovely decor. Friendly staff
I went to a camber of commerce show there. The "resort" is a big glass tower that looks out of place on the landscape. Rooms are expensive and you have all the recreation and services under one roof so you never need to leave and go out to explore the great up north and what it has to offer. The best thing I can say about is that it dosen't have a casino. Great for business commotion with a view.
I was there for rhe annual Business Expo. Although this year is was in a different place, the employees were friendly amd helpful.
I went specifically to go to Dylan's candy store in the resort. It was so much fun, I was just like a kid in a candy store.
Great place. Had some issues with our group check in
Location is a short drive from downtown TC. This resort has everything you need for a great stay. Rooms are comfortable. Room service is prompt and the food is every bit as good as the restaurants on the property. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
Had the day spa package and it was incredible- we did a couples day and would do it again! Can’t wait to get back to TC and head to Grand Traverse Resort and Spa
We had a king bed with a lake view on the 14th floor. Room (1450) was beautiful as was the view. Only complaint was how little sounds proofing there is between these costly rooms. We could hear the guests in the bordering room when they were talking at even a normal conversation level. When they got a little loud it was excessive. I expected better from a well reputed place like GTR. Other than that, ample parking, close to town, friendly helpful staff, restaurants and bar on site.
Wonderful Place To Visit. It's really beauutiful. Great venue from a conference. The breakfast was really nice! The banquet staff REALLY patient & attentive. It would be a great place to get away for some quiet time. Nice pricy stores & restaurant, but there are restaurants off grounds & the mall is about 20 minutes away.
No information/pictures/pricing on the website about the condominiums. When I try calling the resort, the automated phone system states I'm first in queue with a wait time of less than a minute yet nobody answers the phone and I'm on hold for 10 minutes then I have to hang up and call again. I guess if you can actually get a hold of someone to book a stay then you can give a better rating. But I see this as a reveal that customer service is lacking and wouldn't want to waste my time or money here just to be disappointed.
The tower view is absolutely beautiful. The tower room is gorgeous. Very knowledgeable staff. Staff also very nice and polite.
The guest services is outstanding. Very accommodating. The activtiy in the hotel is very exciting between the lobby bar, live music and other places to gather. The rooms are clean. The location is great. Close to downtown TC, golf courses, the casino and supermarkets.
Very nice resort. They offer two very challenging golf courses and one easy course.
Parking people didn't know what they were doing. Poor signs inside saying where to go.
Would like fridges in room standard, but stay was otherwise great
Very well signed and easy to get around. The event was well laid out and would definitely recommend it!
Good place big room clean
Always a great place to stay, relax and take in the scenery.
Jus'one D F.
Great place for family, fun& business
It was a great trip, room were a little outdated for the price
The room was nice, king sized bed with a pull out couch. The keys were RFID, so they were easy to use and didn't require you to slide them in/out and get the timing just right, like with the mag stripe kind. The hotel staff was very friendly and the lobby bartender was fun to talk to.
It has a lovely shopping center and great dessert spot
Only complaint is pool is far from majority of rooms
Nice place!great pizza????????
Always a great experience and enjoyed by the entire family.
Couldn't be happier with the Room. It was big, clean and very comfortable. The parking lots were very full and we did have to park a ways back in the secondary lot. Over all very happy with my stay.
Love it. Great stay!
Love the spa days ! So relaxing !!
Although the bathroom was spacious, it was not designed with the female in mind. Lighting was poor and made doing hair and makeup challenging. Their was a magnifying mirror, however the light did not work. When a working mirror was brought the next day, the light was barely noticeable. The shower had 2 little shelves for products, however there was no bench or foot rest to help while shaving legs. The shower was plenty big enough to add a few necessities that would be appreciated while staying at a "Resort". The tile floors were very cold while getting ready after a shower. There was no fan to get rid of steam. Bathroom had poor ventilation, again making it difficult to fix hair in the morning, and not be smelly after use. The beds we're comfortable but with only 1 small nightstand between the 2 beds, a large lamp, phone, clock and remote on top, there was no room for personal items. Can you at least have 2 nightstands, there was plenty of room. The housekeeping staff were pleasant but when in the room you could hear them talking loudly to each other. On check out day 2 cleaning staff walked into our room without knocking or identifying themselves. I was partially dressed and they stood there talking and explaining, with the door wide open. I finally had my husband go to the door, talk to them and get the door closed so I could have some privacy. It is a beautiful area, but some improvements would be beneficial, in my opinion
Can't write a full review as I was just there to drop my wife off for a conference. Seemed nice from the outside though. Probabl much nicer than the dump of a hotel we stayed at.
So much fun and a beautiful place.
I never get out and finally took a trip for work. Not at all what I expected. Room had a smell. I was very excited for to actually go out on a training.never again.
Had a gift card for the spa, did the turquoise sage scrub & lotion. It was awesome!
Very clean and the staff was super helpful and friendly! The spa was incredible as well!!
Attended an expo here. Great venue.
Bridal expo. It was fun.
Jeffrey Labun I.
Love Grand traverse resort, there is so much you can do plus golf courses are amazing.
Nice event. Little too warm, but overall very nice. Fun talking to different vendors and the resort staff.
The Resort could use a face lift.
Stephanie Ziegler P.
It's a nice place, but the rooms are dated, the carpet and decor are old, and rusty drop ceiling in the bathroom was pretty bad looking.
Ist time visit, buy probably the last time too. Attended a wedding. Was asked to break us party in a hospitality suite before 10:00 pm. It wasn't quiet, but certainly not loud music, and wasn't 3:00 am in the morning. I felt bad for the parents that rented the party suite for their friends and family and then couldn't use it. I also asked the resort to use one of their three shuttle buses to take 16 of us only 15 minutes from the resort, but was refused. I told them I would pay. I was not asking for free. The three buses I saw never left their parking spot the entire night. The facilities were nice, but the staff was non accommodating . My own daughter is getting married soon, but I would not recommend this resort because of the way we were treated. I think when you bring 50 rooms to a resort, the staff would be falling all over themselves trying to make your stay great. Quite the opposite.
Your handicapped accessible isn't really handicapped accessible. I could not get into the tub without assistance. You need a walk in shower.with plenty of room
Way too expensive!!!
Clean rooms qns affordable prices
Great. Weather not so good.
Wonderful place for our conference. I enjoyed my time there
A beautiful place to stay, golf, swim ,work out or whatever you want . I actually love it here.
Nice Spa and Fitness Area. Confortable rooms. Quiet, outside of town.
Was here for a conference, was a great facility!
Nice little shops good place for events and relaxation
John Van H.
The facilities were very clean and staff were friendly and helpful.
Great place for a conference, getaway, or family gathering. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Banquet staff was very attentive.
Beautiful resort, well priced, awesome golf
Had a real good time there. Would do it again.
Room was nice, but walls are so thin. I could hear the people next to us. In addition, we had a room next to the elevator, which was also loud.
Rooms were nice.
Much larger inside than it looks from the outside. Exquisite catering and friendly staff.
Very friendly staff throughout
I always enjoy this resort! The grounds are beautifully landscaped. I love the spa & use the organic Eminence products. There's 3 golf courses to choose from. I prefer to stay in the tower suites, as I love the view of the Grand Traverse Bay. Sunday brunch on the 16th floor is a great end to a wonderful weekend in Traverse. The shuttle bus runs from the resort, to Turtle Creek Casino, another fun place! Bourbon 72 Restaurant is wonderful!
So we say 'let's stop in Jacks, Sports Bar and Grill, at Grand traverse Resort, I DON'T KNOW WHY, but we did. And as expected, Barely sports on, quite as a library as usual, BORING. .....I wasn't having it.....4 young people at the bar, falling asleep, so I immediately ask the bartender about putting football on, IT'S SUNDAY, HELLO, SPORTS BAR, she did, conversation began, an older couple looked on with intrigue, free entertainment, beer, shots.........a fun time for an hour........IT'S PROBABLY THE ONLY TIME, IN A LONG TIME, THAT JACK'S WAS ALIVE. SORRY TO SAY BUT GRAND TRAVERSE RESORT IS THE MOST BORING PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN. FOR INDIANS, WHO ARE KNOWN TO LOVE THEIR LIBATIONS, SAD, SAD PLACE TO STAY, EAT, DRINK, DINE. .....BORING BORING BORING. ......THANKS TO OUR BARTENDER. ...SHE STEPPED UP TO THE CHALLENGE. ....IT THINK SHE LIKED THE NOISE.......
Love it! Rooms, co dos, spa, food, all of it just a great place
Over all the hotel/resort was good. Nice and clean and staff seemed nice. However, price is ridiculous for what you get. I recently went to Kentucky on business and had a room for a 3rd of the price with more in my room AND a complimentary breakfast in the morning which was great. Here there is nothing complimentary! You get the room and THATS IT. Also you pay and an additional $16.95 for a resort fee on top of your room rate. Yes this resort has a ton to offer. Tennis? Yeah for an extra $20hr. Golf? I didnt even ask. Few other things as well. Why do I pay a "Resort" fee and turn around and have to pay again to use the amenities? Golf I understand. But Tennis? Really? And then the prices for Breakfast, Cmon. This is the first hotel I have been in that is this way. Just for the simple fact of what you get for the money...My wife and I will not be back. If someone in management is reading this, please reevaluate some of the costs. I understand nice things cost money. But this place does not constitute the money you are charging.
The resort was gorgeous along with the rooms, though they are noisy if you have a connecting room. Jack's Bar past the lobby is definitely where you want to eat if you're going to be staying in the resort. I had some wings and a burger, both were quality meals, especially the grilled wings - sauce was awesome too. Now, onto the not-so-great. I went to the local coffee shop inside the hotel and bought a turkey sandwich, when I went to eat it the meat and sandwich were beyond room temperature...completely unacceptable when you're serving meat of any kind. Thankfully though, the young lady working refunded my money for the sandwich.
This place has everything!! Probably the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed at! Great view of the bay and golf course! We stayed during the month of October and got to see all the trees changing colors! It's breathtaking! Would definitely recommend to anyone! Also had dinner in aerie, which is the restaurant at the very top! Best food I've had in a long time!
Great place to stay!
AVOID THIS PLACE! The rooms smell from old old smoke in the walls! The owner would not give me a refund when we didn't stay there because the smell was giving me a headache!
No real complaints. There are a few different properties (hotel, apartment-style rooms on the golf course, attached condo's by the lake, etc.). Grocery store right across the street. Multiple pools indoors and out. Just a few minutes from downtown Traverse City. Staff is generally helpful and friendly. Parking at the tower hotel can get a little clumsy as it's all on one side of the building. Internal layout at the tower can be a little confusing because there are different areas with different levels. If you stay at one of the condo's by the lake, be aware that the condo owner may insist on a temporary security deposit on your credit card, sometimes as high as $3,000. That can mess with your credit limit. Ask.
View from Aerie is awesome. Hanging in the lobby bar is a cool experience
The Spa is by far the REASON we come...the staff is super friendly and in all the massages I've had over several years, every time we have one at Grand Traverse, it is by far one of the most relaxing. The facilities are great and extremely family friendly.
Amazing view from the room and bathroom. Fun shops and restaurants. Weeks come back in a heartbeat.
Went here for a work conference. Food is great. The building had lots of stores which were nice. Plenty things to do near by. Recommend staying here.
Fantastic place to stay while you are in the city.
Fantastic resort with great staff! They put on a great event!
I stayed at hotel after attending a conference earlier in the day. Room was clean and neat. Bed was very comfortable, each with four pillows and plenty of blankets. WiFi was fast enough for me to complete some online assignments for school. Parking was free but sparse especially when the conference was in full swing.
It's a nice place with good vibe. Nice hotel and views. It is a bit away from downtown. That could be a good thing. It is bit on expensive side.
The facility was clean and well organized.
This was a nice place to attend a conference. Service was top notch and everyone was very friendly!
Attended the MAPA conference hosted here. There were a number of convenient shops and areas to sit and work. The food provided at the conference was more than adequate with attention to vegetarian and vegan options. The resort was pricey, but had many options for dining, exercise, golf, and entertainment.
I attended a professional conference at the hotel. Parking was somewhat limited due to the conference. A few of the conference rooms were also on the smaller side for the size of the conference I was attending. The overall venue was nice and refreshments provided were good.
We requested a crib ahead of our stay and then again at check in, but when we got to the room it was not there. We had to wait another 30 minutes until the crib arrived. This was less then ideal for my 1 year old. The hotel it's clean and the staff are nice. Some of the older parts of the building need remodeling our some tlc. Also more parking space is needed.
Front desk staff was soooo very welcoming and happy....Beautiful landscape and Breathtaking views......Bed and pillows were soo cozy...????????????????????????????
Location is great, a short drive to dining and entertainment. Rooms seems a bit dated but clean. Staff is friendly. Great location for conferences/meetings.
Another great stay, great front office people!!!
Rooms were clean and nice. Staff is very friendly. Overall a fine experience.
Tge condos were not as nice as I'd expect the bed was miserable. Great amenities and friendly staff. You will not be bored. Incredible scenery.
Awesome, beautiful resort, amazing food, beautiful scenery, wineries, beaches, mini golf . great get away. Maid service not so good.
Always a great spot for the Realtors Convention. Get a room above the 6th floor in the tower on the lake and golf course side. Amazing, peaceful views. The indoor pools are great for the kids.
Nice spa and golf accommodations
Florian Van K.
Hotel quality is solid, food is good
Fine place for a convention.
I attended a wedding at the Grand Traverse and had a great time. The hotel is beautiful with fantastic views of the bay. The staff we encountered were helpful and professional and made the evening more enjoyable. The ballroom provided for the reception was percent size for about 150 guests.
The best food and service anywhere, all was great.
Beautiful views and rooms. Pool was far from where we were staying
Rooms are nice, clean, very comfy beds. Bathroom is small. No makeup/shaving mirror, no view. No vending machines with the ice makers. Hotel overall is very nice, easy to get around. Staff helpful. Wifi is poor and unsecured.

I must share my incredible experience!! I was attending the Michigan Realtor Convention this week and had the pleasure of having Andrea at guest services. I was so impressed by her professional courtesy, knowledge of the area and genuine personality...she really loves what she does and it shows. I would go back because she is there. She helped create my incredible first time experience at the resort.. Andrea is 5 stars. The room was nice too!
Went here for real estate convention, and it was great!
Wonderful rooms. The tower is amazing!
All we did was go to check out the gift shops. The grounds were well maintained and the lobby was very nice
Love everything about this resort!!
Very clean rooms. Shower had very good water pressure. Easy access to the casino.

Can never say enough good things about this resort. It's beautiful, plenty of things to do for both young and old, and great location to downtown Traverse City.
When hosting a larger group in a ballroom (Michigan), need to turn the A/C up just a bit.
I work here
Great place to stay very relaxing atmosphere
Great facilities, friendly staff
Great place I just wish our group could have been togethe, at least on one property.
Played all three courses. Very nice layout and they are tough , stayed at the resort but didnt see the "Grand" aspect to it. Seemed ok. 3 nights 90 holes of golf and a shuttle all night to the casino 600 bucks. Not bad, I just was expecting more in regards to the accommodations
Beautiful and relaxing getaway
Overall I have a good experience at Grand Traverse Resort every time I stay here. While the experience is good, I would not consider it great. Improvements could be made in delighting customers, and there are areas of the hotel that need to be updated.
Very disappointed with our stay. Myself and 13 of my friends stayed here for a golf weekend. I made sure ahead of time that everyone’s names were on each individual reservation so that everyone could check in upon arrival. This was confirmed by the concierge. Several members are our party were unable to check in at their time of arrival as they were told their names were not on the reservation, wrong! I made sure their rooms were comped as this was completely the resort’s fault. We paid nearly $300 per room per night, not in the tower! The rooms are average at best and very outdated in comparison to what you pay! I’ve stayed at much nicer places that were $125/night. Golf courses were average and expensive compared to the condition of the course. I ended up leaving a few articles of clothing in my room which would seem like a fairly normal occurance. I called a few days later to see if the cleaning staff had found my clothes and I was told the lost and found department would call me back..they never did. Tried a few days later and it was the same situation..terrible customer service. Do yourself a favor and choose somewhere else to stay, this resort does not care for their customers and they nickel and dime you for every little thing that should be included for what they charge.
Extremely nice resort. My room was clean and stylish. The view of the water was beautiful from my room and the bed was very comfortable. I did not like that they did not restock my in room coffee and replace my used coffee mug and drinking glass. Overall a fantastic stay.
Great hotel nestled on the shore. Provides many amenities restaurants, food, shopping, activities. And has very friendly and helpful staff.
It's a very nice location, pretty campus, and there are decent (but by no means exceptional) amenities on site. However, this is the kind of place that probably looked great in the 90s but could really use an update now. The rooms are rather dated and the age shows a lot of wear and tear.
This is a first rate facility
Great location, easy to find and out of the way. Gorgeous spacious room with comfy beds.
There are areas of disrepair.
It was clean and the shuttle was nice and accommodating.
Complete resort. Three major 18 hole golf courses, one by Nicklas, one by Player, indoor, and outdoor pools and hot tubes, indoor racquetball courts several restorantes and bars, including the top of the tower. Condos as well as hotel/motel rooms.
Really enjoyed my stay. The staff is great and very helpful. The restaurants are good and very convenient. There are fun stores at the hotel - clothes, candy, ice cream, coffee. Everything you need. Comfortable rooms. Some have great views. The only complaint I have is that the pool and outdoor jacuzzis close at 10 on most nights. I believe that they should stay open until 11 or 12. I definitely would have used them more.
Hotel staff was friendly, the resort seemed nice. Although the room was nothing special, it didn't feel dirty.
Stayed in the resort hotel (not the tower). For the price you pay, you would expect a lot more. No fridge, no microwave, crappy coffee maker, door that wouldn’t shut on its own (had to lift it and shut it), toilet that didn’t work well. Wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. Could have stayed at a hotel on the water for cheaper.
We haven't stayed in the towers yet but the rooms are older but comfortable. I was a little disappointed we don't have at least a mini fridge but overall, the beds are comfortable and the showers have good water pressure. The Spa is a completely different story... it's by far the REASON we come (or at least for me)...the staff is super friendly and in all the massages I've had over several years, every time we have one at Grand Traverse, it is by far one of the most relaxing. The facilities are great and extremely family friendly.
I was there for the Michigan TRAC program and we presented in one of there rooms. They fed us well and treated us even better.
I've stayed here on two different occasions. The first time we were able to stay in the tower side of the resort. Those rooms offered refrigerator, modern furniture and other high end amenities, plus gorgeous views. The second time the resort was more full and we checked in later and stayed in the original hotel rooms attached to the resort. These rooms were musty, the air took a while to come on and the room never got cool, plus there was no fridge, the rooms were outdated and dark. The other resort amenities are fabulous - private beach access, indoor and outdoor pools, yummy food and drinks and convenient location to downtown shopping and other beach accesses. A 15-20 drive from the wineries and casino. Stay in the tower side and you'll be awed.
Overpriced, not well managed in any department, and they pay their employees the lowest wages in the county. Best part is the manager of The Marketplace- the coffee shop inside. Marissa is always very smiley and wonderful and always remembers my favorite drink! The two stars are for her.
Always a great stay
Our family loves going here. They also have a small indoor water park that's good for kids up to like 10 or 11.
Room was gorgeous and food at the aerie restaurant was amazing
It was really nice!
It is fantastic. I love the place, and the staff are incredible.
We we're in the Traverse City area, where we decided to stay at the Grand Traverse resort. They have restaurants, bars, hot tubs and pools. A little something for everyone. We enjoyed the free shuttle to the nearby casino
Great hotel, good views, rooms and dinner. Not as clean and modern as it used to be, but very well maintained. Great place to stay, especially if you like golf.
Tower rooms were very nice
Rooms were clean and nice, appliances were old but functional. Bathrooms were very small.
My room was very nice. Hot tub was ok not hot enough and the control was far away from tub we had to ask where was. 2 restaurants with the same menu that didn't make sense to me.
I think the hotel is nice. They go bit far to force people to eat at their restaurant (charge $15 a night to have a microwave in your room). Great place for a convention/conference but bring a sweater (especially in the summer!). The air conditioner is definitely on and the meeting rooms are pretty cold. The food is great (if sometimes over priced). The staff is great. They were very helpful and kind.
Located on a resort compound, and the exact location of the spa building may be a little difficult to locate for first time visitors attempting to be on time to an appointment. Scheduled a couple's "deep tissue" massage over the phone. Upon arrival receptionist confirmed couples "deep tissue" massage. Got prepped, waited for therapists. Therapists show up "You're here for the relaxation massage"? I corrected her "no, deep tissue". Was then concerned, the whole time that both therapists were not qualified to perform a deep tissue massage. My wife and I both agreed that it was not up to our "deep tissue" standards. It was enjoyable, but it was not up to our standards and was basically insanely expensive, $432 for an 80 minute couples massage. I prefer authentic, Thai, deep-tissue, bodywork at a fraction of the price. We will not return in the future as a result of the quality of the deep-tissue bodywork, in relation to the exorbitant prices.
They seemed to be understaffed at the checkin counter. We received the wrong room which also had a cockroach and smelled musty. We were able to obtain satisfactory room accommodations, just took an extra try. Would recommend calling to confirm your reservations prior to arrival to be safe. Wedding venue in the tent was great with ample fans and airflow.
Loads of fun. The slide is very exciting for adults and children. ???? I'm very happy with the service. The hot tubs and both pools are open for use. It's was spacious for everyone and their family. Life jackets and a life guard are very helpful for none swimmers.
Great place for a vacation stop.the surrounding area can be breathtaking
Overall this place is great from my experience. I've been here a few times for an annual golf outing with 40+ golfers and we are always accommodated to very well. The courses on the resort are great. The wolverine was probably my favorite and an enjoyable course for an average golfer. Service at the clubhouse and dining areas are always great. Bloody Mary's at the wolverine clubhouse are a great start to the day and the fish tacos we're very filling! Rooms are always clean and we'll managed. Our outing changes location every year but if we decide to come back I'll be looking forward to it. Cheers!
The grounds were beautiful
What a beautiful location inside and out. The hotel staff is accommodating and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We traveled there for a large conference which this hotel could more than handle. The spa and other comfort services are ridiculous in price for what you actually receive. Save your money to experience other local traverse city spas and businesses.
Quality resort, perfect for large family events, conferences and corporate events.
The reason for the low score is because I'm disabled. I went there for a family wedding. I can't stand for more than 5 minutes. Even with shuttle buses, who forgot to pick me up at the airport, the walking was overwhelming for me. They housed me far away from my family, and I needed their assistance on several occasions, but they were 3-4 miles away. There was nowhere at check-in or the concierge to sit to do business. The employees tried to accommodate me, but I needed a wheelchair. I don't use one at home, but I needed one there. The room was cold, and I couldn't get it warmer than 74°. My muscles won't relax at that temperature. The water in the shower was cool too. It was not capable of getting warmer. I asked for a space heater, an electric blanket, a heating pad with no success. I couldn't fall asleep because the pain was unbearable. I barely survived the 3 days. So enjoy the resort if you can be on your feet for hours on end. I'll be soaking my joints in my 88°pool at home in FL. It was 93°outside. I have no idea why it was so cold inside. They say they win "eco" awards, but their air conditioning is on overdrive. If you're looking for healthy, organic food, bring your own. If you need a refrigerator, there was none in the room. They were able to bring me one, but it was a little dirty on the outside. They lack outlets to plug things into. Good luck trying to charge your phones. If you get cold easily or you have pain that lessens with warmth, pack your fleece, even if it's 93°outside. I didn't get to try any amenities; they were all closed by midnight when I needed it. A hot tub would have helped. They had no rooms designated for disabled people, and Reservations really dropped the ball when they isolated me from my family. I was told I'd have a room near them. They should ask if people need special accommodations. The rooms were more spartan than a Holiday Inn. They haven't updated since Tuscan decor was in style. Maybe if you enjoy all the different sports available, if you like spas, and you have no pain & take no medications, you could have a fun week. ?
The pool was fun for the kids,
Service was wo wonderful
Food was just good at the Grille, veggies cold, meat not done a requested. American Sweetwater, eggs not done as requested hash browns cold and undercooked wife was served here drink in broken glass. Condo is an old run down apartment complex by beach in need of repair. Water heater had to be reset by maintenance each night we were there, stains in carpet, paint peeling off walls and ceiling, light on belcony out. Private beach, not private, couple next to us came from local hotel, amenities from buildings, light fixtures and lounge chairs in need of repair or replacement. Not worth $300 a night. Thankfully work paid for the trip. I would not go back.
We enjoyed our stay. Was not impressed with the veiw out our window. Will definitely ask for a different side of the building.
Very clean, great staff
Traverse city is always beautiful and this location is excellent.
Nice place but a bit dated. For the price you expect way more. Pool was great. But rooms HVAC are sub par.
would not let me pay for the room and cash had to pay with a card and then pay cash the next day while they held the money on the card for another week. left my wedding ring sitting on the nightstand ran back up the room to grab it housekeeper had already picked it up and had it sitting in her cart with her belongings. pool sign stated that Adult Swim started after pool closing hours no kids allowed kids were still in the pool and hot tub the majority of the Adult Swim time
Top notch resort with great service. Make sure to check out yearly photo contest.
The spa was wonderful and the people in the spa were great. I ordered breakfast and didn't mind that it took a while since I know how that can go, and they offered to comp it for me which was great. On the other hand, we were there for a conference and the staff from the resort that was supposed to work with us was absolutely terrible. There were so many complaints and we got nickel-and-dimed for absolutely everything. The first reception we had, there was only enough food for one chicken skewer per person which was ridiculous. I'd recommend for a personal trip but I would never recommend a business one.
Very clean . Nice little shops and multiple choices yo swim at
Had an wonderful dinner with a beautiful view! Staff was amazing & big thanks to Max for going above to help out one the guests with us!
The rooms are very nice. The service is very good and it is in a good location.
Very nice place nice rooms.
Beautiful golf courses, outstanding hospitality!! Amazing support for deserving local foundations!!
The Tower rooms are amazing--gorgeous views, big bathrooms, comfortable beds. However, the Hotel rooms have a musty smell and are dated. Hotel rooms are not worth the price.
Kind staff and beautiful resort and golf area.
Played Spruce Run and my wife and I both enjoyed the course. Great customer service.
Nice place but a little pricey. The place seemed a little dated but overall we were happy with this resort.
This place is a ripoff. They wuoye you a price online but if you book a group they charge you 50 to 69 dollars a night more. Hotel is outdated. One pool had salt water in it. Restutaunts are so so. Green fees are outrageous. You would have to pay me to go back.
One of our favorite places to stay excellent golf. Rooms are spacious and clean.
Nice location (close to major attractions). Service good. Attended conference.
I'm here once every year or two for work. The location is nice, and all the staff both friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the water pressure - I have poor water pressure at home, so I irrationally look forward to improved water pressure when traveling. It's definitely better here, but not amazing.
Great rooms. Lovely beachfront and nice pool. Food is great too
Car MBS is super fun
Good location but current condo is a bit run down compared to last one we stayed in
Clean rooms and nice staff, but there is no mini fridge in the room. Also quite pricy for a regular hotel room. It has a beautiful view and lots of amenities though.
First off they canceled our condo not knowing so we had to get a room that was not so roomy especially for the price the room phone did not work at all there goes the room service all we got was an apology for them canceling our condo both my kids and wife got sick not mention my brother and his kids got sick so really we had two condos anyway the room was filthy on the side bed frame of old popcorn and candy staff was rude oh and I do have a video off the room with old food in between the frame so went down and said to email them really wow I do not recommend this place for families did I mention the ding dong ditch at 2 am where is the Secerty dam this place and this was this weekend litterly July 26-29 Lisa had left a review she was a 100 percent right
Went to the restaurant at the top of the resort. The view and food are both fantastic!
Paid over $200 to play the wolverine course. Got to the front 9 and they just started mowing the grass. I’m currently sitting on the 3rd tee waiting to tee off because they have two people right next to the tee box mowing. I didn’t pay this kind of money to get distracted. Most courses have this kind of thing done before people even get to the course. I will not come back here again. I’d like to add that the guys cutting the grass see us sitting here and can’t stop to let us tee off. Very unprofessional in my opinion.
Everything is nice
Many visits here over the years...mostly positive experiences. Brunch at Aerie never disappoints, nor do the views.
Our room was beautiful!
Great staff clean and cozy!
Rooms were beautiful, but the beds were uncomfortable. My husband and I did not get good sleep. Too high price for what was offered. We had to walk through too many people to get to the outdoor pool, which was very uncomfortable for me and they didn't have the greatest directions leading us there. I unfortunately would not stay there again.
Staff was friendly and the room was very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend
Wonderful! Great view from the restaurant, great service from our wonderful waitress!
Older rooms but nice resort. Polite ataff
Great golf, great resort!
Great place. A+ for service. For the best facials on the planet ask for Brandi.
People for the most part left me alone while I worked out. It was very relaxing.
Not impressed with the room, they charge for you to use the pool weather you use it or not, the clothing stores sell ladies sizes no larger than large, not one XL in any of the stores. The hot tub was barely warm.
No washer and dryer
Very good place, nice view and multiple things to do ary
Stayed there for 3 nights attending a conference. They did a wonderful job taking care of us. The staff were very nice and helpful.
The staff is friendly and courteous. The accomodations were clean functional and attractive. The location. Is an ideal launching point for all of your traverse city adventures.
I wish I could say it was a great first time birthday weekend experience..but they need to upgrade the hotel..beds we're NOT comfortable at all! Check in was rough and overall hotel needs some serious upgrades!! The best was Aeries reaturant!!
I will NEVER STAY at grand traverse. Terribly disappointed in the lack of professionalism of this resort. We booked our three bedroom condos over a year ago to find out one week before our trip that hotel automatically cancelled our rooms and gave them away. No phone call. No emails. Just cancelled. By the way, I should mention the rooms were reserved under the bride and grooms names who are getting married at the resort the weekend the rooms were cancelled. So they don’t even have the decency to call one of their bride/grooms to double check if they still needed the rooms. Of course they still need the rooms! Their entire families are traveling from out of town for their wedding. One phone call is all it would’ve taken. Instead, they say there was a policy where you had to call and confirm your condo 30 days in advance. I understand this may be the policy, but it’s a different policy than any other hotel in the world. AND this is one your bride and grooms! ONE PHONE CALL COULD’VE THINGS ALL BETTER. I should mention Grand traverse cancelled all 3 condos, 3 bedroom condos. So that 9 rooms cancelled. 9 couples left with no where to stay one week before the wedding. Thanks Grand Traverse, you’ve made this a very special weekend for the family.
Stayed in the terrace condos. Very nice and clean.
Very nice place to stay and play
Shower was hot ,cold, hot ,cold .very unhappy.
Breathe takingly beautiful!
Great restaurants and spa experience was awesome
We stayed at a condo, and it had everything we needed. The areas for conferences, dinners , drinks, shopping, exercising and lounging wdre all stellar.
Always a great experience and the staff is always great
It's just nice nothing wows you...
Nustar Insurance W.
Mega meeting rooms.
Everyone has always been very friendly to us.
Stayed here several times and have always had a great visit. We stay in the tower rooms, the corner rooms are worth it, they are so Huge! The spa is incredible (and expensive) but worth it, restaurant is the same. This is great for a romantic getaway, I wouldn’t pay this much for a quick stop over. Same with family style vacation, I’d rather do great wolf for this kind of price.
It was good.
Very beautiful hotel and grounds. Expensive but has lots of amenities if you chose to use them. We were there for a wedding so we did not use them. We loved exploring the area
Great resort with a great staff! We got picked up from the local airport in the resorts shuttle and was greeted with a friendly smile upon arriving at the resort. Checking in was a breeze and we ended up starting on the recently remodeled resort side (opposed to the hotel side). Our room was fantastic and had great views of the lake...and sunsets! The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious. The lobby area had a bunch of shops and an ice cream/candy store! They had shuttles running to and from the beach area and would probably take you in downtown if needed. Everything was top notch and we can’t wait to return here again for another long weekend!
Room is outdated, asked for room change she said she put me on the list....pretty sure she was not telling the truth. Outside of that it's pretty nice with good pools and location to other places.
Great place to stay! Had an amazing view from our room
Great place, 3 pools, 3 hot tubs, 2 golf courses and close to Traverse City's beautiful beaches and parks.
This hotel has a nice location and the rooms are comfortable and clean. There are lots of amenities since it is a resort/spa.
Not as nice as i was expecting for the cost. At checkin, they didnt tell us about any amenities. We had to figure it out on our own. Very dated and the tower is knid of an eyesore.
There are no more safes in the room. No store for forgotten essentials (toothpaste, Q tips, excedrin) coffee shop decided to stop making bagels, doughnuts. ????Outside pool (90 plus degrees on the 4th of July) two patio tables with umbrellas, for a resort that size! Should have had at least a dozen for ALL the guests that wanted to eat their so so food and drinks. My husband did say the Bear golf course was in great shape. We will stay somewhere else next year (we've been going to the resort for 20 years)
Great staff, lots of restaurants good food, Spa excellent.
William F T.
What a wonderful, relaxing place to stay! This is our dream weekend getaway. Nice breakfast buffet downstairs. Elegant restaurant up top. Awesome golf. The Shores condos are so quiet and peaceful.
The spa was amazing
Nicole Mc P.
Nice clean rooms, friendly staff, and easy access to downtown. Highly recommended.
The view from the tower rooms is stunning.
Clean, large hotel but the elevators are a bit of a pain
The staff at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa are top notch. Extremely friendly and purposefully seeking ways to make my stay even better. The views from the upper floors were absolutely spectacular. Great place to take in a deep breath and just appreciate the gift of life.
Jessi Schullar Rambling T.
This was a very nice stay.. The food AHHMAZINGGGG!!! The part that made me sad was the high prices of everything, but there was something for everyone.. They even had a little concert in the lobby area! That was neat! You can take a shuttle to the Turtle Creek Casino and back to the hotel!! My favorite part was the toy and candy store!! It's very child oriented! Like I said the only part that was hard was the prices on a lot of things... Thankfully I had a couple grand saved up just for it!
The hotel was amazing! Perfect venue for a conference and beautiful scenery all around.
Excellent experience overall!
Beautiful resort. It is a large resort so bring comfortable shoes. Great golf course.
We were there for an awards ceremony. The facility was immaculate and employees friendly and helpful.
Pretty pricey and honestly it's pretty much your typical standard hotel.
Great venue for a conference. Stunning sunrises from the Tower Suites
Yes this place is great
Great dinner and services.
Huge facility, good value golfing.
Facilities and staff were great here!
Great place to stay. Awesome golf
Stayed in the Turtle View condos. They were spacious and clean but could use a bit of a style upgrade. There are no elevators so take that into consideration if booking on the upper floors.
The spa body scrub was amazing. Prepare for your hair to get wet with that service. There are plenty of shops and restaurants inside the hotel, Aerie is expensive but definitely worth the money
Everything was better than I could imagine for our 30th anniversary. The room, the view and all that went with it.
Beautiful resort with championship level golf. Classic up north golf experience
Beautiful hotel! Just attended a conference here for work. It was beyond hard to stay focus and attend classes.. I just wanted to enjoy the establishment. Two beautiful indoor pools and the outdoor pool by the lake = awesome!! We will be back as a family!
Came in for a day of pampering, not sure what to expect. Charles started me out with the body scrub, then moved to massage. He did an incredible job at finding the spots that I have issues with (sciatica) and worked them out. The entire day, even down to the hair with Megan, was exactly what I needed. Thanks, team. You made my day!
Barbara Carmen M.
So polite and prompt to care for our needs! ??
Used to bring the kids here for spring break years ago. It was a nice place to keep us all under one roof with food and entertainment. It has changed hands a few times I think. The beds are uncomfortable, never know when the restaurants will be open. But the views are worth the trade off! Have to come once every two years for my husband's business and it's only ok.
Great place for an outdoor event.
Friendly staff and nice facility
It is so beautiful and nice here, the shops here are fun to look around in and the indoor and outdoor pool are amazing
Beautiful place. Great views. Top of the line EXCELLENT service. Good food. Reasonably priced shops.
A great place for conferencing
A bit pricey but it's a nice place to stay. Some rooms are not worth the price, so I would double check with that before you stay.
Restaurants hit the spot.
Great place to stay either for a romantic getaway or to take the kids.
I did not stay there. I attended a conference. However the staff were very attentive, friendly, and efficient. The onsite restaurants that I ate at had very good food and the servers were also excellent.
We stayed in a in nice condominium. The mattress so comfortable, kids loved the candy shop, and the pool is salt water.
Amazing place! Well worth the price! Cocktails are amazing. Great view from the 16th floot bar.
Excellent golf for the price. Wolverine course was my favorite even though Bear is the bigger name. Staff was very friendly and helpful. A+ all around.
The staff was very courteous and prompt with service. We had an excellent lunch at The Grille.
This place will have you feeling as if you entered a place only worthy of celeb company! It's beautiful.
Great place to stay in the area. The staff is really nice and the rooms are clean. The restaurants are very good and the location is close to attractions.
Fanatic place even though some stuff was way over priced!
Not the same quality I remember from growing up.
Beautiful place. Great place for a conference.
Excellent location, staff, rooms, golf, dining, meeting rooms
Always a good experience
Beautiful scenery and lovely accommodations. I stayed in a condo overlooking the golf course. Very comfortable room with a kitchenette.
Here for a conference. Food has been great. Staff very friendly and helpful. All around it's been a great experience!
Beautiful facility with excellent customer service. Had a problem after check-in but it was quickly and efficiently resolved. Would definitely stay again
Over priced and poor service.
went on sunday for the traverse city comic con, being it was my first con i dont have much to relate it too, but it was pretty fun. 10/10 would recommend
Excellent customer service and the room was very neat and clean. I've stayed here 4 times in the last 15 months. I enjoyed every time.
Very nice resort. Great visiting traverse City
Comic con was cool
Great place was there for cherry capital con
No complementary breakfast, very unimpressed with the place, but the pool area was really cool.
Was here for Cherry Capital Comic Con. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to help when we needed it.
The tower rooms are all re-done. The view is spectacular and the people are friendly. The pools are great but disappointed that they took out all the jaccuzzi rooms plus 1 jacuzzi by each pool. The psrking can be a problem if there are events going on.
Was there for comicon, everyone was super friendly
The hotel is nicely laid out and clean. Staff were friendly. The event was well organized.
Snowyjawa Great Lakes G.
Amazing. The kids enjoyed it. Will be back.
Hit up the Comicon again this year and the kids had a great time.
The resort was fantastic. I went there for the Traverse City Comic-con.
Was there for Cherry Capital Comic Con, working in the game room. The staff which i interacted with was excellent and the building was clean.
I went for comic con and it was lit
Living the dream @ GTRESORT & Spa
I came in to enjoy the Cherry Capital Comic Con and the Resort's staff has been very accommodating, helping us feel very welcome and attended to.
Most shops close early. Pool on other side of hotel fron tower. Dissapointing stay
Great service, beautiful resort
They have a great pool. The food and drink are good as well
Had a conference there in the ballroom for my work. It was great. The lunch included a yummy dessert and the facility is beautiful.
Condo room bathroom outlet broken
Celebrated our 30th Anniversary. Great atmosphere, food, service and views. Will go there again.
Facility is gorgeous with several unique shops. Food at my seminar wasn't to my liking and the seminar room was too cold, but otherwise very comfortable. I would prefer the conference rooms to have clocks.
Can't go wrong at GTR. It's more expensive lodging no doubt, but priced accurately, and worth it if you want to treat yourself! Also really enjoyed the spa while staying.
Amy L. W.
Attended a conference there. A very nice resort. The rooms are very nice and the resort, shops and restaurants are great! Highly recommend!
Spent an hour on a tour of the facility to see their wedding venues. The property is clean, beautiful, and had plenty to do!
A bit over priced I felt, the old section is like any other, the tower suites are very nice.
Visited for a tennis tournament. It has a nice spa and pool area.
Stayed here for a conference and found the room very comfortable. Overall my stay was very good. I was disappointed the pool and hot tubs closed early (10pm) and the resort did not have enough full service breakfast restaurant space open to serve the large size of our conference which caused many to be late or skip breakfast.
6 hour rounds...No thanks..
Pretentious and snobby atmosphere
The blower on the heater in our hotel room was blowing full blast the whole time and would not turn off. If you manually turn it off it goes right back on. I even tried to call maintenance who could not turn it off either. I didn't get any sleep at all because it was so loud and obnoxious! I tried to take a shower twice both times it was ice cold and the water pressure goes in and out. I would never stayat this hotel ever again. We also had the breakfast buffet at Sweet Water. It was disgusting.
Arrived here for a conference and stayed at the condo units. The rooms are tidy, spacious, and well stocked with utensils, pans, etc. The food was great and the amenities are nice.
Friendly staff. Nice resort.
Very nice facilities
Always comfortable beds and very quiet
Lovely conference experience.
The room service is good. Beautiful views.
We had the Sunday brunch buffet and it was so good!!!
Great room view
I attended a conference at the resort. The room was clean and comfortable.
The tower is very nice. The other part needs updating.
I attend conferences there every so often and each and every event that I've attended had been hosted very well. Every thing is very clean, there are nice shops with variety. Banquet meals are always very tasty.
In town for a conference. Not much around the hotel. Traverse city is a cute town and I bet the area is beautiful when it is green.
Very nice resort. But becoming more expensive.
S Us A N Ba L D W.
Went to conference. Very organized very expensive food and drink. Only provides water in glass in classes.
Comfortable, clean, up-to-date rooms.
Grand Traverse Resort has a 72 hour cancellation policy which is "nickel and dimming" customers. I cancelled 48 hours before my stay and got charged 173.00. RIDICULOUS!!
The resort was truly beautiful and well taken care of. I was there for a professional conference and the staff was exceptional as were the meeting rooms that we used. I would absolutely recommend the Grand Traverse Resort to any group that needs meeting locations!
Had a good time, staff is very friendly.
Had a great time with my nieces in the pools!
Grand Traverse was a great experience during a holiday visit for entertaining kids. Lots of activities for the cost. The only negative we had was the food service was severely understaffed and it impacted eating at the hotel.
Awesome place to stay
Clean rooms and friendly staff! Beautiful view from Tower room
Love the candy there
Nice hotel, just a little cold in the fall.casino five minutes away. Had a good time there.
Excellent rooms, great views, a swimming pool, sauna, hot tub and much more. All at a awesome resort. Worth every dime!
I've been here many times and I'm never disappointed, always in impressed.
Great family spot
The worst experience I ever had in my life because the staff was rude and you have to pay 25 dollars for a mini fridge even though you are pay a lot plus resort fees that give you access the tennis court in the winter with snow on the ground food was bad room service lady walked in and said hi I am sorry I am having a bad day today why are you telling me that .. just bad they don't care about their customers anymore....
Nice resort in Traverse City. Stayed for a work conference and would definitely come back for leisure.
Beautiful place!! Everything you need in one place!
It's a really nice hotel but I feel like it's to far away from downtown Traverse.
It was bitchin
Pretty cool place, very expensive, but overall I enjoyed my stay and a great place to take kids
Overall the hotel was okay. The rooms are dated and the bathroom was very small, which was inconvenient for a family of 4. The pool was the best part. Our kids (age 7 and 9) loved it. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience at the resturant (Jacks) with very slow service and no acknowledgement or apologies from the staff. I'm not sure I would recommend this hotel to a friend if they were looking for accommodations in the area.
Great resort,we visited for spring break. The only suggested improvements are the restaurant menus, not including the top floor restaurant. We will definitely return.
Wonderful place! We went there for a retreat with our youth group and the staff was very kind and helpful with our students!
My stay was very nice, the rooms are beautiful and the spa is wonderful. The parking lot was poorly treated and very icy, however. I slipped and fell last night on a large patch of ice and my husband fell on it as well as he was trying to catch me. When we told the hotel staff they acted like it was no big deal and kind of brushed it aside. I was having a great trip until this happened :(
Workout room is nice and big outdoor hot tub is fun
Great hotel with lots of extras
Nice room nice view. Would have been much nicer if the room was clean. Hair in the bathroom and floor wasn’t vacuumed.
Huge hotel, very well maintained and friendly staff.
Great hotel to stay on girls weekend or with a family
Husband and I went for the Easter Buffet on the top floor. Food was very good, very interesting delicious desserts. Staff was friendly and attentive. The view was gorgeous and the atmosphere was cozy.
Went there for a girl's fun weekend. Had a massage and manicure and pedicure with my daughters. We also checked out several wineries. Loved it all.
The Grand Traverse Resort and Spa was great. The staff was friendly, the hotel was beautiful. We upgraded to the Tower rooms and were not disappointed. We had a corner room with a partial view of the lake and it was great. I would have given it 5 stars...but my only issues were that the walls were very thin! We could hear basic conversations from our neighbors on each side very well. Also we went in the spring time which was nice, less busy, less expensive and a little cooler outside, however the furnace in the room was noticeably loud! The breakfast buffet was just ok, but there is plenty of great places to eat downtown (which was like a 10 minute drive away). Overall I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend it to others as well. It's a great resort for families or for couples if you want to get away.
We love it there
Very clean hotel the check in process has been very smooth. I stayed at the golf view condos and moved the next night into the hotel and the transition was great. Kept the same key card and they offered to move my things if I wanted.
Quite disappointed in the service, and overall upkeep of the facility. Staff was very slow
Great place to get away.
Loved the ping pong table by the pool
Me and my wife love to come here to get away!
Must go back
Very nice and friendly
Hidden away, a place of real grandeur.
The place is semi-updated. Enough hot tubs so that there's usually space free. It can be a bummer that it's so far away from the penninsulas and downtown if you're a drinking group, otherwise for families its a great distance. There's a Meijer very close which is great for forgetful people. We gad a suite and it was pretty beautiful, views from the tower aren't bad either.
The housekeeping manager is so rude and nasty the way she talks to people. Some of the supervisors and housekeepers steal tips. And the employee kitchen manager is eventually going to hospitalize someone with all the undercooked food she serves people. Save your sanity and dont waste your time with that place. Its outdated and nowhere near a "5 star resort."
Spent the weekend at the Grand Traverse Resort for the Genesis 2018 retreat. The hotel was very well kept and nice to stay at.
If I could rate this worse then a I hated it I would. We stayed at The Grand from Friday-Sunday president's weekend for a hockey tournament. The kids all had fun hanging out in each other's rooms and playing games And mini sticks, However all the kids from our group that went swimming ended up with red burning skin from the pools. I learned shortly after our trip when I was talking to my son's doctor that it was chemical burns from all the chlorine they had in there pools. It does not surprise me one bit either. As soon as you walked in the doors downstairs to enter the actual pool area ur eyes instantly burned from all the chemicals. It took 2 days for my son not to be pain and have red skin from the over chlorinated pool water. I tried everything I could think of to take the pain away and sooth his skin and some of it worked but only for short periods of time. My son was in so much pain it hurt him to the point of tears when ever he tried to lay down to sleep. Even propped up to sleep hurt because of these chemical burns. Imagine if it was hurtful to lay to sleep how much it hurt to put all his hockey equipment on the next day. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone and I will never stay here again.
Beautiful facility... 80,000 as ft of meeting space, 500+ rooms, a "true" spa with lots of options, excercise facility better than most gyms, play pool and lap pool, casual to high end dining, cross country skiing, golf in summer, unique and wonderful shops....
The place is huge. Something like 5 pools, one of which is olympic size plus and indoors. The rooms are nice, the beds are super sink-in cumphy. The main restaurant is average and pricey too. Go south along the lake on the main drag, lots of good places to dine....
Fabulous customer service, great clean rooms and everything you need right in the hotel to enjoy a great weekend!
Going here was fun. There was lots of shops, and everything was tailored to my taste. Even the T.V. is customized for you, and welcomes you when you turn it on. All of the small details add up, making this a wonderful place.

Don't stay at hotel. Paper thin walls, noisy, we had a bad breakfast at Sweetwater. Tower and shops nice. Pay up for stay but bad food clincher
Very relaxing and great staff! This place is definitely what's good.
Excellent vacation spot
Need more restaurant's
For the expense, the 2 making omelets didn't perform finished product to expectations, and servers did not remove excess dishes from table in a timely manner. Pastry table was the best part.
We stayed in the condos, golf view, they were exceptionally clean and very pleased with our stay.
Great place for kids and adults!!! We enjoyed our stay 100%!!!
Request tower with walk in shower
Nice clean facility.
Very clean and hospitable
Beautiful destination resort
Or family spent the weekend here and had a great time. Food service was ok, could have been better. Overall would go back.
We’ve stayed here several times over the years; have alway had a good experience. This was the first time we’d been there since 2007, and it wasn’t so great. The front desk people were a bit less than courteous. After they finally found our reservation, they put us in rooms that were not adjoining; so we had to move. We booked rooms in the tower; they gave us rooms on the first floor - next to the pool. Everything was clean; but there was no safe, no refrigerator, the bathroom sinks were at our knees - although not because they were handicap accessible. The toilet leaked all over the floor from the tank. The water in the shower went back and forth from hot to cold, and the water pressure was terrible. The beds and pillows were the worst we’ve ever seen in a hotel. Overall, the rooms were that of a 2 star hotel - not the four star you’re paying for at the Grand. As always, Jacks bar, and Katie, were the highlight of our stay; we won’t pay to stay here again though.
The spa and the resort were fabulous. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great. 1 night was not long enough. Can't wait to go back!
John Thomas I.
The room was very clean, and we loved the beautiful pool and hot tub area!!
Every year we spend 4 days here for special Olympics winter games. It is a great experience.
Its like staying in an expensive shopping mall. The rooms are overpriced for how plain and bare bones they are. The pool is neat. People seemed friendly.
Good sized rooms ect and personally not a big fan on the food the lobby is very pretty nice workers..
Great place to stay. Take the kids or business. Was here for a conference and they had great facilities.

I was given a tour by a former employee. The place is just incredible and the staff are amazing! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who visits traverse city.
Full service Resort and Spa on-site restaurants candy shop and shops for clothing and other stuff, golfing and proximity too many other amenities.
Great place to stay. Excellent experience, would stay again.
We stayed at The Shores which is GT's off-site condo property. It was absolutely beautiful! They have a shuttle service to go back and forth between the properties and the casino offers a shuttle between the casino and resort. All the staff were absolutely wonderful. It's just minutes from downtown so we were able to enjoy plenty of shopping both there and at the resort! We will certainly be returning.
Stopped in for coffee and a roll. I enjoy the coffee at the resort coffee bar.
This place is awesome. Top notch hotel and golf at an affordable price. Great restaurants and casino
Born A B.
Decent getaway resort. Not much to experience directly on resort and rooms could use an update.
It was nice
Overall a good experience, the room next to us had a bit of a party going on and didn't want to stop. Which would be fine to an extent but it just didn't stop...
Great rooms, great people.
Room was very clean and modern. Restaurants had good food and a large variety of items. Shuttle to the casino every 30 minutes.
Two stars.... Reasoning: we were told the hotel was booked but for extra we could stay in the towers.. Which was newly renovated. . when we did get into our room there was bits of black mold in the fridge which was un plugged.... Next the bathroom had that pink ring in the toilet you know the one that gets there if the toilet hasnt been cleaned in quite some time.. Bed room had a small damged whole in wall that looked like a remote was thrown at it. . you get a bowdryer in bathroom... But no electrical out lits to plug it in.. And the only outlet to pug anything in was next to the beds. Meals... Ugg where do i begin.. You get charged 16 for two eggs piece of toast and two pieces of bacon... Really! We choose to eat out instead but of course there is no microwave in room to warm up left overs. So your paying a high price for a motel 8... At least motel 8 has a fridge microwave and somewhat of a complemtary breakfast... This place is way over priced in my opinion.
Best casino in northern Michigan
Was checking on availability of different accommodations and prices. Very nice personal and professional.
Very nice resort with a lot of amenities.
Nice place . Very good for a convention
We were there for a conference. Beautiful place with great service. Will definitely come back with family.

Home show was worth going to
We have stayed here before on many occasions for hockey tournaments. Overall, it's a pretty decent place. They are a little pricey, but we were there in January, so kind of the off season. We only paid $89 per night, not sure how much they charge other times of the year? However, the breakfast buffet is $23 on Sunday. The drinks at the bar were also a little high. So again, the room was not that expensive but everything else is a little high. There are three bars, but they close at random times. The sports bar is kind of cool. They also have shuttles to the casino so even if their bars are closed, the casino is open. If your not going there with a group, I do not recommend staying there, just a lot of different cheaper options.
There is always a ride to the casino here
We attended the annual home show on Sunday. The facility was nice enough. The bathrooms are showing their age, with peeling wallpaper and corroded pipes.

Beautiful day and night.
Dress nice when you come here. I packed clothes for the outdoors, people stared at me all weekend like I was Tarzan.
Excellent rooms, awesome amenities, and top notch food. A great place to stay and relax!
Great room and service!
Very clean and everyone was friendly
The building is beautiful and the service is great. They host a lot of cool events that are well organized and fun to attend.
Great drinks, nice people. The food was delicious too.
Pedicures with my daughters. So much fun. Staff made it delightful.
Great experience. Always enjoy going to their spa. Such great and friendly staff.
Nice accommodations, but a bit pricey. I paid almost $70 for breakfast for 3 people for the buffet. I would be ok with paying that price if the selection includes more than basic eggs, meat and potatoes along with fruit, oatmeal and a couple pastry options. It was a bad selection, just not worth $70. Service was good in all areas of the hotel. They have a wonderful indoor pool area that includes a large area for children. Also has 4 indoor tennis courts. I will probably go back, but will eat off campus.
Love the resort! The shops in the lobby are fun to look around in and the people working in them are very helpful.
Great hotel with pretty good amenities. I loved that there was a little coffee shop downstairs to get local coffee and pastries from. Hot tub and pools are open all year round. The outdoor hot tubs are especially awesome in the winter. However, they were pretty crowded. They say after 10 pool and hot tubs are for adults only but no one monitors that. There was a whole team of 16yr olds there. Great gym for a resort. They have 3 different options - weight room, regular gym, and group class. Spa is nice but is VERY pricey. (Double a normal massage & They charge different rates depending on the day of the week.) Also, when booked our massages we were told one price and then charged another. They do give you nice robe, lockers, waiting area with tea, coffee, granola, and a fireplace. 2 out of 4 in our party weren't happy with our massage and even after telling a manager, only got about a 10% discount...
One of our absolute favorite places to stay when visiting Traverse City! So much to do right on the grounds! Such a beautiful well-maintained Resort!

Beautiful facility. Large rooms, but bathrooms are small.
Dinner at aerie was delicious!
Beautiful inside !loved the condos
A great place to relax and enjoy company with friends
Great and clean place to stay
We were there for our company Christmas party. Well we were told we had to be quiet or we would disturb the floor below us.. well obviously it was okay for them to have a microphone and be so loud our party moved to the conference rooms on our floor. The food was not good either.
Devin R. S.
Great experience for our event. We "took over" the facility for our conference and the staff were great throughout. They were always helpful and made sure proper accommodations were made for the diverse needs that were present. Would highly recommend for a conference type of event or a getaway for a family.
Very nice resort. Large clean rooms. Great views of the area. Ample parking.
My wife and I went there for my works annual Christmas party. This is our third time there. The rooms are always clean as well as the rest of the hotel. The workers are always very nice and professional. I don't have a complaint about the place. I look forward to going back.
Really enjoyed our stay!!
A beautiful hotel and the golf course is top notch.
The entrance is nice, but the rest of the rooms and hallways need updating. The pool area is l outdated as well. Beds are comfortable!
The rooms are really nice and i love that they have shops in the building too
We loved the resort. The views from the tower are spectacular. The shops provide a nice place to shop when it's too cold outside. The restaurant selection is good. We already made a reservation for our next stay.
Room was too cold even after adjusting thermostat, beds very uncomfortable

Great place for meetings and to stay
OVERALL SCORE: 3.5/5 Stars. I had a wonderful time at the resort over the New Year's weekend however, there are a few things that I wanted to share specifically. First, the staff were very respectful and simply amazing. The bay view tower room that I stayed in was also fantastic. Unfortunately though, there are a few points that I was not happy with. The towels located both in-room and pool side were rough. Both types of towels were so rough that they scratched my skin and made it painful to enter the chlorinated pool and tubs without a stinging sensation due to the scratch marks. As for the dining options, between the three main options (Jack's Sports Bar, the Bistro, and the main restaurant in the tower on the 16th floor), it was difficult to feel as if I had a variety of choice. Even the room service menu was limited to a single page, to which I was surprised, in relation to the size of the resort, I suppose that I expected more options and variety. This leads me to understand why I routinely observed several guests and their families choosing to dine away from the resort for more variety and reasonable pricing. Finally, as with what most potential customers would be interested in, I found that the prices at the resort to be what one would expect, expensive. Given that the winter is more of a difficult time in relation to finding activities to do with the family, I found the shopping to be extraordinarily expensive, while the spa was priced as I have seen them both domestically and internationally, with the average 50 minute massage priced at $120 + gratuity. Overall, I was pleased with the service and the staff, but not impressed with the lack of variety and the higher prices.
Our room was very nice. We had a beautiful view of the bay. It took a very long time to get our dinner from Sweetwater American Bistro. The burger wasn't worth the wait. We did xc skiing and had a wonderful time.
We had the best time at this resort! It was a little pricey, but we had some of the best service I've ever experienced. Polite staff that went out of their way to assist us - we were incredibly impressed!
The room was amazing the food was horrible
The facilities were nice, but the staff were all extremely pleasant!
Some of our friends stayed there and we visited them for dinner, it was great. The kids had a great time too.
Great value considering all the amenities.
Housekeeping missed our room every day..
Room was clean, pool/hot tub was fun but not as clean as expected. Water slide needs lights on inside or sight glass. My personal common complaint: resort fees should not exist or be included in nightly price when forced to pay it. Didn't use anything other than pool since stayed only one night and it was winter/single digits temps outside.
Hotel rooms were spacious and clean.
Great environment. Environmentally friendly.
The Sunday brunch buffet was amazing! Food was great, a good mix of foods, and very friendly service. And the view is INCREDIBLE!
Spectacular place to stay
Nice updated rooms
Breakfast with Santa was fantastic.
Customer service is awesome. They really do care about their customers. I would stay there again
Nice place to stay. I helped bring a national conference here and they had multiple rooms to host many types of events during the week. The staff was helpful and the food they prepared for us each day was top notch.
The rooms were great but the food we had was subpar. The breadsticks were nasty. Everything else was great though.
My work has our Christmas party at the resort every year and it is always the best time. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. I really enjoy staying at the resort every year.
Tower rooms are overpriced but otherwise they were clean and nice. Bed was comfortable.
The service is always professional, friendly, and prompt.
Best restaurants in town!
Every employee I encountered was helpful and friendly. All of my needs were met quickly and everything was well taken care of.
Attended a conference here. Prices were reasonable for the group. Room was beautiful and spacious. Friendly service. The tv in my room was broken, they replaced it right away. Buffet breakfast and lunch for the group was very good. Good selections available. The sit down dinner was not good. Over 400 people. Chicken and vegetables were cold. Dessert bar was more like a breakfast granola bar than dessert. Servers were friendly and helpful. Cocktail party before dinner and party after dinner had a great selection of snacks and desserts. Bartenders were fast and friendly! I would highly recommend large groups utilize this place. I would come back on my own with my husband for a weekend get away.
Mediocre for the price
A wonderful property during every season.
Beautiful place to visit. All employees I encountered were very kind.
Good place to visit. Nice set up.
Would return again. Great weekend.
Dylan’s Candy Bar!

The rooms in the Tower look like they have been recently remodeled and are quite clean and spacious. It's a nice property to walk around, the shops are fun, and the spa is fantastic. If you're going to eat at the resort, I'd recommend Aerie. The other restaurants aren't bad, but don't stand out either.
It was very clean, and the staff were nice. I was just meeting up with my mom and her cousin to go to dinner, but I've never had a bad experience at the Resort.
We love coming here every year for thanksgiving!
We love to come here, awesome shopping and even better bartebders, yes taylor we are talking about you, we had a great time! Thank you for being so fun and awesome, love'd it
it was great! lots of stores, and resturants, there even a pool thier.
Located in Traverse City, has rooms, has service.
Has multiple stores. Has a pool and hot tub. There is room service .
One of the landmarks of Northern Michigan! The tallest building north of Grand Rapids with great views, great food & great fun. There are three championship golf courses, four pools, four hot tubs a zero depth sprayground for the kids and 700 rooms, including condos with up to five bedrooms. There is a full Health Club with an aerobics room, a weight room, fitness classes, including yoga, five indoor tennis courts and three outdoor tennis courts. In the summer, during peak season, there are seven different places to eat. They run the gamut from burgers and sandwiches next to the pool, to fine dinning in Aerie on the 16th floor of the Tower. Spa Grand Traverse is a full service spa including hair and nail services for both men and women. There is even a day care for the little kids as well. It is a great place for a weekend getaway, a golf weekend with your buddies or a family vacation. The resort is located in Acme Michigan a beautiful seven mile drive a downtown Traverse City.
Decorated beautifully for the holidays. The rooms are nicely updated with great customer service. The Aries restaurant at the top of the tower is divine and refine.
Nice place but no mini fridge in room
Had a really good time good service friendly staff nice place.
Great getaway in the Grand Traverse area. Loaded with activities and amenities for every member of the family. Dining, shopping, golfing, tennis, swimming for the kids, and more all right on the main property. Easy to get to, and easy access to Downtown Traverse City. Highly recommend this resort
No fridge in my room!
Great views of the bay from the top floors!
Very nice house keeping staff.
The rooms were great in both the tower and hotel. Nicely decorated and very clean. The restaurants on the main level leave a lot to be desired for a multi-star resort. The service was good, the food wasn't as good. However, the specialty hot dogs in the bistro were pretty good.
We had lunch at top floor and had beautiful views over the bay. The kitchen prepared an excellent meal as well. The accommodations were very spacious and although i didn't have time to experience all the amenities of the resort, i had an enjoyable, relaxing stay
We had a great stay! Live music in the lobby and the rooms were real nice in the tower!
Great place good people the housekeeping staff is utterly amazing
The worst nights sleep I have had in the past year. (And I have stayed over 200 nights in 70 hotels since January). Up until 10pm everything was ok. At this point in time the paper thin walls of our 3rd floor room became all too transparent. A couple ladies cackled wildly over something being watched in their drunken stupor in the other side of a door that could join the two rooms was challenged for it’s loudness by what sound like a coed teen fight in the room on the other side of us. Hallway noise of people running and holding other conversations in the hallway would occasionally interrupt the noise of the other 2 symphonies of chaos. Not impressed and most likely will not return.
Beautiful area and view of the lake. People were great and amenities were plenty. Would definitely return.
Rooms are nce and the beds are very comfortable. Unfortunately the walls are thin and we could hear the people in the next rooms easily.
Wonderful place for our off-site event. The event staff was extremely helpful, accommodating, and some of the best I have had a chance to work with. Even though it was November for our stay and not a lot to do outside as a group, the team flew by and I wish it didn't have to end so fast. Highly recommend this place for your work off site meetings.
Beautiful location and facility. Staff was so sweet and willing to serve. My room smelled a little mildew like and was not great for my asthma, but other than that it was amazing
Ehhh, not too impressed, really
Seems like a very nice place, i was only there to get my iceman registration packet.
Hall was smaller than usual
Went to the Iceman expo. 2017 was a lot smaller event than previous years.
A great experience. The facilities are clean and the staff is friendly.
Attended the iceman bike race expo. The facilities were will maintained and clean. It's a large event and there was still plenty of parking.
Very nice place. Didn't stay for very long but what I saw was great.
Nothing extraordinary but totally adequate. Tiny toilets but comfy beds. Great views and community spaces located all over the resort
Location of the Iceman Cometh Challenge packet pickup
Good service at Aerie, good food. Booth was small.
Very clean and very professional
Very beautiful and professional
Great area. Lots of food, shopping, and things to do for everyone.

Awesome stay AWESOME STAFF!! AWESOME FOOD
Fun day with my man and friends
Great resort, very nice and comfortable, beautiful rooms, wonderful showers very large space..
Great space, great location.
Very clean and friendly staff
Very nice place
Stayed in apartment style condo on hotel premises. Can't recommend enough for families. Lots of space for kids. Full size table for meal time. Dishes and silverware ready to go and cleaned by hotel staff. Excellent service.
I have dinner with many vegan options, those we're delicious
I have attended conference at Grand Traverse resort. It was well organised and well arranged. The food is good. I got many vegan options too.
I visit here at least once a year and is always clean with excellent rooms and room service
The staff are all very kind and helpful. The layout can be confusing but with a map it is not too terrible (or ask one of the many staff throughout the facility).
I went there for a bachelorette party, stayed in a condo. Had a great time
This is a nice place to stay.
Reserve a room in the Tower to enjoy a memorable view of the area. Two queen bed room was super spacious with black out shades and a larger than normal shower. Food was spot on for our conference and the service was commendable. If you didn't bring your golf clubs head over to the pro shop to borrow some and head out to the range - next time I want to play The Bear.
Gorgeous views. Great staff!
Opulent and comfortable
Coko & C.
Not impressed! Toilet was dirty and the tub had hair in it when I first arrived. Dusty room, seems like it haven't been dusted in weeks. The shades have stains on them and they're very dingy. This hotel needs a new cleaning staff ASAP!! The breakfast menu card that is placed on the bed to order from was already written on, so I threw it away. The next day, the SAME menu was on the bed again. Why couldn't they just give me a new one??? Why did they get it out of the trash and put it BACK on the bed???? Disgusting!!! I'll never stay again!
Service is always great whenever we go there. The food they serve for our work events is very good. The staff is helpful and ask if there is anything that is needed.
Shops are over priced.
Came here for a class reunion. It was a very busy weekend in Traverse City and the hotel was booked...our accommodations we're great!
Very nice. Staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable.
We golfed at The Wolverine to celebrate my wife's bday. The course had beautiful views, and we enjoyed the open course. The staff was very friendly, and the drink cart was prompt all day.
Amazing program, Right to Life fundraiser. Nice dinner. Great waitstaff.
My stay here was fantastic. Very relaxing.
Staff is fabulous. Breakfast buffet was cold everything cold no heaters under trays. When replaced it was still cold. Not a fan of powdered eggs either. The accommodations in the hotel could use a refresh. Very dark when you step off the elevator. Of course the golf course was immaculate. The Bear. There is shopping on site and many different restaurants and bars. Did not get a chance to go to the spa. Next time.
Rooms were very spacious and clean. Shampoo and conditioner smelled really good. Staff went out of their way to provide my wife and I with some toiletries we forgot at home for no charge.
Went to dylans candy bar
Very nice place
Husband got me a spa package for my birthday. Got a back massage and my nails done. Staff was friendly, facilities are nice and super clean, overall had a great time. Massage was great, but I thought the nail package was over priced. The woman who did my nails was fabulous, and friendly, and did an amazing job. The package was pretty expensive though, and what i got was pretty standard in New York. Quick hand massage and rub down, and nails. In New York I would get the same thing for half the price. So other then the price being a bit much, i thought it was wonderful.
Very nice place to stay if you want to get away from the crowds in TC
Very nice and clean, the staff was very nice and helpful when talked to.

Great maintained grounds.
Stayed a couple nights for a seminar here. Accommodations were excellent, the food provided during the seminars was average at best. Don't be like me and leave your golf clubs home, definitely take those.
Grand Traverse Resort does a great job of welcoming guests and plenty of activities for all. The rooms are slightly dated, but you can still feel the effort of the staff to deliver a first class experience. The golf is first class all the way!
Cant get their billing right and front desk staff is anemic and uninformed. MAJOR communication issues, double charging multiple cards, and confusingly redundant marketing and customer service
Beautiful location. The resort had everything that I needed during a conference. I even enjoyed a yoga and dance class after a day of long work sessions.
We participate in the TBAISD golf outing every year. The Bear was in spectacular condition and the Golf and Grounds staff was extremely organized through out the whole event. The banquette afterwards in the Michigan ballroom was a little chaotic, but still a great end to a beautifull day. Can't wait until next year.
Fast and easy check-in/out. Great room and view, awesome shower. Good food
The absolute best place to stay in Traverse City area. Not only do you have fantastic rooms with outstanding views of the Bays, cherry orchards and the 3 golf courses.....you have an indoor and outdoor pool, and cardio room, a weight room, 3 golf courses (one designed by Jack Nicklaus), indoor and outdoor tennis courts, etc.....if you can't find something fun to do during your stay here, you are not trying at all! I didn't even mention the Casino.
Would recommend to everyone.
Very nice facilities in a fantastic location.
Spa and gym are fabulous. If you enjoy golf or tennis, this is the place for you. No trails or paths to walk other than the golf cart paths thru the courses. The indoor hot tubs are 90 degrees, but there are hot outdoor tubs hidden and for adults only. No fridges or microwaves in the rooms.
Spectacular Conference Facilities. Beautiful view.
Great amenities, very comfortable bed. Shower had no pressure. Hard to find a place to enjoy a cigar
It was a really nice place to attend a wedding. Very friendly staff, great food, beautiful setting. Wish I had more time to explore the area.
I've been taken here by frends several times and I have always had a lot of fun.
Old outdated but still niceish
What a disappointment to us. We we're so excited to get there. The bad news is; we we're very excited to leave !
Great MSUWC Meeting for State delegation. We are doing great work for our members in Michigan.
Oh my gosh this place has everything you can imagin. My husband and I had the best time and can't wait to go again.
Great views, nice rooms, good food!
Great resort with very helpful and friendly staff. Fitness center comprised of 3 rooms loaded with equipment. Didn't use the pools or racquet courts, but they were full of excited-looking guests. :-) Sweetwater's restaurant had great breakfast buffet. Also ate at Aeries restaurant for our 25th anniversary. It was fabulous, but slow service. Our server, Jenny, was excellent. The management was awesome, also. Gave us complimentary wine in celebration of our anniversary and we're very attentive. Overall, very much enjoyed the experience.
Great place to stay. Room was great and lots of stuff to do
Little pricey but very nice
Good aminities, tower higher floor has amazing view, visit torch lake on long weekend..
Great view from the the suite in the tower!
I always enjoy attending professional meetings at the Grand Traverse Resort, and wish to one day afford to attend the resort and spa as a guest.
It's an absolutely stunning property full of amenities and things to do. With copious options/types of rooms to stay in, there's something for everyone. Very simple rooms in the hotel, high end rooms in the tower, or various types and locations of condos for longer stays with more room. An excellent pool/spa/exercise area, in addition to multiple tennis courts, provide you with a wealth of options to stay fit and healthy. Lots of dining, shopping, and 3 golf courses help to complete this resort and earn its name. Not far from downtown Traverse City makes this a great place for a weekend getaway, wedding, or long vacation. Only "downsides" to the entire property are these: the hotel side is extremely basic, meaning that the rooms don't even come with traditional things like a mini fridge or microwave. There is the option to "rent one" for a fee, but I've come to know this as standard and was frustrated upon discovery of no fridge in the room. This side is also just plain basic in general, and mildly dated in my opinion. The few restaurants I have tried are all right, but have relatively small menus and are somewhat expensive when compared to the overall quality. All-in-all, Grand Traverse Resort is a great place to stay, but could certainly use some updating to make it a truly amazing place.
Wasn't that impressed with the accomodations
Went there for a business meeting. Staff was helpful in locating the people I was there to see.
Can't complain about 3 dollar margaritas
Very poor customer service, rooms and carpet not clean, front desk and staff don't have experience to accommodate guests..they overcharged my card and I had to call and 20 minutes on the phone to get it fixed, they didn't give me the room I requested (room with one bed for a family of 5 ) crazy ,never going back,,don't recommend it at all, worst experience
We booked a golf and spa package at the resort. We were very pleased with the experience. The cost was very reasonable considering all of the perks that came with the package - 4 people, 2 nights, 4 rounds of golf, 4 spa treatments, and 8 breakfast vouchers for just under $400 per person. The golf was excellent. We played the Bear and the Wolverine. Both courses were well kept. We enjoyed the Wolverine a little bit more because the course was not as difficult as the Bear. The ladies used the spa vouchers and enjoyed the experience. The two bedroom condo was perfect for two couples and clean. I would recommend this deal for anyone looking to stay near Traverse City, play some golf, and enjoy some relaxation.
Great breakfast on the top floor
Definitely caters to the golfers. Not a place I would go back to. I thought it was overpriced if you were there just to stay for a few days. I am an early riser and the coffee shop doesn't open until 6:30.
Management was bad and slow.
Stayed in the hotel section. Seemed over priced for what it was.
Pretty nice and spacious rooms!
Very nice hotel.
Very nice place. The condos and the grounds we saw were all very nice. And there is EVERYTHING there, food, pools, tennis, golf, day spa. Its like ya never have to leave......
Typical upscale going resort. Good but not for me.
Totally awesome and great employees!
Really nice place rented called Surf Side that resort was affiliated with
Very accommodating staff! Everyone is so nice and work for our happiness!
Great place nice rooms great room service!!
Clean. Lots to do, just make sure you bring lots of money
Spacious updated room for my family of 5. We did find three items housekeeping missed. Mag Toys under the bed, partial rolaid pack on bathroom floor, and an empty applesauce pouch behind the bed. Otherwise seemed clean. Shower was also roomy but the floor wasn't sloped so it didn't drain while showering. Would stay there again.
Great place to stay in Traverse City! It is about 15 minutes from the downtown area but totally worth it. Beautiful views and great rooms. I would opt to stay in The Tower. That is much newer and nicer than the old rooms. Great service and very friendly staff.
We got the room with a Bay view and a king sized bed for our honeymoon, and it's probably one of the most romantic places that we could have visited. We also ate at the arie restaurant on the 16th floor, and everything was just absolutely superb.
Nice resort if you golf. Spotty service... Many int'l servers who struggle with American standards. In tower 2 of 3 elevators broken. We took stairs for 8th floor room that was otherwise updated. When we arrived at airport we couldn't get anyone on phone to request shuttle. Tried for 15 mins just for entertainment value. Took cab. Spa needs modernizing, enjoyed but didn't hang around.
Very helpful staff. Our room was very comfortable and what a view.
Great food on the top floor
Very nice resort work private beach. Shuttle service is excellent.
Aero And Company F.
GTR&S is pretty awesome! A great, and classy, place to get away for a few days. There's so much to do in this very beautiful part of upper Michigan.
The rooms in the tower are absolutely amazing. Completely modern comfort in design. In house dining is also top notch.
Luxurious, customer friendly resort with plenty to do and beautiful scenery
Great place to host an event! Staff is superior.
Been attending conferences here for years. A bit pricey but normally good. Last time here room was dirty when I arrived. Toilet had skids in it, yes, seriously. Mugs in room were dirty, yes seriously. Told employee and they shrugged it off. Probably recommend someplace less expensive and better accommodating
Nice clean hotel with good food. Impressive golf course for enthusiasts.
Beautiful setting. Slightly dated hotel
The service was nice and the good was amazing

Attended the CAR Management Business Seminars. Beautiful hotel and resort with something for the whole family to do!
Beautiful and great gulf. Friendly service. Great location for a conference
Went to a conference here. Lovley place.
The rooms seemed run down for such a luxury hotel.
The resort is beautiful and the room service was phenomenal. I thoroghly enjoyed my stay.
Awesome family vacation!
Great place to stay and golf.
Mary Ann C.
Slept well. Quiet. Not cool enough. Comforter too large. Need thinner blanket on room. Way too expensive for what you receive.
Rooms need updates
Very scenic resort. The rooms/suites are a bit dated for the price point but good enough.
The hotel is outdated and there are not a lot of amenities. It looks like it hasn't been updated since 1990. Dining options are limited and sub-par. The best part of the building is the tennis area. Great pros and facilities.
Great place to shop and play. We loved the pool area. Very family friendly!
I went to use the pool. It was beautiful, but the water is very salty and the hot tub uses too much chorine
Was there for wedding at the barn. It was great
Awesome hotel with lots of activities but few amenities.
Outstanding place. Our yearly family reunion and the Grand Traverse Resort the icing on our vacation Thanks to your wonderful staff
Great hotel. Pool is salt water and our kids ended up with a rash all over their body.
If your a smoker and they smell any form of smoke in a room you rent beware, they will charge you an additional 250.00 dollars. I live within 20 miles but been taking my kids up there yearly for the Comic con. We always rent a room for the wkend, and I spend at least 500.00 dollars or more that wkend. This year, 2017 I rented a room that has sliding glass doors so it's easy for me to step outside and have a cigarette. I did everything possible to keep the nasty smell out of there room!! I would always bring my nasty cigarette buts in and put them in the garbage in my room instead of throwing it on the ground. Ive done this the previous years (rented the same rooms). This year someone decided I was doing this (smoking)in they're room and charged me the additional 250.00 on top of the 200.00 dollars I paid for the room. When i called to inquire about this, i was referred to security. I explained my side, but was told Too Bad!! Smoking Renters Beware!!
Very fun time
Very clean, easily accessible facilities. Smiling and attentive staff.
We had dinner at Aerie in the resort and it was wonderful. The atmosphere at sunset is gorgeous and the food was delicious. Our waiter was attentive enough that we never waited long for food or drinks but also let us enjoy our drinks and appetizer without making us feel rushed. Great place to eat.
Pretty property, but the rooms aren't fab. No refrigerator or microwave. They did a nice job for our conference, however.
The room alone wasn't nearly worth the price. They were clean and comfortable but did not even have a fridge and the shower quality was what I would expect from a bottom of the barrel motel on an empty interstate highway town. There are great restaurants and bars on site, and the people working there are great, but the city is a ways to go in a cab. For a conference location or golf outing I can see the appeal but in general for a northern Michigan vacation I can't recommend it.
The elevator is awesome , too rich for me though !
Great Place for a Conference
The rooms are dated, especially for what you pay. The food in the restaurants are over priced. We had a spa package and booked the service at least 6 weeks in advance and when I called to add to it, our Spa reservation had been lost.
Great golf resort
Nice remodel to the rooms.
If you go to traverse city, it is one place you should definitely consider. The views are amazing. The food was a little over priced for the quality. It was good food, but you are paying for the view. They appeared to be understaffed and a bit slow. There was no one in the restaurant and it still took 2 plus hours for dinner. So if you do go, bee prepared to have a long dinner and enjoy the view.
Beautiful resort with plenty of activities to keep you busy. The restaurants are top notch and they have some of the best fresh made pizza in this area.
Nice, updated and modern room with a view. Love the shower. Cute shops and food in the lobby area. Service is good, even though our room wasn't ready when we arrived, it has been a good stay.
Great staff, clean room, close enough to downtown Traverse City
Nice rooms and clean. Very polite employees
Nice, clean, and accommodating. Staff had always been nice and helpful. I will be returning for a visit. Beautiful resort.
Beautiful hotel with great view. Lots to do in the hotel if you don't want to venture out into the city. Only complaint is WiFi sucks if you're a business person.
Very nice, but was missing a view. Clean. Buffet was also nice.
Rooms were nicely remodeled but only on the surface... huge shower was a plus and beautiful but shower head was weak at best. Private beach and pool area was disgusting. Trash everywhere, I picked up more bottle caps than I could count so as to not have my kids (or anyone else) cut their feet. Restaurant was above average and really made the stay worthwhile and the only reason they got two stars. I would try other places before going here. Also, as a disclaimer... I really have never reviewed anything as I am typically pretty easily satisfied but I just thought people should know.
Tower Bay views are amazing.
Beautiful place but rooms are a little dated.
Horrible service from hotel check in to bar, the room lacked what most hotels have as standards and the check out was way below what I normally receive. Next time in traverse city I will stay at red roof or econo lodge. In my industry customer service is #1 And this place after several stays is way below avg. 4th of July weekend and so understaffed at front desk and bar...and bar closed at 12am which I hadn't even had one drink. Total waste of money and time and after housekeeping walking in on me taking a shower the check out gal said she couldn't present a receipt. On top of it all if you don't drive a Bentley then the parking lot is not for you. I gave this a rating of 1 and that is far beyond what I should have
Clean, pleasant staff, children's activities, affordable.
Horrible experience from the start. I'm writing this review around midnight from the hotels "hospitality" suite. This is a big room without beds meant for social gathering rather than sleeping. Our room is currently filled with second hand marijuana smoke from the neighbor. My wife and kids are restlessly trying to sleep on the cots the hotel provided us. They moved us into this "room" after overbooking the hotel, even though our reservations were made months ago. Our first night was spent in a ramshackle condo which smelt of mold which was not on site. We're staying here for an event held at the hotel and chose to stay here for convenience, this was the opposite of convenient. This leads us to day 2. We pack up and move all of our stuff (one kid is a baby and has a lot of stuff). The room is nicer than the condo, but it's dirty from the previous guests. The "beds" which were promised to be waiting for us are no where to be seen. Eventually the beds arrive. As the kids settle in for a nap we notice the smell of sweet sticky icky ( aka marijuana) permeating our room due to the door we share with the neighbors. We call the front desk and report the smell of "smoke" and ask for a courtesy call to stop this. They claimed that security was going to intervene, we never noticed anyone coming up. We leave for the day and wish only to get a good nights sleep. The baby is cozy in her pack n play, my older daughter had finally found the one comfortable spot on her cot and is asleep and then...I'm suddenly at a Snoop Dog/ Willie Nelson concert, AGAIN. This time the smell is even stronger. I call the front desk and request that they resolve this issue again. I'm informed by Richard that security is on there way up. 10 minutes pass, my room is literally smoky. I call and have to threaten to call the police to finally get a response from the staff. As I'm storming out of my room I run into security who give the neighbor a warning. Awesome. My kids are both awake, the baby is crying and they give this guy a warning. Give me a break. I tried to speak with the front desk in person about my dissatisfaction, I was unfortunate enough to speak to Richard again. Who's only response is to tell me that there is no manager that I can speak with and that there's nothing he can do to help, and then he looks down and types on his key board. Not even an attempt to apologize for the s#*% show they've put us through. I will speak with the front office again tomorrow and give them another chance to fix this. If they come through I will change my review.
Here for Dance Nationals. They are completely understaffed. Room service was 3 hours behind. Restaurants were very slow and food should have been better for the price. One kitchen for 2 restauraunts and room service is ridiculous. Spent 3 Grand here and expect a lot more.
A bit dated for the price. Too many children. They need more adult only hours for the indoor pools
The Grand Traverse is hosting a dance competition for the girls. The facility is excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. Scenic views make this an excellent destination
Thr spa was amazing i recommend a bay view room the help went above and beyond
Nice facility. A little removed from Traverse city, but great golf facility.
Chris Van H.
Amazing hotel. Really enjoyed my stay there.
Outside is underwhelming, but very courteous staff, neat interior, and decent shops and eateries.
Clean. Friendly. Shower heads and sinks are low. Needs a remodel. Bit pricey for older unit .
Wonderful condo and service. Would come back.
Great experience. The room was secluded, quiet and peaceful (The Shores). Package includes vouchers for 1 dinner per person and two breakfasts, which were terrific. Great value!
Really dope definitely comming back
Rooms where very clean food was decent but nothing to brag about. The pool and gold course where amazing and rooms had stunning views. Great attractions all around and 15 mins away from travercitys.
Very nice hotel, shops, restaurants, spa, and 3 golf courses. I love staying up here.
Meet a friend for coffee here. It was delicious since they have Leelanau Roasting house coffee. Everytime I'm in there it feels like I'm on vacation. Love it!
Superior staff and comfortable accommodations. Loved our stay.
Great resort! Just wish the shops were open earlier in the day.
The staff is pretty top notch. Always helpful and polite. They are very accommodating.
Beautiful rooms, good food, multiple pools and recreation areas within the resort
Aerie is awesome!
The Tower rooms have a beautiful view overlooking downtown Traverse City and the bay. The resort has very nice pools and hot tubs. A very relaxing getaway
Visited my sister she came up from Ohio and the rooms were nice
Fantastic resort. Highly recommended.
We had a bumpy start. Booked what i thought was the room we wanted but was not impressed. There are two parts of the hotel. I would recommend the tower rooms for their spacious bathrooms, rooms and gorgeous interior design. I would also like to thank the amazing staff for being so nice and willing to switch my room free of charge. We'll remember to get the correct room next time. On a side note: the facility is amazing and the view in the tower rooms are beautiful. The pool is a TON of fun also especially if you bring kids. Staff is very helpful and kind.
Everything is great. Staff is helpful. Nice rooms. Lots to see and do
Excellent accommodations and customer service.
Kyle Van S.
Wonderful golfing options.
A little out dated
A very nice place with a great staff.
Great rooms and great service.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Definitely an overpriced, commercialized, hotel but it's great for events. There is something a few times a year I attend there and I can't complain. Like their bar downstairs. Just don't plan on shopping there in the stores unless you budget for it.
It was great
Helpful, attentive staff
Amazing so clean. Great staff and food
Beautiful place with all the commodities. Great for a family stay or a nice getaway!
My friend had a wedding here and it was so beautiful. The 17th floor has an amazing view and the staff seemed very accommodating for their special day. I would consider staying here during the warmer seasons or the yearly special events to make the most of it. If you do not want to leave the resort there is an extremely nice pool and lll sorts of little shops and attractions here too.
Ken Mitchell S.
Very nice place. Nicely organized
Attended Cherry Capital Comic Con, the event was fantastic, and the venue was great as always. Clean, open, and inviting
This is a great place to hold any event the staff is courteous and helpful. The resort is gorgeous and all the little shops make it worth Wild
It was a really nice place, with convenient parking. I was only there for a few hours but it was very welcoming and clean.
We were at the Grand Traverse Resort for the Cherry Capital Comic Con. It was a good venue for a con. The place was super clean and there is a ton of parking.
Resort was nice, attended Comic Con, very interesting.
I visited Grand Traverse Resort for comic con. The place was beautiful, clean, well maintained, and all the staff I interacted with were friendly and courteous. The coffee was good too.
It was fun.
Regularly hosts comic con
Attended a convention here. They ran a great experience. Plenty of refreshments and clean facilities. Top notch hosting.
Nice big conference room. Needs some updating cosmetically.
Very clean and organized
Great place to stay with many food options in the building, but not so far from town that you can't drive to a restaurant or movie theater. Rooms are nice and a great price in the off season, with package deals throughout the year.
Thank you for being so welcoming to Governor's Hall for the C4!
The bathroom in the condo needed some work.
Staff is nice, beds are comfortable and clean. The rooms are modern and comfortable.
This is a great place to stay. I've stayed in both the tower and rented a condo on the shores. I would highly recommend the condo rentail if given the option. Close to traverse city and surrounding areas.
Attended a conference. Food provided was just ok. Hotel room was adequate for short stay. Pool could have been cleaned.
Wonderful place to stay
Beautiful hotel great restaurants
Stayed at The Shores condos. Lots of maintenance needed. There were boards pulling up on the balcony, dirty (disgustingly so) carpet, most light bulbs were burned out and the phone to call for service didn't work. I've stayed at the hotel before which is beautiful. This was a disappointment.
Wonderful establishment, lots of shops to look at, great staff and food.
Very nice brunch
Great amenities, including the spa, and surprisingly affordable packages
The high floor rooms have beautiful landscape views. We didn't have a water view, but it was just as amazing. The room itself was very clean and modern. The shower was HUGE. The staff were very friendly and professional. 5/5 would come again
Stay on the tower.
I attended a business function. The staff was very professional and the food was excellent. Parking was convienent. I always enjoy events here.
Had a buffet meal in the Governor's hall. Food was good but not great. Staff was polite and quick with plate removal and drink refills.
We had dinner at a work sponcered event. The food was delicious and atmosphere relaxing.
Great place to have a conference, different food venues, great coffee shop, and fun stores to boot!
We were in the governor's room for a work function. The food was great and the workers were professional and nice.
Food was great.
The shops are cute, but very expensive.
Much love to the workers who spend their time working at the Resort keeping it a amazing place to go .
Staff hooked me up with a toothbrush. I could hear the people in the next room because for some reason there was a door connecting the rooms. Spa was nice and was the hot tub.
The view from the tower room was amazing. The staff was quick to answer any questions we had. We didn't use the room service, but the menu looked great and the prices were not as extreme as I've seen in other room service menus. It is a family hotel so the pool and hot tub were full of kids, but they had adult only pool hours in the evening and adult hot tubs set outside for peole looking to get away from the noise. I was unable to enjoy the spa services because they were totally booked, but ours was a last minute vacation, so I can blame only myself. The only disappointment was that there is no bathtub in any room and I was looking forward to a long soak. They removed them all in the last remodel. So at the end of a long day in town, you can relax standing in a massive shower, but no sitting in a tub. When you do get off your feet and into the bed, it is really comfortable.
Old school ...fine for a conference event, but dated.
Beautiful hotel, with rooms I envy to have as my own! Attended as a guest at a conference. The beds were SUPER soft and comfortable. The bathroom is beautiful. The color themes are wonderful and pleasing. All staff have been very friendly. Even enjoyed the two fitness rooms. This is a great place!
Nice event space they have.
I expected more from a hotel room at a resort and spa. It was nothing more than ordinary and the room service menu left much to be desired.
Went here for an expo in the expo center. Accommodations are nice. The entire building is well maintained and his an element of class
Beautiful resort, quiet, Traverse City is a great town, lots of great food!
Had brunch, not so hot . Won't go again
Didn't go inside
Golf was great
Very nice, a little dated decor in some places, but very well kept, incredible service.
Great hotel and service. Lots of outlets for food and shopping. Would definitively go again.
Beautiful resort acme michigan. Great golf
Room is very nice.
Staff was very friendly. I was able to get to where I need to go.
The atmosphere was just so inviting. I loved the breakfast and the Rep at the concierge desk gave us a lot of great ideas on what we could do outside of the hotel resort.
Very nice place, lots to do
Was here for an event. Large floor space and can accomodate a huge crowd (ice man).
Beautiful property, love the exposition of Michigan history and heritage.
I went for the convention, had a great time
Very classy, great food!
Nice place, I visited to attend a trade show. Would definitely visit again.
Very nice resort amazing staff
Very clean, staff was friendly, quick service.
The corner room on the 10th floor was amazing. Shower was large and luxurious. Went for a couples massage and the hot stone treatment was the best! Food was fantastic and the staff was very welcoming! The front desk who checked us in, checked us out the next day and even remembered how many years we've been together and congratulated us on our Anniversary! What an awesome experience and we can't wait to go back!
15 yr Wyndham owner and RCI exchange customer here. First time ever giving a negative review... Main tower seems great. Wish we were there, but unfortunately they have us in Golf View which is old and run down. Our view is of the side of another bldg and the bed in the master is a queen. The pools and spa and everything is a (free) shuttle ride away. You have to drive or call/wait for the shuttle. No washer/dryer in the unit. Definitely get clarifification before booking this facility. Great for a place to stay while visiting other spots and taking day trips, but not for enjoying the facility. We called and asked for another unit and although the place is almost empty we were told we could not be moved to another unit or better spot. It would be okay if we were only here for a couple days, but we are here for a whole week.
I am staying at Golfview - the condos associated with Grand Traverse Resort. They are clean, decent in size, but in need of upgrades. I am staying in a one bedroom. The bedroom has a queen size bed which seems small for a couple. The mattress of the pull out couch is uncomfortable. The sink in the bathroom has been updated but the bathtub/shower is old.
Comfetable, relaxing with plenty of shops and services open to customers
Attended Global 2017 had an amazing time
In was clean, everyone was professional, all around great experience
This place is beautiful and so much to offer
The staff is very helpful and courteous. The rooms are pretty large and are quite comfortable. The sound proofing between the walls leaves something to be desired (could hear the family next door very early in the morning). The restaurants are always good.
I like the stores and location and views but the windows were dirty and beds were not comfortable.
Lots of fun for the family
Had a business lunch.
Clean and professional
I attended a special event that was hosted by the hotel and it was great. The room was clean, the staff was very friendly, and the food was fantastic.
I attended a murder mystery Dinner at the resort and it was so much fun! The group I was with had a blast and the resort staff were great. I would definitely go to another event there.
This is a very nice resort with many amenities. It's great for families too.
Nice, clean accommodations. Large pool. 3 hot tubs!
Spectacular location, very nice public areas including lobby, restaurants and bars. The room was average, clean, but out of date, didn't like bathroom configuration, impossible for two people to use, and unable to open or close bathroom door if someone was using the toilet.
Took the kids to Dylan's candy shop. What a fun little place. I think I had more fun then our kids.
Had a great weekend with the family.
Excellent service, great food, and clean and comfortable rooms
Excellent amenities. Comfortable.
Great hotel! Multiple areas to dine, shop, hold events, bars etc. Great pools and entertaining areas for kids and multiple indoor tennis courts. It's still cold during our visit so didn't get to check out much of the golf and surrounding things.
Great location! Beautiful view
Great place for family
Really nice, nice shops, nice views great conference room.
Rooms are clean and spacious
Wonderful staff and facilities.
Great rooms and hospitality!!
I have visited the resort many times as an overnight guest. I have always experienced superior customer service and the rooms are clean and very stylish. Great ammnetities and you can't beat the view from the tower!
Bumped us up a room and was very classy
Great coffee shop. Plenty of room in the event areas. Good shops that sell clothing, gifts& candy.
Shops close to early and open to late
The rooms were well maintained. The restaurants in the hotel are reasonably priced. They have a very nice pool area and gym.
Love it ,,, friendly environment,,, great staff,, lovely atmosphere!!! Will be coming back!!! :)
The condos are really nice
Comfortable rooms, offer condos as well, good location, good restaurants and bars, and nice shops.
Resort is decent, however the condos need updated.
Stated one night while playing in the BOB tennis tournament. The facility was great and room accommodations were also great. We stayed in one of the tower rooms and almost didn't want to leave the room to play.
Was just there for a conference, but it was very fancy, staff were friendly, and it was clean.
Rooms have been updated. Housekeeping needs to clean better. Bathroom floor needs to be swept and shower cleaned.
Awesome place! Nice clean rooms and service is second to none!
We were at the home builder expo. The room was nice and spacious. I have also stayed at the resort before and they make it a great place to relax.
Very cool resortv located on the East side of Traverse City
The event I attended was easy to locate and fun to visit
The Aerie lounge was very pleasant and the bartender was very accomodating. It was a surprise how quiet it was on a Friday evening. We will be back.
We had a great time. Would visit again.
Parking sucked, but otherwise a nice stay
Great experience! Our room was in the Tower and we have a view of the bay. The room was comfy and clean, had plenty of closet space, and a nice wet bar and sink. Our room came with robes and chocolate covered strawberries---perhaps because it was near Valentine's Day? There were plenty of options for those who wanted to exercise even though it was winter. We didn't partake, but there were lots of tennis courts and indoor gym equipment. The outdoor jacuzzis were nice, even in 25 degree weather. There's an indoor jacuzzi and two indoor pools as well. The service was great, too. We were offered 2 $10 food vouchers in return of not accepting housekeeping, though we declined. Some might not appreciate the distance from downtown Traverse City, but we didn't mind taking the 15 minute drive as the views of the water were great along the way. There's also a bus, line 14, that runs directly to the hotel and goes downtown. On a Saturday, it ran until 5:30 pm. I would definitely recommend.
A wonderful location, the resort has an amazing restaurant called Aerie which has wonderful food and a view to go with it that overlooks East Grand Traverse Bay. Also has a golf course and many other amenities. There is also a shuttle provided by the resort that makes trips 24/7 to Turtle Creek Casino as well.

Overnight in one of the condos. Not as nice as shown in the web pictures. Still comfortable and nice location
We traveled here for a conference. Huge place to walk around with lots of shop! Hotel rooms are big but the room bathrooms were quite tiny. The tower rooms were amazing with beautiful views!
It was awesome room and staff top notch
Nice restaurant with a beautiful view.
Excellent all around.
Beautifully updated rooms, good food, nice stores for shopping. Great time had by all!
Beautiful property with wonderful service. The resort was great even in winter when gold is unavailable.
I went here for a State Conference for my program and was really impressed with the facilities for a group of our size. They were very accommodating, the rooms were really nice though we could've used a refrigerator in our room. I loved the shops in the main lobby! My group’s only complaint was the food; not sure if it was catered by the hotel or not but the chicken we got for dinner was raw. Yuck!
Had a great stay. Room was amazing and staff were kind and accommodating. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great vacation spot!
Great room in the tower. Pool and hot tub were clean and fun. Ice cream shop is delicious
Spa was wonderful!
Every year Special Olympics Michigan takes over GTR and every year they learn and adapt to our group more and more. Every employee is beyond helpful and joyful at our huge and chaotic group. The rooms are wonderful and everything is always very clean. I would highly recommend this facility for any personal or group event!
So Awesome! We had a tower room for our honeymoon and the service was amazing for the entire weekend!
Service is always great and helpful! The rooms were gorgeous and extremely well kept! Thank you!
Very welcoming! Looking forward to an exciting week!
I love this place....Great hotel and a fun place to stay
This place is great, but for as modern as it seems, the walls are paper thin. Could hear kids all night
The Resort really is a nice place for a conference in Northern Michigan.
So much to do with little ones
So beautiful. The staff is extremely helpfuf. Clean. Luxurious
Staff is courteous, rooms are clean, and nice size. The food at our confence was very good.
fun place, massages are fenominal, gets a little crazy on the weekends when all the kids roll in, but for the pool area there is an adult only hot tub area which is usually enforced. The tower has really nice rooms and the restaurants are pretty nice. Stores aaree way over priced.
Beautiful place and excellent customer service
Had a very enjoyable stay. The shopping area is cute, rooms are well appointed with a large tiled shower, free (but poorly performing for me) wifi, 42" led. Our room had a nice view of the bay. The 16th floor restaurant is actually top notch for the region- cannot say the same for the lower level eateries, as one of them served me a strawberry chiffon cake with a still frozen core from the distributor. It is a fairly long drive to TC, about +25 minutes. Also, nowhere near the casion- though they offer regularly running shuttles for free, I have no interest in casinos- nor do I like to smell stale cigarettes, despair and old people dragging oxygen tanks in the lobby when I check in. If in the area again, we would stay here. But if we are hanging out in Traverse City, I would choose a closer room.
Love it, the inside is amazing, waterpark, candy store, gym, spa, EVERYTHING!!
Called regarding a stay and play golf package quote. The lady called me back with a price quickly. The price was a lot more then a competitor and that is what it is. I like to sit down with a few quotes from places and go over them with my pals. When I asked her to email me the quote I was told she doesn't have a personal email to send it from. I then asked don't you have a work email, she said I'm sorry I cannot email you the package quote. We go to different golf resorts to play different courses and enjoy different areas of Michigan. I'm not trying to ask other places to match prices. It's ridiculous that a price cannot be emailed to me with what it all entails. I'll be sure to not call again or to give a second chance. Terrible.
I asked for a room higher up in the tower and they gave us the best room on the top floor. Convenient parking and local shuttle services. Even a selection of places to eat on site.
Nice hotel with lots of amenities. There are a few things that certainly need updating, but the rooms are nice, clean and the tower has some great views if you're up high enough. Wife loves the spa. The tennis courts and pool are well maintained. I've only golfed one of their courses and enjoyed it.
The food was eh. The old part showed its age but was comfortable and roomy. I loved the response of the heater. Shower, had to turn ask the way on hot and then adjust down for a warm shower. Spa and gym facilities were wonderful. I highly recommend the couple's massage.
My wife and I are here on vacation and there is nothing that we can complain about so far. The staff has been nothing short of curtious and the entertainment of the surounding area is great
Clean, roomy, updated, comfy bed, great view, helpful staff, friendly people, good food,!
Beautiful building! Great rooms! Nice beds! We had such a wonderful stay here!
Good bed, bad shower. High resort fee for weak wifi
GTR is a wonderful place in acme, with great food and shirts
Friendly staff and beautiful room
From the limited time I was there, it was very nice and the staff was quite professional.
Everything had been wonderful
Great Service & Atmosphere, Guest Rooms O.K. (a little above average)
The Santa claus experience was great.
Staff helping with our office holiday party were helpful, very attentive and pleasant.
Enjoy the spa and pool area. Great deep tissue massages.
Nice classy place.

Excellent accommodations, great spa and helpful staff
Attended a Christmas party. Food and service was excellent.
We attended a Christmas party here. It was a lot of fun. The staff was excellent and worked hard. The food was also good. All in all it was a good experience, and I look forward to doing it again.
Kasandra Howell -.
Just went to a company Christmas party here this weekend and got to stay in a tower bay-view luxury room. The armosphere of this place is excellent and they really know how to do Christmas decor ?. My fiancé could'nt of picked a better place to propose to me. ?
Staff are great. Facility is well maintained
Minus one star for the worst possible wifi (had to disable it just to post this review). Minus another star for the peripherals. Everything else was great.
7th floor birthday party overnight, she loved it.
The room was meticulous with 5 star amenities.
Went for a 5k beer run. Seems like a nice place
Staff was friendly. Best pedicure me and my husband have gotten yet.
The staff was all very kind and friendly but I have to say for the amount spent on a couples massage ($200) was hardly worth the expense. It was a very light pressure massage and nothing spectacular for the price we paid. And we used a coupon even paying that much. But again the staff was friendly and no other complaints other than the quality of the massage itself. Maybe next time we'll have better luck. ;)
Went for Iceman Cometh. Very well organized.
Absolute best hotel experience ever.
Amazing location, wonderful accommodations
Very impressed with everything
Room was clean and very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful.
**WARNING TO ANYONE STAYING HERE** You should completely document/take pictures of your room upon arrival and absolutely report ANY minor blemish (very likely since the rooms are so dated) you come across, or else expect a $150 fee to show up on your credit card after your stay. The rooms have not been remodeled in some time, do not come with any conveniences like a microwave or refrigerator (I can't remember the last time I've stayed at a Days Inn or Best Western that didn't at least provide both of these). Place is extremely overpriced and underwhelming, don't bother - plenty of other very nice hotels in the area.
Went to this place in a conference for my job the week of October 10th, 2016. I was not to impressed with this place. For what you pay for this room you still have to rent a refrigerator. Most motels have refrigerators these days. Place is outdated except for the lobby area. Further, got charged $150 for a hole in a bathroom door that I did not do. It is room 531 so if you are in that particular room, please call the front desk and report it. They claimed they fixed that door but I don't believe them. Customer services was terrible. If I have a conference here again I will not stay at this hotel.
Great service nice rooms
Not that familiar with all the amenities
Beautiful fall colors surround the Resort grounds, close to grocery stores, and lots of shopping and food options inside Resort. Wonderful pool and spa areas.
A relaxing end to our fun girls weekend up north! We took advantage of the fall spa week special and got great massages for only $50..... Charles was awesome!!! I only wish the robes were a little bigger, I felt like I was busting out... Lol... But the relaxing ambiance was great.. We took advantage of the eucalyptus towels and sauna for a little more relaxing after the massages... Not our first time... And definitely won't be the last!.

We came here for our honeymoon and couldn't be happier with our choice. The rooms were very clean and the service was excellent. Everyone was very nice, professional, and friendly. We also got a couples massage, which, if that is your type of thing, I couldn't recommend more
Great place with awesome views and comfortable beds.
Room was great, clean and surrounding area was beautiful
Breathtaking view from our balcony. The rooms themselves were nicely appointed and everything looked great. Will definitely be going back!

We stayed in a condo, and the view was amazing.
Lots of amenities and good location. Price is a bit high for room quality.
Tap water tasted great! Nice hotel, clean.
Went to a wedding reception at GTR and it great. 100% all the way around
Beautiful hotel, with great service. Went to a wedding reception in the Governor's Room, which was just beautiful. However, or room in the basement were small and smelled of mildew; I'd recommend staying in the tower.
Beautiful place. Had room 465 - next to the elevator. A bit noisy. Triangular shaped room with a ton of windows which was neat. Powered blinds which too was cool except they jammed ;). Big, nice bathroom, mini fridge, lots of room. Great service. They extended our checkout till noon. Would gladly stay again!
Kaif jiffy hero gaining grub Frei
Great health facilities, friendly people, overall great experience!
Beautiful rooms, stunning views and great service
Excellent staff, amazing rooms and beautiful views
Great golf courses.
Stayed one night in the tower and 2 in the condos across the street. Beds in the tower were comfortable, room was fine. Small black bugs in both of our condos and staff didn't really seem to care to move us. Pull out couch bed was un-sleepable. Probably won't stay here again.
Great place to rest and vacation in Traverse city. 4 golf courses, great spa and fitness center with a water slide. Great value for price
Beautiful hotel with updated modern rooms. Nicest hotel I've stayed at for the price. Very unique and tastefully decorated. Most comfortable hotel bed. Wouldnt hesitate to recommend Would definitely stay again. Only complaint is that the lady that checked us in wasn't very friendly.
Have your conference or wedding elsewhere! Called twice to confirm airport shuttle (prior to the day and today) and reviewed my short time to make it to a rehearsal dinner at THEIR resort.... Reassured they'd be here and waiting, they'd monitor my flight etc. 30 minutes and waiting still... Update: Rude front desk to the groom, who needed assistance the day of his wedding (Autumn). Salon's hairstyle for a bridesmaid ($78 and a tip later) fell within 20 mins of her appointment; she headed back to get that fixed and was told they couldn't and to return 3 hours later.... Liz the wedding coordinator was great as was Ricky one of the shuttle drivers.
Visited the Spa with my husband. The massages were great but the relaxation room was awkward and uncomfortable. Waiting in a room with people wearing only your robe really wasn't relaxing for anyone.
The condos were clean and fairly large.
I got a relaxation massage, it was nice.
Great lobby and venue for a conference
This place has everyrhing you need for a one stop destination.
Great rooms, enjoyed the laid back approach of the resort and the employees are super nice
Great tennis program.
Beautiful resort with endless possibilities.
Nice Modern Rooms with great views, 2 indoor pools with play area and slide for kids, as well as outdoor pool. Great value. Further away from downtown Traverse City but was staying there to drive to Mackinac Island. Very pleasant stay. Nice beachfront park across from the resort with slide/swing set for kids.
Great golf course with a friendly staff.
Grand Traverse Resort and Spa has exceeded my expectations. The resort has a plethora of ammenities available to its guests, its location is prime for being able to enjoy what traverse city has to offer, and the service is exceptional. I wish to return in the future.
My tower room was very clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Staff were all helpful and pleasant.
They have very welcoming accommodations and staff. An awesome view of the Bay, and a renowned golf course in the "Wolverine". Kid friendly and hourly shuttles to the casino.
Played the bear golf course, fantastic course
Clean room, good lay out of room, large bathroom, friendly staff.
I played the wolverine for the first time and it was a nice layout but the course was in very bad shape, glad I didn't pay full price because I would have been very upset.
Very big, nice service
This is the resort to go to in Michigan
Beautiful grounds and great staff
Great location, services and clean rooms
Had a massage at the spa. Very good massage and nice to be able to use health club facilities afterwards.
The resort is well kept and equipped. There are multiple restaurants within the resort including a sports bar, breakfast buffet, and a nicer dinner location. The golf courses owned by the resort are very nice and a challenge for more experienced players. Overall, staying here will provide a pleasant and complete experience.
Service with a smile
I’m Board O.
Great location with fantastic amenities and beautiful sites to see.
It was at a spa/hotel, there were big rooms for conferences.
Nice place. Lots to do within the grounds.
Didn't sleep. Small room and it was loud.
I went golfing and I loved the course
We've been going here for years and it's always the best vacation. Lots to do, the condos are very nice and well kept, and it's in a beautiful part of northern Michigan that we are lucky enough to enjoy every year.
My family and I have visited Traverse City and stayed at the Grand Traverse every year for the past 7 years. It's perfect whether you stay in the hotel or a condo. Close to town, wineries, and breweries. 10/10
Comfortable rooms, beautiful location, service could have been better.
Golf course was fun
Only complaint was the weird speed bumps all over their grounds! And I wish I could have brought my dog, but the condos did not allow it.
GTR is an amazing resort. There is so much to between golfing, gambling, beaching and relaxing. Rooms are quaint yet inclusive of all things necessary to have a relaxing vacation. Specifically, ask for the condos are Hilltop as this is the best area of he resort!
Great room. Greta golf. Good food and beverage at surprisingly reasonable prices.
The staff was friendly, quick, and polite. The room was amazing, and clean. The amenities were wonderful. Stillwater restaurant was the only thing that did not live up to the level of excellence that the rest of the resort provided.
Lots to do at resort
Very comfortable beds, good food at the various restaurants, plenty of shops and services, and nice decor.
Great place, very beautiful inside and nice shops as well!
Our room was very nice...comfortable and well-decorated. However, I found 2 faults with the very attractive bathroom. There were no grab bars in the very large walk-in shower, and I think that could be considered a safety hazard. Also, although we were encouraged to reuse our towels, there was virtually no place to hang them. There was only one hook in the whole room...no place by the sink for a hand towel or a washcloth and no place to hang more than one towel. I also found the air conditioning in the entire hotel to be set at an extremely cold temperature...coming out of our room into the hallway felt like walking into a freezer.
The overall experience of the grand traverse resort was pleasant. I've only stayed one night so far in one of their condos, but the main building is great. Very clean, two restaurants inside, friendly service. There are several shops within the building like a candy bar and a few clothing shops. The restaurants prepared good food and everything looked professional and great until I got into our condo. The condo is a few minutes away in walking distance from the main building which has the shared facilities such as a pool and the business offices which are fairly pleasant. The condo itself is by no means bad, but it did have some issues in terms of upkeep. When we arrived, the walls had some marks on it, the beds hit the wall and banged when you would roll over on your sleep waking up my sister, and there were a number of small problems that all added up to make myself slightly uncomfortable. It didn't feel like a four or five star experience. The biggest problem was the water or the shower, I'm not quite sure. While taking a shower, one of my more relaxing activities, I was angered by the fact that at random times, the temperature weird get very hot or very cold. So when I'm trying to take a steamy shower, every minute or two, the water would get almost scolding hot, or rather chilly. Unfortunately for me, when it got chilly, I turned the water hotter, so it really hurt when the water went back to "normal" for that setting. Then I learned that you just have to take the average of the hot times and the warm times and make due. It was really annoying. One other thing, the condo seemed under furnished a tad. The rooms had no desk, something I really miss, with only a table in the kitchen to work on, which is often consumed by other members of my family. However, it looks like the last resident stole the desk or something because there's a perfect space for a desk, but there's no desk there! And not only that, but there's wires running visible on the floor from the desk to the tv which would have been perfectly covered by a desk. I don't want to say the condo felt like a motel, but it did. A nice motel though. No "premium" hotel experience and I've had much better experiences. So in short, the facilities are nice, there's things to do around traverse city, and it's a fun place to be, but the living space was suboptimal.
Second time here. Great experience both times.
A great resort for business and family. Great facilities with many amenities on campus as well as others nearby. Reasonable pricing for the quality of accommodations. Aerie is a must do for your dining plans.
The location was a bit far from the venue of the wedding we attended, but the resort itself was beautiful and the stay was amazing!
A strip mall inside, very disappointed after visiting every year decades ago.
Went there to see the Ginger bread house displays at Christmas
I was here for a two day work conference. Beautiful resort. Wonderful food. Very nice staff.
I loved it. Great service and nice clean rooms.
Awesome resort for the entire family.
My stay has been very pleasant and relaxing. I'm here for a conference, and staying on a middle floor of the tower near the elevators. I've been here for two nights already and have a good idea of the amenities. The room is very clean and even being next to the elevators, I can only occasionally hear a beep when someone calls the closest one on my floor. The shower is large enough for a couple to share, and ridiculously large for one guy on business. The view from my room doesn't include the bay, but is still very pleasant. I've taken advantage of the shuttle service multiple times for the airport and their private beach area and have had great experiences each time. The usual hotel wifi problems also plaque this resort, but at this point, I don't count on that at any hotel. My stay isn't over, so I may have more to add later on.
Receptionist was rude in giving is info on different rooms/rates. Hotel rooms due for renovation. No fridge.
It is a beautiful place, but it was to small for the event we attended.
The golf courses are very nice
Good stuff, very nice atmosphere
Really nice accommodations. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Would stay here again when visiting Travers City.
The place was nice but food is really expensive for a sandwich.
Very nice resort
I went to the Cherry Capital Comic Con, down in the... what is that. .. the governor's room. Downstairs. It was awesome. I liked the variety they had with the booths. They even had a steam punk booth. And the artists that were there... amazing.
Nice place. Only attended C4
I played golf, good rooms, nice food
We just returned from a 3 night stay as we attended the Michigan Masonic annual communication. Last year's visit wasn't great but returned with an open mind. I did request a ground level room, but was told at check in one was not available, and ended up on the 4th floor. We were in the hotel side not the tower. Our room in comparison to our previous stay was very clean and comfortable - though a mini fridge would be a very nice thing to have in the rooms. Day 1 we noticed our tub wasn't draining and thought it may just have stopper in. Day 2 we realize it wasn't and standing in 3 inches of water was not ok. We made a quick visit to the desk on our way out that am, the attendants both seemed unsure on how to respond and came back with a young lady Kari. She understood our concern and apologized, offered to move our room, I asked it just be fixed. She ordered it fixed and took care of our 3rd night. Her attention and concern of the customer and desire to resolve it as well as understanding the inconvenience was greatly appreciated. While we did not have a tower room, it was clean, comfortable and relaxing. All of the staff passing in the hall were very friendly, and greeted you with a smile. The difference of this visit and our last was huge, and removed that negative feelings I had previously. Again, thank you Kari for putting your guest first!!
Beautiful view of the bay from our room on the 12th floor
Air conditioner was not working, sleeping was difficult, also breakfast was horrible service.
The rooms on the hotel side were okay -- could use some updates. From the way it is marketed, I expected something a little high end. It may have been the weekend we were there, as they were hosting hundreds of soccer tournament families, but... For better or worse, was a little too family-friendy for a getaway spa weekend. I do have to say the spa itself was lovely.
The room was beautiful, but unfortunately the resort was overrun by young soccer players, who appeared to be completely unchaperoned. The noise level was unbelievable, and the pool was a madhouse. Rather unacceptable for an expensive resort. We did have one other complaint....they were rather stingy with toiletries. We were given one bar of soap, and it was about the size of my thumb, lol.
The room was modern and had a spacious living room and large bathroom with a walk in shower. It also had a fold out bed under the television that was awesome for my daughter. I was very pleased with the room. Our experience in the gift shops, was not as pleasant, due to the young clerk, who had major attutude. The buffet in the am was awesome and the staff were extremely nice. Bonjour! The pool was nice, although the outdoor ones were still closed, and they had so much chlorine , it made my throat burn. And overall good experience.
Beautiful facilities and clean rooms
Service is great and rooms are really nice since they've just been renovated. The pool area is great too.
Spent our wedding night here before heading to Mackinac island. Absolutely loved it, good food for room service, but very expensive. If you can afford it, it's fantastic!

Beautiful interior with awesome views.
There for professional training. Setting is wonderful but I would have liked to see an official booking trail all the way from traverse to the resort. I ended up having 2 sections, each about 1/2 mile that were not paved and safe. The Governor's room was really wonderful and accommodated us very well. The food was not good though, with a bagged salad consisting of nothing interesting or nutritious and accompanied by ranch or canola oil "Italian". The rest of the meal was small, useless and tasted like it was from a Sysco bucket. The rest of the accommodations are really nice and I would definitely head back again or even choose it over some other venues but maybe with the expectation that we'd have to spring for better food.
Visited for a jazz band performance. Building was very nice and clean.
I stayed there to go golfing. Didn't spend much time there, but I thought it was fine
Nice hotel with plenty of activities for all.
Great hotel be sure to book in the tower and not the offsite condominiums. Gotta drive over to access water park rather then just taking an elevator ride. Water park is decent.
I played golf there, I played spruce run and the wolverine 4/29 and 4/30. Good courses
Didn't stay at the hotel this time as we were there for a work dinner, but have in the past and the hotel is very nice and clean. Not sure if the hotel did the catering for our work dinner, but the food was cold and the fish was very dry. The staff was amazing though.
Beautiful place. We went to a bridal expo and it was phenomenal. Such an awesome place. We went shopping while we were in there and the Melissa and Doug shop was just so quaint.
Nice friendly staff very clean and beautiful
Chlorinated pool is ugh
Nice, clean rooms; prompt service; friendly staff
Beautiful hotel with wonderful amenities and the grounds are gorgeous...
Had a great stay, the rest root are lacking healthy options and portion sizes with protein are small.
This place has a small mall in the lobby it's really nice too
Room service is kind of messy but besides that the venue itself is very nice
(Translated by Google) Thanks, we got gymnastics. (Original) Dank, we got turnt.
Great pool. Spacious rooms. Good service.
As always it is a great facility with an outstanding staff. The shops closed a little early last night, but otherwise 5 star.
My experience has been wonderful. I have a great view and love the pool and indoor tennis court
Everything was great except the food. Wasn't bad, just not great like everything else.
Newly decorated rooms in the tower. Clean. I would not call this a luxury hotel though as some msintainance issues (i.e. cracked ceiling tiles, the existence of ceiling tiles in the first place, and a bad paint job) distracted from total relaxation. On a more positive note, very friendly staff, and a beautiful area.
You Got J.
It was amazing!!!
Great place for a conference or event and wonderful option for the family.
Alisha Draper T.
Enjoyed brunch at Aerie. It was nice to have a lot of options and the price was good. You definitely can't beat the view either.
Just stopped in to visit.
We were visiting a friend and used the pool. The outdoor hot tub is amazing!
Clean and elegant
Great place to hold a conference. Catered food is great!
Always a good time and great hospitality at the Grand Traverse Resort.
Mindy Maxwell T.
Great conference food!
The servers were very friendly, the room was clean, and the different amenities offered were a huge plus during our stay! There were several locations to socialize and meet other individuals here for the same conference.
Great place! Very beautiful. We were hired by CMU to provide photo booth service for their event and the staff at the resort were awesome and very accommodating.
We stayed in room 963. The very first thing you notice is how beat up the door is. The carpet is starting to fray next to the tile. by the mini fridge. There was quite a bit of hallway noise. We had to ask for a fan to try and drown out the noise. The bathroom was nice, beds were nice. Room was clean. The building is just starting to show it's age. Should've been a little nicer for what we had to pay for the room.
Went for a youth conference and everything was great
Clean resort and the staff is super nice!
Rooms are very nice. Big open spaces are enjoyable and you can spend many days staying .
Stayed the weekend for a youth retreat. Beautiful resort. Comfy beds. A++
It was a great time
I attended the resort as a volunteer for a youth conference. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating of our needs.
Grat place for a retreat weekend
I liked it was a little bummed being so far away from the main building but the hotel offered a free shuttle service to get around so it balanced out.
Entire experience was top notch. Fantastic rooms and Aerie has the best food and service. Highly recommended staying here. Overwhelming sense of luxury.
Stay is great. Hotel room is clean and new. The food in the restaurant downstairs is sub par and over priced.
So far good service! Have another two nights to go.
All the people there where very nice.
The resort is beautiful and the staff is amazing. My fiancé got the customized facial down in the spa. She said it was the most relaxing thing she has ever done. The whole experience was awesome!!
Great place to stay or visit. Will definitely choose again the next time I'm in the area
Great tennis courts and a lot of different restaurants to go to within the building
Staff was very friendly. Rooms were set up nicely for presentations. Taco lunch was delicious.
Beautiful place and staff is very friendly.
Great experience! Everything was expensive though.
Luxury accomidations. Aerie restaurants was hit and miss. Some items were amazing and others terrible.
My husband took me to the Grand Travers Resort and Spa for a Valentine's getaway and it was wonderful. The resort is located in a quiet and secluded area with lots of nature surrounding it. Our room was very nice and had a beautiful view and a super comfortable bed. We ate at the Aerie Restaurant inside the hotel and the food and drinks were amazing! The pool and hot tubs were very relaxing. I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic getaway.
Stayed here for speical olympics, it was terrfic. Would recommend to a friend.
Service was great. Clean hotel room.
Huge place, large mall like amenities for the guests. Aerie restaurant has the best views in the area.
Our room was decent for the most part but a number of small things were upsetting. There was not a refrigerator in the room to store any drinks or food we had purchased. The bathroom sink was clogged and the toilet seat would not stay up. And the tiny coffee maker in the room still had used coffee grounds in it from a previous guest. The elevators were both confusing and really slow and the food and drinks were overpriced. Overall it was not a relaxing place to be at all.
The Staff is Hott!
Room set up was very nice. Room was clean, but shower floor was not planned properly and water pooled.
Great place to stay
I went to the resort to have my hair done, it was very pleasant
Great rooms, great asses, kids are hot
Great rooms. Great service. Great Resort.
In and out trip. Not a lot of time to do much, buy we did check out the shops and pool. Room felt a little small, but all the staff seemed friendly.
Great pool & hotel. Highly recommend for families.
Love the GT resort and their amazing restaurant Aerie.
Well kept, luxurious main entrance, traditional style throughout the resort, plenty of amenities and outlets. Surprisingly quiet during my visit.
The stay was nice. A gentlemen at the pool was very rude to us and our kids as well as the front desk young lady that didn't want to listen to me about what room we were booked for. Love the new renovations.
As always, had an excellent time with zero problems. Will always recommend
The place is nice!!
We booked our room for the "shores condos" same day on our way to traverse to celebrate our first anniversary. We were instructed to make reservations at the spa prior to arrival, so we did. Once we arrived and recieved our room keys which were portrayed to us as "a lake view suite with a jacuzzi tub" we arrived at a room which seemed like a trashy hotel room far off the distance from the lake that we wouldnt have been able to viee if we tried. The room was filthy, the tub even had hair in it. We were not impressed at all and very disappointed. We arent usually the type to complain so after about 10 mins of discussing withone another my husband and I decided we did not want to stay and triedto cancel our reservations. The front desk was not accomodating at all and said "rooms are non refundable 8f not canceled prior to 24 hours" we tried to explain that the reservation was only made 4 hours prior to our arrival. They didnt care. The spa also would not allow us to cancel our reservations. We decided to leave any way and found an amazing room at americinn for less than half the price WITH our jacuzzi tub and a fireplace. We have now figured out that even though we never stayed at grand traverse nor did we ever attend the spa that they still charged our card full price for the room and massages. We will never recommend this place to anyone! Deff dont make any kind of reservations for special events such as a wedding anniversary. This place is a dump!
Staff was excellent, environment was fun and the people were great
I only visited for the Iceman Cometh Expo but it was a well organized event. Nice folks there.
The bartenders are very friendly. The rooms are nice. The water isn't hot enough forshowers. The candy store is great. Over all pretty good
Some hotels make me wish I was home. This hotel makes me wish I never had to GO home.
The condos were spacious, cozy, and clean
I had a horrible experience staying at this hotel in Michigan. However, had a wonderful experience at the same hotel in Grand Geneva, Wisconsin. The power went out during my stay, and when I called down to see what was going the receptionist did not offer to put me in another room or even apologize for this happening. I mentioned I was in a rush to get ready for meetings and she said they could not do anything (even though the other tower had power and she could have moved my room for me). Due to the power being out, I had to take a dark, freezing shower. My hair dryer was broken during the entire stay. It would smoke and smell like fire any time I tried to use it. Overall, I thought customer service was poor, especially compared to the other Grand Resorts in North America. I would not recommend someone to stay at this location
Booked a condo for 2 nights and will only be staying 1 because it's is by far the worst bed I have ever slept on. It's a bed for dogs I think.
I'm posting this review strictly for The Shores condos which are technically a part of the resort. First of all, even though it's a short distance from the beach club, don't be confused....it really isn't a beach, because there's no area of water to swim in. I'm used to going to Grand Haven, South haven & various beaches on Lake Superior & this is not even remotely like that. Second, the room itself smelled horribly musty & damp and was just dark & dreary. Not exactly how I want my room to be when I'm coming to relax. The bed was probably the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on (which is saying a lot considering I've gone camping in tents for the majority of my life). And every time you move or get out of bed, it makes a loud creaking sound. Totally don't recommend this place at all unfortunately, especially for the price we paid. +Update+ I am changing my review because after I spoke with the front desk about switching rooms they let us move to a tower room on the 10th floor. I think it may have been a suite, because it was quite spacious & had a balcony. The whole room seemed very clean, and everything was updated. The bathroom was GORGEOUS! The room had huge windows with amazing views. Didn't really want to leave!
Great place for all. Like ower. 3rd time
My husband and I were on our way to Florida when the flight got cancelled and we made an impromptu golf trip up to Grand Traverse Resort. We had the best time! Everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. Our first great experience was with Ben at the club house. He was the most caring and outgoing employee and when we came back the next day, he had our cart pulled up and greeted us like we had been friends for years. Our other great experience was with Lillian, our wonderful beer cart girl! I have met nice people in the past but it's very rare that you meet people that make an impact on your life. These two made our trip something to remember and we want to thank them from the bottom of our hearts. We will definitely be back because of these two.
Great place for family
We are currently staying here for my brother in law's wedding. I wish he saved his money and booked us at the Quality Inn. The room is kinda blah and nothing fancy. For almost $200 a night I would think I'd get more than a full size bed and an arm chair. The shower was a nightmare. The temperature was either ice cubes or scalding and the pressure was non existent. We got in late after tearing down the wedding and there was some ridiculous dude wailing away on his guitar that we had to shout to communicate with the receptionist. Our rooms were down the hall past the infamous Jack's where we had to navigate past a large crowd of noisy drunks standing in the middle of the hall. There was no ice machine in our wing so I had to go back to the inebriated zone to ask for some ice. I not only received my ice but a sigh and an eyeroll as well. We can't wait to leave and never come back.
the first time we stayed here... it was great. a few things that made us feel like guest services were not important. but, we made the best of it... and bc of that. we left happy. after all, we booked another vacation here, I called back to double check info. the reservationist says "mam, I'm not sure what you want from me!?" just answer the questions..? really? the first stay multiple breakfast we ordered as room service was "forgotten" the next girl I spoke with acted as if she did not car I was not happy ... I'll stay somewhere that the employees care how they are paid when and how... I work for a resort. I know the expected standards. go above and beyond. not just what is expected by your boss. you will be amazed at your response. btw, we booked a condo at "the shores" this time. and we were sold something that we were not even paying for. . . . . had I not found out from someone else. that I was not getting a private beach for us. and really it was a private beach for a condominium... I would have been. irate. thanks but no thanks. terrible phone service. and face to face service. thanks. I'll call comfort inn.
The views are great. The atmosphere is good. Things to do in the area are plentiful. However, when it comes to service, Immortan Joe puts it best.... "MEDIOCRE!" We stayed in a condo that had three bedrooms. Throughout the 2 bathrooms there was a total of 4 towels. Also, the sliding door to the upstairs bathroom was out of its track. When we finally got someone to come look at it, after three calls, he simply looked at the door, shook it, and said "it's fixed." Now, I am a pretty easy guy to please, but it does take a little more than that, especially at $800 for two nights. So if you have to stay somewhere, try everywhere else first. If not, this place will do, I guess.
We recently visited this resort. Our kids gave us a gift certificate to go here because I had previously mentioned I would like to stay there. I was quite surprised that there were no amenities to speak of. The first night we went to Jacks for a bite to eat and drinks. There was just one other couple in the restaurant . There were 2 waitresses and 1 bartender. It took 20 minutes to get waited on! And 35 minutes till our food(a crab dip) to come out. We left very disappointed. We then left to go to the casino. The bell hops and shuttle drivers were excellent! When we returned we had a few drinks in the lobby bar, Jason was awesome! Very friendly! We asked if there was any place else to eat in the "resort " he said it was late 930 and everything closed at 1000. Except Jacks that's open till 11. We told him that we were not happy with Jacks . But since we were hungry and didn't feel like going out we decided to give Jacks another try. Huge mistake! Same rude treatment and service will never recommend Jacks to anyone! Next night we stopped in lobby bar again and Nick was working. He was super great and fun! So was the girl helping him I did not get her name . Fun people. I also was surprised and disappointed that with the price and high resort fee there was no type of breakfast offered or at least a voucher for a discounted meal. Also we wanted to go to the beach/lake and we were told we had to be shuttled. That is was mainly for the condo people??? The only good amenity was the comfy bed. The shower was nice but didn't drain right because the drain was on the edge not the center. I definitely won't recommend or be a return customer . I also didn't like the hold on my credit card. I have stayed at many resorts and never had them do this. Also the other places I've stayed have offered free breakfasts and a welcome drink . Also we went to the outdoor pool area and we're going to grab some lunch and drinks since we saw there was a restaurant at it . But of course it was closed as well??? I understand it was a weekday but it is also peak summertime! Seriously ! We checked out after our 2 day stay and got a room in Traverse City for a lot less with a gorgeous view on the water ,free delicious breakfast , free Wifi , no ridiculous high priced resort view, free shuttle to casino and NO hold on my credit card. Very disappointed with Grand Traverse Resort.
Remodeled tower bathrooms do not have bathtubs. The shower is huge for no apparent reason.
First off, when I called and made reservation, they did not tell me about the resort fee. Also did not mention the nightly hold on my funds. When checking in, the guy was not friendly, didn't tell me he was billing me up front. Normally when I stay at hotels, I am billed when I leave. He didn't tell me how much he was billing me. And what it was for. I asked to break down the price, because on the phone hey said 684.00. He said 802.00. Didn't explain and I was so confused. I asked to pay with one card and rest cash, he said I couldn't do that. So I asked to put 700.00 on a charge and the rest on another, he then said he couldn't do that. Money is money, correct? I had no idea what I was paying for. Also mentioned something about for going the housekeeping and getting a 10.00 voucher, I said okay, then got no voucher, This place is nice, but for that kind of money per night, I expected a lot more. Hotel was nice. Room was clean, nice comfy beds. Drain in bathtub was clogged and very slow to drain water. Women, bring hair dryer, theirs is very outdated. Also coffee maker was terrible. Bellman was very nice and took all of our bags to room. Bartender at jacks was nice. Breakfast at sweetwater was fair. Pizza very good at jacks. So you know, when you stay you have a resort fee, so even though it says free wifi, you pay for it in that fee. All in all a great weekend trip. But overpriced. Need to work on the people they have working for them. Not helpful. Won't stay here again.
Stayed two nights for a conference. Room and corridors appear old and tired. Cleanliness of room was iffy. Coffee maker in room was disgusting, hair dryer quit halfway through my hair. Person at front desk said "I'll be sure to let them know that" On the flip side, waitress in the Bistro was awesome and the server who brought coffee in the morning was a ray of sunshine!
My Daughter attended a conference at the resort this past weekend. On Saturday night, she had dinner with her conference in a large banquet room. The server dropped a tray full of plates of half eaten spaghetti, salad, and chicken on her. Food was in her hair and her clothes were ruined. No one ever apologized, and no manager came to see her. No incident report was taken. She was embarrassed and had to leave the function to change her clothes. I left a message for the resort general manager two days ago. Still no response. Accidents happen, it's how they are dealt with that sets a facility apart. I am shocked and dismayed at the lack of professionalism and courtesy of this "resort." Please consider taking your travel dollars to a different resort.
In January 1990 My Newly Married Wife And I Went On Our Honeymoon And Stayed In the Tower Of The Grand Traverse Resort. So How Fitting Would It Be For My Wife And I To Stay At The Grand Traverse Resort For Our 25th Anniversary. I Reserved The Room For Two Nights With A Wonderful Gentleman Named Shane. I Spoke To Shane And How This Was Going To Be A Complete Surprise To My Wife. My Wife Thought We Were Staying At Another Hotel. And Boy Did It Work She Was Upset At The Start For Fooling Her. But She Got Over It Quickly. I Reserved A King Bed And Bay View Room View. So My Wife Could Have A Wonderful View. When My Wife And I Checked In With Ryan At The Check In Area. A Manager On Duty Came I Believe And I’m Sorry For Forgetting Her Name. Came And Stood Behind Ryan. Well To Our Surprise She Said Shane Mentioned That We Spent Our Honeymoon There And That It Was Our 25th Anniversary. She Said We Have Upgraded You To A Suite. So We Received The Key Cards To Our Room. When We Opened The Door My Wife And I Saw The King Size Bed. And Then We Saw Another Door Open And Walked Into The Suite Section. We Were Shocked And Could Not Believe How Much Room There Was. And On The Bed Was A Gift Bag Addressed To Us From Shane. It Was A Beautiful Silver Frame. Our Stay Could Not Be Described In Words. It Was Priceless. My Wife And I Would Like To Give A Big Shout Out To Shane, Lori, Ryan, Adam, Noah, Christine And The Entire Management For Such A Priceless Wonderful Gift. My Wife Says It Takes Good People With Good Hearts To Bring Success To A Business. Thank You Again So Much. Best Regards Ben And Lisa
Bought my girlfriend a spa package for her graduation and she loved it. She can't stop talking about it and tells her friends about it. Only downside was that I had double checked the price with them over the phone prior to making the appointment, then when the bill was charged to my card it was larger than what I had been told. Turns out they charged for the tips and fees for the spa workers even though my girlfriend had tipped them while she was there. Thankfully the staff refunded me the additional fees. I'm sure my girlfriend would love to go back but I would advise her and anyone else to make sure you get the out-the-door price before they hit you with any additional fees.
Great place just stayed in the tower for this weekend for the wine tours and it is beautiful rooms are great shops are great and friendly staff. You have to go for fall and check the scenery and make sure you stay in the tower for the views.
My daughter and I spent last weekend at the GT Resort and we loved it . . . .from the panormic view of the fall colors on the bay from our window, to the kind and accomodating resort team, to the resort shops, and of course, the comfort of our room was exactly what we needed after being on the go all day. We also had a spa day at the resort and it was spectacular! We are aleady talking about our next visit, exploring some of the resort restaurants and definitely visiting the spa again!! Loved it, loved it, loved it!
Poor service by the desk staff, rude and uninterested in assisting us. The property itself is unexceptional. There is very little luxury about it.
Fantastic resort. From the food, to the free resort wide wi-fi and the amazingly comfortable beds. What a terrific staff too. Very helpful and friendly. Definitely a place I will return to.
I have stayed at the resort a handful of times and this time the quality of the rooms/restaurants, etc. has gone down hill. Our room had some leaking in the bath and had exceptionally poor service in Jack's lounge. I guess the hotel had a few conventions going on but this is still no excuse for poor facilities. Thank goodness that our room was at a discount but for the money, I don't think we will stay there again.
love the room sevices
We stayed this past weekend and had just an excellent time as well as great weather. Our first night at the hotel we had dinner at Aerie restaurant and it was amazing! Loved the wine as much as the appetizer, dinner and Crème’ Brulee for dessert. Monday we ventured out on a wine tour of Old Mission Peninsula and enjoyed visiting the wineries and meeting folks that worked there. Headed back to the hotel at the end of the day to get time in the newer Jacuzzi. Much needed and enjoyed but need longer hours. Look forward to another fall trip and excited to plan a few winter trips and try out the some of the winter activities available.(Melissa Heinrich guest)
Spruce Run Golf Played 9/25/2013 With my GAM discount the round was a steal. The staff was amazing. From the bag drop attendant i felt welcome. Pro shop staff was very nice and the starter gave me an awesome overview of some of the more difficult holes to expect. Beverage cart was available 3 times during my round. Was a little pricy but cant beat the convenience. I dont recall there being a "turn" to stop and get something, but there was drinking water on several holes. I am a 15 handicap but a longer hitter but still played the white tees. If i manage to hit a fairway i hit long off the tee and some of the holes played a little short. i can hit like 1 in 6 drives 300ish and accurate, so i feel like a douche having to wait for ppl to clear a green when theres a 5/6 chance ill put a drive 100 yards in the woods. The blues play a respectable length. No holes particularly narrow but i wouldn't call the place wide open by any means. If you have a blind shot i highly recommend driving up to see whats over there. I was lazy and ended up losing a couple balls. Also pay attention to the pin placement and green slope tips on the scorecard and save half a dozen strokes. Being late in the season i had no expectation but the course was in great shape. The greens were fast and tough but rolled true. The only real problem was many ball marks unrepaired by players which was annoying, But at least fixable if they were in my line or whatever. Been years since i played any if the other courses in TC. I always expect golf to cost a ton but be superior conditions. This course was an excellent value and did not feel like i missed out by not playing one of the bigger names and saved cash to boot.
Made an appointment at the spa for manicure/pedicure. I was 6 minutes late and they called to tell me that I was eating away my own time by being late. I was not happy with the quality of the work nor the offerings of the salon. And then to be hit with the bill... I about fell over!!! My sister and I were going in to get ready for our other sister's wedding and wanted to splurge a little but this was almost a weeks wages for one hour of service. I am not at all happy and WILL NOT go back
Staying here now great tower room
My sister and I booked the 2-day spa package in early June 2013 and we received a free third night as part of the package. Breakfast at the American bistro was included as well. The food and the service was absolutely great. The Arie Restaurant on the 15th floor is top notch. We had an awesome view of the bay and a comfortable room with a large Jacuzzi tub. Our spa experience was awesome. We choose massage one day and manicures and pedicures the second day. We shopped in the Tower stores and boutiques as well as in Traverse City which is minutes away. We visited the Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas with the beautiful views of the bay and the orchards and vineyards. The swimming pools and gym facilities are outstanding. I cannot say enough good things about the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa and I will be going back again. I enjoyed it immensely.
I was so pleased that they have electric vehicle charging stations! Great staff and health club use is complimentary
I have stayed at this hotel many times, for days at a time. Although it is a far drive from Clio, it is totally worth it. It has many cool little shops, great service, and overall looks awesome. Not to mention I get a great discount.
My husband Ronald and I stayed in the Tower, in room 457 on 10/20/12. We decided to go ahead and splurge because we had never been there before and we had heard how nice it was. Everything was just beautiful until we opened the curtains to look out the window. The windows were filthy. You could hardly see out of them with all the bird poop on them. For a room rate of $259.00 plus taxes with a total of $302.44 per night I certainly expected the windows to be cleaned.
we stayed at the Grand Traverse Resort this past weekend to celebrate a 21st birthday. We had to stay in the much maligned hotel portion of the resort. the rooms have been modernized and upgraded and I had no problem with it although the tower rooms are still nicer. We booked spa services for all 5 of us and we had an awesome experience there, really felt pampered and relaxed we requested and recieved a late checkout because of our spa times. We ate at the Grille on the golf course and the food was good and the atmosphere very nice and casual. Although we had no problems that needed correcting the staff was Very friendly and helpful , the rooms clean. I highly recommend the sunday brunch in Aerie, we did not have it this past weekend but from previous experience it is awesome!!
"very modern hotel and facilities featuring a jack nicklaus championship course ""the bear"". "
Had a great stay in the tower portion of the hotel. Don't let the two bad reviews from people who obviously are just being a$$ holes steer you away. Great place, beautiful views(from tower), and great food in there aerie restaurant.
Oh how I wish I had read these reviews before booking! Oh how I wish I had paid attention to the red flags when I WAS booking!! My husband and I wanted to get away for our 15-year Wedding Anniversary, and the point was to go somewhere not too far from home (it's a few hours) where we could chill in a nice room, have a two-person whirlpool, and have access to an on-site spa and restaurants - all with the point of relaxing and not having to leave the property or be inconvenienced. I should realized the red flags I saw during the booking process were an indication of poor management and customer DIS-service.... Long story short: The booking agent misrepresented the room and amenities, said she would research to find me the best package including what we had discussed, and then booked me in a package that had a HIGHER price than all of the items purchased individually would have cost, all without confirmation. I blew it off, not wanting to let anything ruin our awesome weekend! Mistake... We arrived to a room a'la early 1990's with dried urine all around the rim under the toilet seat, a 3-foot deep analog TV, and a jetted tub measuring 18" by 30" in the bathroom behind the door - not exactly the relaxing 2-person tub-in-room suite the reservations agent had sold me on. We called to discuss with the desk and were offered no accommodation other than to be moved to an identical but (presumably) clean room. After much ado, we decided to check out and were asked to come to the desk to complete the process. Only AFTER that did the manager offer an upgrade (with an upcharge), but the room he wanted to give me was only for 1 night and we would have to move the second night. He then wanted to give me a free future stay instead of refunding my charges which technically should not have been processed yet anyway, and he told me that since the spa portion of our package was "so expensive" that he could not fully refund me. I demanded a full refund and told him again that we wanted to still honor our spa appointments and would pay cash for them. Now reading other reviews I am concerned we may still be charged by the resort, and will monitor that. We are at the Marriott Courtyard for $109 in a king suite with in-room whirlpool now. It's supposedly a much lower standard hotel as far as star-ratings go, but it is far above and beyond the GT Resort in all categories - the "resort" is dirty, needs much updating, and their management and service are not even akin to what I would expect at a roadside motel. Please stay at one of the other area hotels, even if you are attending a conference here. We have been to conferences in the past, and the lobby, shopping and amenities on that level are great - don't be fooled - it's worth your drive to stay in an alternate location.
