At Kavana Healing Arts Spa we practice the art of healing intention. We believe that in order to achieve healing, each treatment session must begin with therapeutic intent. Medical massage according to my definition, is massage that is performed by a licensed therapist that is knowledgeable in the human body, medical conditions and the effects of medications. What makes medical massage different? Unlike a general massage; our medical massage therapists start by completing a thorough client assessment, then set an intention based on the combined goals of the client and therapist, and then they create a massage treatment plan that is individualized for the client on the table. Often times no 2 treatments are alike, since an individual’s needs are not the same from day to day. Do you need to have a medical condition to enjoy and benefit from Medical Massage? No you do not need to have a medical condition to profit from the technique. It can help everything from general repetitive strain symptoms, to chronic/acute aches and pains, as well as medical conditions. Maintenance massage is a personal, on-going commitment to your health! Just as you use nourishing food, exercise and meditation to help maintain your mind and body in an ideal state of wellbeing, massage too significantly improves overall wellness.
