We had our wedding there and I cannot begin to say how grateful we are for the staff; from the valet drivers, desk to managers. Everything went smoothly and took a lot of stress off my shoulders. Great location but better people! Highly recommend. 10 stars if I could.
This was one of the best Swedish massages I have ever gotten!! Amy was so professional and I was so refreshed and relaxed after!!!

Well appointed hotel with skeleton staff due to Covid restrictions. Excellent breakfast at restaurant on ground floor. Cozy lounge In lower floor. Great location in Portland.
Really nice. Friendly staff. Nice robes and umbrellas to use. Nice shower. Wish it had a coffee pot and colder ac.
I dont really like this place
Excellent location, polite and friendly front desk and valet service people. Rooms were a bit on the compact side but the hotel amenities more than made up for it.
Excellent location, but the room could be cleaner and the beds more comfortable. And there was a leak in the bathroom that someone should have detected while prepping the room.
Our stay was just wonderful! Everything was lovely! We had a couple issues in our room and we called fixed immediately! Had a massage yesterday with Lauren and he was amazing! If you want a great massage don’t walk run to the spa at the Regency and ask for Lauren! The food at the Garden was great! We had the grill cheese as a late night snack and it was to die for! We will definitely be back! Portland and the Regency were perfect!
Gorgeous and great staff
We have going to the Regency for the past 9 year's and unfortunately this year will be our last. After a broken air conditioner and moving us to a room that and it wasn't close to what we had booked for our anniversary. Then the manager tried to make it sound like they we cutting us a deal but actually we paid 100.00 more than the booking price for the room they put us in. I was promised a phone call From the manager Mercedes to try to "figure it out" and Crickets. This is a shame because need always looked forward to going.
Beautiful upgrades to the lobby and rooms!
Great customer service
Poor customer service, a rude manager and a bunch of rip offs. I would stay far away from this over priced hotel that cares about money more then their actual guests.
Although the hotel is undergoing construction, it did not affect our stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I haven't stayed at many 'high-end' hotels, but this was by far the best. No matter what I needed I could call the front desk and they would help as best they could, for example we forgot a corkscrew and they ran a complimentary one right up to us. The rooms are amazing. We got lucky and were upgraded to the Governor Suite(their best room) for basically no reason... The spa was nice for being in a hotel. Massage was relaxing and reasonably priced. Suite had large tub with jets that wasn't shown in photos.
Location is really good . Hotel is a little dingy in areas but not throughout. Rooms weren't bad they were clean but the room we stayed in on the 4th floor the only floor with balconies faced thier parking lot and other larger parking garage not a great view. Restaurant on the first floor had really good food a nice band and good drinks. Staff was accommodating throughout our stay. Enjoyed our stay but would try a different spot if I went back to see the other choices in the area.
The spa facilities were wonderful and the beds super comfortable It’s a funky property in a very convenient location
I was checking in and overheard one of the front desk people nichole yell at which seemed like one of the housekeepers. And everyone in the lobby herd it
We were there for a conference and it was nice experience
Nice hotel, convenient to every thing 5 minute walk to so many places. Great staff at the front desk and the valets were great friendly and respectful. Would definitely stay again. Full disclosure though. The bathroom noise from the room above was incredibly loud and the hallway can be loud when others are talking or closing doors. Overall still great, clean, with quality linens and comfortable bedding!
We come here at least once per year. Whether we need to or not. Perfect Old Port location. Great breakfast.
One of my favorite hotels in the Old Port. Nice place, nice little restaurant and bar. Gets a little to pricey in the peak season, but good deals other wise.
Been going there for years always consistent good service and the most fantastic old fashion mahogany bar. Best bartenders of any where
Stayed here Dec. 28th with my fiancée and will never be returning. For a 4-star hotel, the Regency is mediocre at best. Everything from the lobby, to the lagging elevators, to the room itself felt outdated and stuffy. We had an issue with the key to our room (made 3 trips to the lobby to correct this as the front desk staff repeatedly gave us the wrong key). We were staying on the 3rd floor so this was a bit of a pain, especially since their elevators seem to be decades outdated and operated at a snails pace. The lackluster front desk staff were unapologetic and did nothing to compensate for a 30 minute fiasco which they said they would "take care of". Well... your lack of customer service resulted in 1 star review and a lifetime blacklist from this patron. Perhaps you should promote your bellhop to be front desk manager as he was way more helpful than any of your actual front desk staff. While you're at it, maybe upgrade your key system to the 21st century? (Pretty sure they are using the original keys from when the armory was established in the 1800s). Suffice to say, I'll gladly spend an extra $100 or more on a competitor to never return to this hotel. Portland is a beautiful city overall, but I would seek accommodation elsewhere. You've been warned!
Great location and nice hotel would stay here again.
Be wary of the bad reviews- EVERYONE we interacted with here were friendly and helpful. Decent rooms, good size, clean. Lobby and bar being updated. I'll come again.
WOULD GIVE NO STARS IF AT ALL ABLE. The people at the front desk would not honor what was advertised. Wanted a good birthday night out with my mother and I, and they told us the suite we were promised we paid for was actually $150 more. Extremely unimpressed, they did not honor what was advertised and front desk staff were difficult as well. The manager even raised her voice and yelled at my mother. Not at all what was advertised on google and their page, not impressed. We were also put into rooms right next to an extremely loud party. We also heard scratching in the walls as well as in the ceiling, maybe rat infestation. The only good part was the women working in the spa, they were extremely nice and very helpful. Everything else ruined our birthdays. Absolutely not impressed, and will never be returning.

My favorite place to stay in in Portland
Beautiful place, helpful staff and good food.
NOT PET FRIENDLY AT ALL!! Only when arrived at the desk, we discovered their pet policies: $75 fees + tax to clean the room (maybe they rebuilt it entirely), and mostly, we could not leave the dog alone in the room. Means that it was impossible to have diner or lunch in a restaurant, we could not visit any museum etc. And of course, they did not refund. Not thieves, but quite close. Run away, you can find much better in this town.
Great staff, great views!
One of the best hotel/hospitality experiences I've ever had! Truly. Fantastic staff, wonderfully clean rooms, and a great restaurant/bar (The Armory). Stay. Here!
We had a great time staying here and there pub had some great appetizers. Will definitely be back.
Very nicely decorated hotel that was converted from an Armory. Our room was nice , clean, and well decorated .The Hotel has a spa and restaurant; there is valet parking for and additional fee, which I recommend due to minimal on street parking.
Beautiful rooms and very friendly staff. Had the detox massage at the spa downstairs and it was the best 80 minutes of my life
Folks, my experience was not good. From the moment I walked into the hotel I was met with an overwhelming effort to show me I don't belong there. This was a first for me. I even tried to speak with the general manager about how things were going. I left him all of my contact info and he never reached out to me to discuss what happened during check-in and when I got to my room. To top everything off, when they finally gave me a room after two hours of stonewalling, I end up at the end of the hall and when I get to my room, directly above my door is a camera. There wasn't cameras above the doors to the other rooms and the camera can't see down the hall because it is blocked by a sign. On the other side of the sign you get to see me walk out every time I step out of my room. It felt like I was being watched. This is not the experience I was expecting to have on a company trip.
Booked a couples massage weeks in advance. I emailed 2x to make a minor change and got no response. Our minor change was not taken into account so don't count on them reading emails.
Over 3 years I stayed at this hotel 50+ times. The staff were always friendly and did everything to make sure that my stay was pleasant. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are modern, and it is always very clean. The location is close to everything, but noise is never an issue. I recommend this hotel to all of my friends and family.
Had a great stay at the Regency for a long weekend vacation. All of the staff from the front desk, restaurant, housekeeping, and valet were extremely friendly. The hotel is in an excellent location. I had originally planned to stay at the Westin but the proximately to the harbor as well as restaurants and attractions was perfect. One huge accommodation from the front desk was after my plans changed, I needed my hotel room for two extra nights and they were able to give me my same room even though mostly everything was sold out that weekend. Rooms were extremely cleaned and the balcony that came with my room was amazing. Bar and restaurant was great and food was tasty. If there is one nit pick that I would give, is that the valet could get backed up and it could take a while to get your car. I would recommend that they would implement a system that many other hotels do where you can call down for your car prior to getting to the lobby, but not a big deal. Would defiantly stay again, if only for the location.
Visited in September. Nice stay. Will definitely come again!
Great room with a deck. Loved it. Location is fantastic. An easy walk to everything. We had a 2-day staff meeting using their boardroom. Great, great, great!
Bre in the spa is magical!!! Absolutely the best massage I've had!
Beautiful hotel and friendly staff!
The Regency has 5 star service and location. The rooms are ok but not great. The air handler in our room was very loud - going on and off continuously. No experience regarding the spa. I have to take 1 star off due to the funky room but I like the hotel overall.

One of my favorite places to go have an enjoyable weekend since the opened in the 80's... dependable , consistent and reasonable for price.
Best kept secret in Portland
This place was amazing! One of the very best hotels that I've ever stayed in. They went above and beyond when it came to service, and everyone is extremely friendly. I couldn't believe that they even delivered the weather forecast and chocolates each evening! Such a sweet goodnight visit that left a smile on my face. This hotel is also central to so many things. We valet parked our car and just walked everywhere that we wanted. There are many restaurants, bars, shops, and even museums to visit. Even the cruises are nearby and easily accessible! They also offer room service breakfast which you can order in advance. While a little pricey, rest assured that it is absolutely delicious and is a great way to start your day. We even had a little seagull come by who saw our food and thought it looked so good that he started knocking on our balcony door! Made our morning and we were even able to take a video of it to share with our family and friends. I will 100% stay here again whenever my husband and I come back to the area. We spent the first two nights of our honeymoon in this hotel and it made our trip magical and so memorable. Thank you so much for your amazing service and for having such a spectacular place to stay!
Lovely hotel, staff is wonderful. Fantastic location. I love these historic hotels, just so elegant but all the modern conveniences.
Everyone , from the valet that took great care of our car, to the maids that cleaned the room were friendly & helpful. The room was clean & comfortable. Enjoyed some great meals in their restaurant as well. At night when relaxing on our deck, we saw the valet make sure everyone's car was locked. Little details make a big difference.
Wonderful accommodation from all staff. Check-in through Check-out was most enjoyable. Comfortable rooms and even a complimentary upgrade since it was my wife’s birthday. Spa services were so relaxing and worth every penny. And you can’t beat the location! Walking distance from all Old Port attractions. We even had breakfast on the wharf! Will return and will recommend.
My husband surprised me with a getaway for my birthday. He had planned ahead to have champagne and strawberries at the room for when we arrived. The hotel seemingly forgot about this as it was not in room upon arrival. It was not delivered until hours later, around six after my husband complained and called numerous times. On top of that they addressed the birthday card to my husband! Our room was dark and dingy but the front desk could not relocate us to a different room. We were also unaware they had renovations going on. The bar area smelled heavily of sewage on the first night we were there. The delivery of coffee in the morning was really nice, and the spa services were amazing. I really enjoyed the massage and facial. The only negative issue with the spa - the steam room apparently sets off the fire alarm.. I found this out by being scolded by an employee to keep the door shut after I briefly opened the door. This issue should be fixed and not burdened on guests trying to relax.
Staying right now, have two nights left. Nothing but impressive so far. The room is not outdated at all and has a wonderful mattress. Love the deck. Only been to the bar so far, drinks were great and priced for downtown. You can walk to everything from here. Would stay again.
Expensive for what it provided. We had a pet, were put in a room in the lowest level in the back that was far less of a room than we had stayed in previously. Facilities guy was great in helping us find our room, although front desk simply restated the directions three times when we had trouble finding it. Called valet service when we were ready to leave, got a busy signal for 5 calls. Once they finally got the car, the guy kind of waved to us and left the keys in the car with my wife saddled with suitcases. Wrote afterward to discuss with management, never heard back. We have stayed at the Regency for over 10 years and this was a disappointing visit. Up your game ladies and gentlemen.
(Translated by Google) Great hotel located, great breakfast with gluten Free options and very modern. The bed is super comfortable and large. The bathroom is great and is very original, because the bathroom door is at the same time the closet door. What they should improve the bathroom is the shower, very weak water comes out without force. The entrance is also fine, but it would be better with a revolving door. Otherwise the hotel has been super successful, because in the end with the location, which is in the middle of Old Port, we had the best restaurants, places to visit, the Art Museum and a cinema next door. Very happy, in addition the breakfast is ideal for a celiac with one of the richest gluten-free breads we have tasted!
I only leave reviews when it’s great, or so bad that I hope to save others from the experience. I’ve stayed here a couple times and will give them the great location. Aside from that, the rooms are at least 20 years dated, ceiling tiles falling in, comforter had a huge rip on top (in plain sight). I could go on, but my advice is to avoid this place and try something close by if you like the location. If management reads this, you should do something about room 433.
In the center of Portland and walking distance to everything! The staff is helpful and attentive and the rooms are fantastic.
Best spa in Portland.
I love the spa here.
Excellent staff and service. Very poor old rooms, lobby... And very expensive
We just got home last night from our stay at the Regency. The hotel was perfect, the rooms were clean and nicely decorated. We appreciated that they brought us coffee and tea and croissants the next morning. Valet was amazing end it was a great location, right downtown on a cobblestone street. We definitely recommend this place and we will be back!!
Always fun with friends and family .. love the Armory!
Love the spa and spacious rooms. Great location.
I was here for a work meeting in the hotel for 2 days and 3 nights. The staff was fantastic from pick up at the airport to dropping us back off there. Check in was easy and they have real big fat keys for each room. I had a king bed way in the back of the first floor (you enter on floor 2). The room itself was quiet and away from the business of the hotel. I had a view of a quaint brick street and the bed was so comfortable. Like being swallowed up in a cloud. They have turn down service as well as coffee and a small pastry every morning at your door if you order it the night before. They have a lot of cool little corners to the hotel and it has certainly been kept up to date in the guest rooms. I also spent a bit of time in the Amory Lounge have a drink or two and watching a hockey game. It was pretty late and not a hot spot on a weekday evening. The only draw back was probably the room we worked in which was in the middle of the building on the first floor and wasn't great to be cramped up in for 2 days straight. A great little spot centrally located in downtown Portland. An easy walk to all the amazing food, drinks and shopping you could want on a trip.
Old world charm with great amenities
Did you see Titanic? Remember the accommodations Jack had? That feels like first class compared to the steerage class D we had at the Regency in Portland. Want a room decorated this century? Look elsewhere. Don't want to have to reset a GFI switch to turn on the bathroom light? This is not the place for you. Request a fridge? You weren't planning on squeezing to that half or the room we're you? Don't waste your money. Half a mile down the street is way nicer and waaaaayyyy cheaper. The spa's not horrific though.
Perfect location, attentive staff!
Truly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay here again. Great location
Very well located. We had a noisy room and they very kindly paid our car park fee. Not sure if we'd stay here again more an event location.
My wife and I spent 2 nights here in March for our anniversary , Its perfectly located to everything for exploring if you want. Or you can have breakfast “in house”and hit the Armory lounge for great food , drinks and if nothing else go for the deserts. ??????
This hotel feels old. I expected a more luxury vibe than it has. The bed, on first glance, looks lumpy and unappealing--the comforter's filling is unevenly distributed--but it turns out the soft beds are very comfortable. You get an actual physical key on a large, heavy keychain, which is not the most convenient. The bath products are mounted on the wall, which is a nice effort at going green, but they were not arranged shampoo--conditioner--body wash (from left to right) as you might expect, so that was weird. Great location right near plenty of restaurants and bars, easy to walk to the water, too.
Comfy bed and very friendly staff!!
Beautiful beautiful hotel with a wonderful old world touch... Staff 100% goes above & beyond to help with anything you need, from a pen with a stylus to a glass of milk... Room 201 was impeccable!!! I was there for a 4 day wellness conference with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the hotel & staff accommodated our group of over 100 plus every day no problem... I’ll be back for sure!!!
WOW!!! All I can say is this place is a MUST destination. Beautiful atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff plus the 20 Milk Street restaurant on the premises BLEW US AWAY! If I could choose more than 5 Stars - I would!

IS A GOOD HOTEL, NOTHING FANCY
Great hotel. I love the coffee and pastries in the morning delivered in the am.

Great service and rooms are very comfortable.
The hotel is old (building and interior), but the rooms are nice and spacious. The bed was one of the most comfortable mattresses I've slept on. The location is perfectly located in the Old Port district. We enjoyed being able to walk out the door and be in the middle of everything.
We had a great stay. The staff was very helpful.
Room was excellent very clean and comfortable. The food was a little too expensive for the amount that you get. The drinks way too expensive. But everything else was great.
Great rooms and dog friendly! Service was incredible and always willing to lend an extra hand.
We came for 2 nights, Sunday and Monday. We stayed in deluxe room 330. Had 2 tall windows, awesome shower, and comfortable king sized bed. We paid an avg of $150 a night. Location outstanding. Dont think any place can beat that. Cobblestone streets. It's not a 4 or 5 star hotel, so dont expect high end furnishings and that new carpet, but be pleasantly surprised by the character. Staff friendly. Restaurant chef prepared meals that we talked about even the next day. Delicious. We utilized the whirlpool, sauna and steam room, free to guests of the hotel, that is in the spa. Very pleased. All in all a great time and a lot for your money. We shall be back when it isnt so cold!
Very charming! And super friendly staff! Love the bathroom!
I could live here
Location location definitely missed a night out or 2 just to lay in there awesome beds and eat pizza

Very helpful staff, clean and well kept accommodations
Great place for walking around Old Port area. Stayed for the UMaine game in January walked to the arena and every other place (Shopping, dining and waterfront) that I needed/wanted to go. Clean rooms, good service a little difficult to navigate building but its historic and worth it. Be prepared to valet park ($20 a night) because parking in the area is difficult and not worth worrying about.
Great location, great staff, clean.
My brother and I had been spending the weekend with family cause we are from West Virginia. On our way out to eat I got a message from my friend Joshua Salang and he said to stop by and I’ll assure you, you’ll love the atmosphere and the food! I believe in how far my young friend has brought himself in life and decided to give it a chance! This is my new favorite place to eat, I’ve never been so pleased to see not only the great people and good food but to see him fit in and find where he belongs! Great food great service you can’t find better!
Great stay. Impressed by the spa/hot tub/sauna. Valet crew is the best in the city.
I get massages done all over the world and whenever I am in Maine I make it a point to come here. Every time I have had the best experience and they do a magical job at working the body into bliss!
Always a great stay
Beautiful old hotel in the Old Port.
Princess Of The C.
It's just *okay.* The front lobby is actually kind of amazing in how dinky it is, there are no fridges in the rooms, and the drop ceilings look dated and a bit tacky. On the other hand, the restaurant and bar are really classy, and the service at the actual hotel is superb. On the whole, I feel like this place needs a major face lift.
Stately and classy hotel with the softest marshmallow beds, complimentary tea/coffee delivered to your room, and a perfect location.
Great hospitality and awesome spa. We stay there all the time. Always call and see the house rates. Sometimes better than your internet sites
Great amentities, wonderful spa. Foam mattress was quite collapsed on one side, though. Sensitive backs beware.
Always a beautiful stay. Has a superb restaurant, which has a modest selection but does every item wonderfully.
Had holiday dinner in their restaurant with the group of eight. They took real good care of us as service was spectacular. The food came out hot for all eight of us at the same time. Can't wait to go back next year for the holidays!
Ladies Brunch Lobster Eggs Benedict.?
Nice hotel. Great location for most downtown or old port activities. Restaurant was very good.
Highly recommend. Great service, comfortable in the heart of Old Port. Shopping and great food steps away.
The Regency Hotel & Spa in downtown Portland is a centuries old brick armory lovingly restored to a charming full service hotel. Excellent customer service, friendly and well informed is on duty to meet your every need. Very cool ???? Fitness Center and Spa, free WiFi, fabulous restaurant with some of the best food and wine ???? in Portland. Reserve one of the uniquely beautiful rooms or suites at least two weeks in advance to guarantee a room. Absolutely fabulous location only two blocks from the ocean with a unique shopping and dining experience nearby. Complimentary shuttle to the best restaurants, the best boutiques and the most amazing ???? views of the Atlantic Coast. Take sailing ??lessons nearby and ask the concierge to book a night of ???? theater. I’ve come to love ???? this uniquely beautiful hotel and never wanted to leave.
Highly recommend the Portland Regency.
Best massage ever
The service was great! The people were friendly and helpful. The room was great and spacious. We were on the main level. The only downside I found was that some of the fixtures in the bathroom didnt work great. It was hard to figure out how to use the shower temperature gauges and the bathtub sprayer didn't work. At times the voices were loud from outside the room as well. We were near the lobby area.
Incredibly friendly staff and excellent location. Rooms are well furnished.
Lovely hotel. Friendly, helpful staff with a graat atmosphere.
We went there for Thanksgiving lunch. Staff was very good. The main course too a little too long to get to us. My younger son was getting a little restless. The menu options weren't great for my young kids. But they managed. Overall a success for a family meal.

Beautiful spa, friendly staff. Couples massage was very relaxing!
We had an amazing time in the beautiful Governor's Suite. We loved the comfortable bed, fireplace, jacuzzi tub and deck with a view of downtown. My favorite was the morning delivery of coffee and pastries.
Got us in early after a long day of travel. Room we're neat, staff was friendly. Great experience!
From start to finish the service was exceptional and all the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The room itself was clean and tidy, and the complimentary toiletry selection was better than most hotels. Complimentary tea, coffee, and pastries delivered to your door in the AM made waking up early much easier than it would've been without, all in all a great hotel to stay at!
Love this place.
Great hotel convenient to my office
This place was totally awesome very clean. the staff was excellent the rooms were very nice and the beds were awesome. And don't forget about the spa must see and do.
Old world charm. You get actual metallic keys instead of swipe cards.

Professional and attentive staff, very clean with great location
Hotel is great! I loved having an actual key as opposed to a swipe card. Bed was very comfortable. Valet service was quick. Location for the hotel was the main selling point for me. It is in the middle of the best restaurants and shopping.
(Translated by Google) Very spacious and beautiful rooms, very good service and very central (Original) Cuartos muy amplios y bonitos, muy buena atención y muy céntrico
Good Central location. Decor a little dated but ideal if you're going to be exploring all day and need a good rate
Service was wonderful throughout our stay.
First night was great.
The location is super! But this hotel is very outdated in interior furnishings, decor, and overall ambience and services. And it is too pricey for what you get. Service good/friendly. Really needs an update. Would be a 2 star - 2.5 star hotel in most cities.
Beautiful place. The valet service was 5 ????
Attended a professional training session at the Portland Room. The accommodations were very nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Food for breakfast and lunch was great.
Comfortable, amazing staff
A great location, cool place. The first night we stayed there, we had a renovAted room with a balcony that was very nice. We came back several days later and got a larger suite, but it had not been renovated and was rather shabby. Nothing bad, just old. We had a great stay both times, and I also very much enjoyed my breakfast in the restaurant
Very comfortable acomadations the largest shower I've every enjoyed other than in my own home! 5 stars
First rate hotel .. I did not avail myself of the spa services. And what a great location!
We stayed one night and enjoyed our visit. I would definitely stay there again if we return to Portland in the future.
I only stayed over one night with my wife but they let us check in early and told us the best routes to get to places nearby
Gorgeous hotel, amazing staff, great rooms, truly enjoyed my stay
Charming historical hotel in the heart of Portland. Fantastic value for the price of the stay. There’s a full spa with hot tub, steam room, dry sauna and lockers. Free coffee and pastries delivered to your room each morning at the time of your choosing. Clean; pleasant staff. We were quite impressed!
The hotel is beautiful and is located in the very center of old Portland on a cobblestone street.
The server leeana was amazing. The drinks were delivered quickly and the fried tomato was awesome.
Very nice property near the downtown action. Room were very nice and friendly staff.
The massage therapist was so gentle and kind but gave a great firm massage. She was really nice and made me feel very comfortable!
Just returned home from a family vacation at our home in Franklin, Maine. Stopped overnight in Portland for our 35th wedding anniversary. Had a wonderful stay at this hotel, including a delicious breakfast the next morning. Got a call while on the Mass. Turnpike from Marilyn at the front desk. Seems we forgot a small item in the safe....my wallet!!! Being the professional she is, I just received it in New York this morning. Marilyn overnighted it to us. We cannot thank her enough. She went above and beyond for us. Will definitely make this hotel a stop on our way to Maine. If I could give this hotel more than 5 stars I would. Not just because of Marilyn, but because everyone there is just as professional as she is.
Classic and historic. Somewhat dated in areas, but you still feel classy here.
Perfect location in the middle of everything. We had a suite, which was roomy, comfortable and clean with the exception of a sagging ceiling tile in the bathroom which was kind of gross - but otherwise a very pleasant experience in a cool historic building! Would return!
Great historic hotel close to all the places in old Port
Meetings there, very appropriate, professional staff
Clean rooms and great service. Would definitely return for another stay.
Really beautiful, charming hotel on a little cobblestone street right in the heart of Portland. Beautiful, clean rooms, very friendly staff. Location couldn't be more convenient for getting to restaurants, breweries, interesting shops, and the waterfront. We did not try the in-hotel dining, but it looked excellent.
Really great place! Right in the heart of downtown -- the service is top notch, the amenities are excellent!
The rooms have been updated but the lobby is very dated. Service was friendly.

Basic amenities like making a cup of coffee is not available. For the price paid not economical .Rustic though???
Elegant!l! Historic!!! Staff and service are warm, friendly, accommodating. Restaurant's food and bar delicious!
Great lobby, rooms, bar and location. Not cookie cutter and reasonable, relatively.
This hotel was great! Loved the location.
The hotel was phenomenal if you enjoy nice atmosphere and an interesting site with historical significance. The room my girlfriend and I stayed in was gorgeous. The bathroom was spacious and very nice. I would describe the hotel as classy, but not expensive or posh, etc. Definitely worth a <$100 upgrade from a Holiday Inn in my opinion. The staff in the hotel was incredibly friendly and helpful. Not much more commentary than that, but we also didn't take advantage of many of the hotels' services available since we were only there for a night.
The hotel is perfectly situated in between all of the attractions around the old port. Our room while nice, was lacking natural light. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay.
Overnight stay was comfortable and as advertised. Rooms are pleasant with large shower stall. Staff were friendly and helpful, with a parking valet who worked valiantly despite the heat, trying to cool the car for us in the short trip to the door! Location is great, right in the heart of the old port but with a shaded courtyard that gave some respite from the streets. Soundproofing could be a bit better, but overall lovely stay. Would recommend.
Incredible location! Room a bit oudated, but bathroom brand new a suite had amazing balcony with views. Centrally located to everything.
The Armory Lounge at the Portland Regency Hotel and Spa has some of the most exquisite cocktails in Portland, for decent prices with friendly service. It's not one of the more popular establishments in Portland but it's up there with the best of them.
Stayed at the Portland Regency 06/21/18-06/23/2018 with my husband and 2 teenage daughters (age 15 & 13). LOVE the location since it is a 5-10 minute walk to great restaurants such as J's Oysters, Holy Donut, Standard Bakery, Bam Bam Bakery, Becky's Diner & Portland shops on Commercial Street. WE wanted to try out more restaurants but didn't have time. The hotel is centrally located, quaint, and staff is overall friendly. The room & bathroom was a little small to us (& we're a petite family). We had 2 double beds on the 2nd floor, which was quiet and clean. Parking is $20/day and must be valet which was fine with us. We'd stay here again just for the location.
Unsanitary! The rooms were visually appealing but very unsanitary! There was mold in the shower, dust and grime on pretty much everything. we even had them come and clean the room again but very little had been further cleaned. I would not recommend this hotel unless you want to get a disease or infection.
Great rooms..great location. A bit noisy at night due to local bars
Fabulous staff and beautiful place to stay
The Regency is one of my all time favorite hotels. It's so beautiful and unique. Super affordable and has so much character. Very centrally located. Awesome place for a night in the town
Our room was not even one of the 'good' rooms and it was so nice. The mattress and pillows were like sinking into a cloud, and 8 loved the fact that the shower products were in dispensers so we didn't have to share one tiny bottle of shampoo etc. And its right in the heart of the old port, we could walk to SO many stores/restaurants, we didn't have to worry about anything.
Fabulous Spa and location. The rooms are tiny, but very charming.
Hotel was very charming, unique. Hotel staff was amazing very polite and helpfull. If i could give staff 10 stars I would. The armory lounge was very nice great waitress. Real books on walls would be nice not wall paper that looks like books. Kinda taky. Our room was in part of the old armory unique window, that was covered up with curtains to make room look like every other hotel room you have ever been in. What could have been a very unique charming room was dulled down and bland. Very large room but unimpressive for such a unique building. I went to hotel to enjoy a spa tub suite to aid in back injury relife. Unfortunately unless you are under 5 foot you will not fit in this tub, it is definitely not a 2 person tub. The shower was awesome even though only 3 of the 4 shower heads worked. The bed was so hard and uncomfortable that my back is actually worse from trying to sleep in it. I'm a country girl so the old Port was nice to check out. But for relaxation I'm going to stick to the country.
Modern rooms, heated floors and bathroom and main room, right in the heart of Portland.
Had brunch at in the Armory. The food and beverages were very good and the room was very nice. The wait staff were very attentive and pleasent during our meal.
Very clean and close to everything. The staff can be a little loud outside of the doors.
Overall a very good experience. Staff was very on top of their game with meeting us in the roundabout, helping us with our bags, and parking our car. It was a bonus that they allow the car to stay in their lot even after checkout time as long as it's not in the lot for another night. That was very helpful. The rooms were nice. Nothing too fancy, but honestly, that's kind of the way I like it. I find some hotels go overboard with ornate and busy wallpaper and room furnishings to the point that it almost comes across as gaudy. I like the more simple look to it. The only complaint I had is that at night I was either too cold or too hot due to the heavy comforter. I tend to prefer the lighter quilts that most hotels use. These blankets were very thick and heavy. Not really my taste, but I also realize that's a personal preference and some people (like my wife) actually really like the heavy comforter.
The location of this hotel is extremely convenient. I stayed for a wedding and was able to walk to every event within 10 minutes or less. And I was amazed at how close some of my favorite spots it was (holy donut + several excellent cafes). Our room was so large and comfortable that we invited a friend to stay with us (pull out couch) instead of his reservation at another hotel. The bed was soft and super comfortable. And it was the largest bed I've ever slept in. We didn't take advantage of most of the services, however I used the hotel gym which was excellent. It had isometric machines, freeweights and benches, straight barbell setups, and cardio equipment. Easily the best hotel gym I've ever used.
Stayed at this hotel for a few days and really enjoyed myself. Rooms were clean, staff was very nice, and I highly recommend checking out the spa and getting a massage. It was awesome.
Great location, nice room that was modern but not too much so, and lovely service. Would stay again.
Great location in down town old port Portland maine
You can just walk in and ask to buy their professionally made desserts! Delicious!
Great place for a date
We stayed in the superior king room with a balcony. The room was very nice. Big bathroom, comfortable bed and it was great to be able to let in all the fresh sea air. There is a Keurig in the room and they offer free coffee service in the morning, but we didn't take advantage of that. The hotel is in a great location to walk to ask the nice shops and restaurants downtown.
Wouldn’t let me into my room on my wedding night since my name wasn’t on the room just in my wife’s maiden name. My name was listed on a different room my family was staying in that was reserved together and on the same credit card. Additionally they broke my door handle on my car while it was there for one night. Never will use them again. Never got a response from the management or an apology.
A great place to stay with affordable price
Very nice location. Only issue I had was that you can hear everything going on next door in addition to the running water pipes.
The hotel industry they say is dying, in the age of Airbnb and VRBO, how do you differentiate yourself in the market? Do what the regency does, be unique in your service offering, quality, and location. Every night we had turn down service which was a treat, speaking of, the chocolate on your pillow was a nice small touch which you never see in a hotel anymore. The room service coffee in the morning was also a perk I enjoyed. How about getting picked up at the airport when you arrive in Portland in a Lincoln? Little details that you wouldn't get from Hilton or Hyatt are what set this place apart! Be aware though, there is no free breakfast as some sites advertise. As far as hotel ammenaties are concerned, the armory lounge was a great place to enjoy a glass of wine after a long day sightseeing. The hotels sauna, jacuzzi, and steam room we're also perks that we utilized during our stay. I have to say, if I were to stay in Portland again, this would be my first choice!
I was charged $17 for a "complementary" coffee and when I asked them to remove it they transferred it my host bill. so I ended up paying it myself.
Lots of services available, valet parking, great location, on site bar, friendly staff. Would go again!
This place is ideal for first time travellers! They allowed us to check in early, making our first day in Portland easier, and immediately enjoyable. The room was clean, the amenities fantastic and the staff very courteous. We will definitely stay there again if we come visiting to Portland again.
Stopped in for an overnight while attending an event in Portland. It was a pleasant stay. The rooms are a modest size but nicely supplied with a fridge, desk, TV, Keurig machine was a nice surprise. The housekeeping wasn't great, our 1 year old kept finding trash in odd spots, old coffee pod laying around, etc. Staff was mostly nice enough. The only entrance to the hotel was covered in slippery ice and puddles, particularly for the course in Maine but wish it was a little maintained for guests.

Positive staff.lovely massages. The young man that works the spa in the evenings is an angel. We stay here and keep gym memberships here ????????fish and chips at pub and the big room upstairs with jaccuzi is lovely. Turm down service. Room service. All the goodies to feel good.
Fifth time staying here. Love it. Great clean rooms and friendly staff. Convenient location for walking around and they have valet parking for a $20 charge added to your bill. I think it’s worth paying but I might be clueless about this kinda thing. Coffee in the AM is a plus. We like to come here when we need a weekend away from life. Trouble free.
This is probably the third or fourth time staying at the Regency, we love it here. The rooms are spacious and I'm pretty sure my partner wants to move in for the shower. Make sure to stop by the spa for a massage or at the very least relax in the steam room and hot tub.
Was there for a meeting for the Junior League of Portland. As always, they did a great job hosting us!
We have been staying here 10 plus years!! LOVE ,LOVE, LOVE this hotel! Historic and cozy boutique feel.Very friendly, helpful front desk and valet. The rooms are immaculate, comfortable bed, bottled water ,Wi-fi included! Complimentary coffee and tea in the lounge/TV room OR delivered to your door with mini pastries!! Fridge on request if your room doesn't have one. Their restaurant, 20 Milk Street has the best Lobster Benedict AND delicious dinners! The Armory Lounge has great meals too! Both serve Piedmontese Beef hamburgers to die for!! More protein, less fat than turkey!! Top of the line cocktail and dessert menus .Ben , Ruby and John servers have been there for years! Beautiful full service spa! Last Mother's Day we were upgraded to the Governor's Suite!! Great place!! :-)
We had a nice dinner here. Interesting menu.
Room was nice, but the maid service came in unnanounced and when I questioned the front desk they didn't seem to see any problem with it.
Brunch at Milk Street is delightful. The small dining room and attentive staff make for a nice experience without spending a lot of money.
Nice hotel. Smaller rooms but very nice. No coffee in the room but they do have a service to bring it.
Vintage style golte. Nice rooms. Walking distance from hear of Portland

The Armory Lounge is a great place to relax and have a nice evening.
Easy check in/out. Clean rooms and comfy beds!
Very helpful front desk people. I believe there is a valet but don't quote me. Located right down town in the historic old armory building, very beautiful spot with a lot of shopping and dining and bars. Also connected to a very classy cocktail lounge.
Beautiful hotel and great location. Rooms need more soundproofing - any noises in the hall (talking, housekeeping, ice maker, coffee delivery, etc.) Can be heard clearly in your room.
The restaurant tries to be a fine-dining experience, but failed. If you get past this, the food is excellent.
Spacious older hotel. Well-appointed, with beautiful spa on-site. Located in the heart of downtown shopping and dining.

I had a great experience! The location is great, and the staff was very friendly.
Perfect location. Nice, quiet hotel. Very friendly staff. Very center of downtown Portland.
The room was dirty, the spa was closed without any notification, and the customer service was shoddy at best. The didn't even tell us what floor our room was on! We had to ask.
Great hotel with the best hotel bar.
Great location, solid hotel.
Great little hotel in the heart of Portland. Walking distance to many excellent restaurants
Staff are helpful and friendly at this this beautiful, historic, centrally located hotel. Literally steps away from great locations like The Holy Donut and the Thirsty Pig, the Portland Regency is in an ideal location for anyone visiting the Old Port section of Portland, Maine. While the accommodations were spacious, we were disappointed in the actual bed itself. The mattress had deep body impressions that made it very uncomfortable for both my wife and I to sleep, leaving us feeling poorly rested in the morning. This is surprising, especially considering the price tag of the upper-tier room we reserved for our stay.
Great location, friendly staff, good value. The $20 parking is nice when everyone else charges more like $30. The staff got our room ready a couple hours early with a smile. Nice historic building as well. I'll be back for sure.
Too expensive for the comfort of the room. There was a party on our floor. Didn't last too late but we weren't in the mood to listen to loose music.
This is a fully rennovated historical hotel. Clean and comfortable and roomy. Top notch location in the Old Port neighborhood within walking distance of many restaurants, bars and shops. Most rooms may not have a view of the harbor (two blocks in). Parking is valet which I don't care for but it was reasonably priced and quick -- it will suck anywhere in the Neighborhood . I would book it again.
Very nice staff and nice hotel. Amazing location.
Great short notice stop for us. This place is within walking distance of everything.
Stayed here 1 night in Oct. 2017. Location is great! Had a drink at The Armory...Nice ambience. Hotel staff @ check in were courteous and pleasant. The room was spacious but other than that. Ehh..Nothing fancy. There was a large blob of hair between the toilet and the sink in the bathroom. At first I thought is was a hair net. No. Hair. That was the first impression of the room and led me to believe they probably didn't give it their best efforts cleaning it. The bed was horrible for me. As were the pillows. They were about a mile high. The mattress was supposed to be fluffy and plush I guess but to me it was just very lumpy. All in all, I would not stay here again.
Had drinks at the armory lounge located in the hotel. Nice ambiance and friendly staff. Drinks were good and not outrageously priced. Waiter gave us a complementary snack plate which was nice
A solid downtown bar and spa experience if you're local and looking for either.
Very friendly, comfortable environment. Piano player in the restaurant.
Amazing spa and beautiful classic hotel
Excellent room, and very competitively priced compared to the other hotels around the area. The room was big with a large balcony area, and the bathroom was spacious. 2 Free bottles of water and a very nice gym, larger than what i usually see in a hotel. No breakfast.

Very nice place, exceptional service.
Nice, old hotel that has been modernized. Great location. Only complaint is the pillows which were rather lumpy but overall it’s good value and the staff are very friendly.
Great downtown location with excellent restaurants and shopping near by. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area!
Customer service was very poor
Excellent location! Nice place. Comfy bed. The minis 1 star is no in room coffee and the shampoo, soap, conditioner dispenser system in the shower
Your typical business hotel. Old yet charming looks
Nice old hotel well kept in great location near restaurants and shops.
(Translated by Google) clean and well maintained (Original) pulito e ben curato
The service was disappointing. Location is great.
I've stayed here twice, and the first thing I noticed both times is that the bathroom is almost as big as the room itself. That's not to say that the room is small, just that the bathroom is pretty large. The second thing I noticed is that the windows aren't floor to ceiling like most chain hotels. They're about chest high and THEY OPEN! That small little detail is something I actually love. If you're sick of the recycled air, just open the windows for some fresh stuff. On the ground level there is a pretty large bar/restaurant that competes very well with any other mid/high range place in the area. It's nice to be able to grab a couple drinks before heading in for the night and not having to go anywhere but upstairs to your room. The food is also good enough to grab on your way out if you don't want to deal with wait times or crowds at other local establishments. "Good enough" doesn't mean stop there by all means however. There are much better places in the immediate vicinity. The Thirsty Pig is quite literally across the street. Location wise, the hotel is less than a block from Exchange St which has most of the local boutiques you'd want to stop and shop at. As mentioned earlier, The Thirsty Pig is across the street, and any other place you'd like to go to in Old Port is no more than a 10 minute walk. I like to switch up the spots I stay in when visiting Portland, but The Portland Regency Hotel & Spa is always a place I'd come back to.
Lovely hotel. Setting & location excellent. Luxurious bathroom. Stuffy crowd. No fridge/micro/coffee in room. Friendly attentive staff. Free airport/Amtrak shuttle. Close to tourist shops and diverse dining options. Very trendy area, "Old Port".
A solid stay. Odd layout not explained by staff
We go every year on our Anniversary. It is like coming home!! The staff is welcoming and friendly.

Love this hotel! Wonderful experience and they saved our vacation! Stumbled upon it by HAPPY accident. Will ALWAYS return whenever I'm in Portland ME.
Rooms are really nice. Dogs are accepted.
Beautiful historic hotel, an old armory actually! Very quiet location near the harbor and all the greasy restaurants. Clean rooms and really nice bathrooms. Very comfortable beds too! Would definitely come back!

Perfect location. Low key

The perfect spot to stay when visiting Portland. You can walk everyone, hotel has an adorable entrance...enchanting!
Had an excellent stay at the Portland Regency. We were in a bind to find a hotel in the middle of the night when our accommodations fell through; the staff was very helpful to get us into a room late on the night of our arrival, and helped move us into a room with a king bed the next day as requested. I was so tired when we arrived that I forgot to give them my AAA card and the rates were higher than what I found online; I brought them the card the next morning and they adjusted the rates for me too, even after I signed off on the initial rates the night before. Nice, clean rooms and updated bathrooms. You can't beat the location for walkability, and the hotel was so charming as well. Would definitely stay again!
Best night of sleep I've had in a long time. The bed was super comfy. Had lunch at the outdoor cafe and it was a relaxing experience. Had the fruit and cheese plate and the chickpea sandwich. Everything was delicious. The service was good. I love this place!
A romantic place in a fantastic location. The Recency Suite will always be special to us.
This charming hotel is perfect for a date night on the town or a weekend retreat. Very comfortable accommodations paired with historic appeal make this an attractive, if somewhat pricey Old Port gem. In my opinion, the Portland Regency is nestled in the best possible location to explore Portland by foot. Fine dining, and great bars are so close that you won't think twice about leaving your car with the valet.
Best bed great deck huge jacuzzi tons of things to do!! Top notch.
The rooms were absolutely silent and easy to sleep in. It served its purpose, it gave us a place to shower and sleep. The hotel itself is confusing and almost like a maze. It was hard to find the main entrance and we ended up going through the spa and found the main lobby asking some staff. Overall it was a good hotel that I got a good night's rest in.
Clean, friendly, historic hotel with turn down service and free coffee/tea delivered in the morning. Right in downtown Portland so can walk a block to shops and restaurants.
Relaxed, old world vibe, good food, attentive service and nice location. A dog friendly establishment. One minor issue, beware of uneven cobble stones / pavers / tree grates. It comes with the territory, not ideal for mobility challenged individuals.
Most comfortable beds ever
Great hotel in downtown Portland, Maine. Short walk from the port, great food and drinks all around and a variety of shops to explore.
Lovely first visit so we decided to stay again. On our second time here, we stayed in one of the top suites. There were pulls in the carpeting, mildew in the shower, and a stained ceiling tile in the bathroom. My husband also fell ill and when I inquired about departing early and rebooking our last night for over the summer, I was told by the front desk manager we couldn't, nor could we cancel the last night of our reservation "as the reservation was booked as an entity and can't be changed". I've worked at a hotel front desk and know this is possible, as we booked directly with the hotel (the exception is third party reservations - those a hotel can't change). The only way we could be refunded the $350 was if she was able to sell the room. Highly disappointed this time around.
Cute boutique hotel. Comfortqble. Hated the constant knocking on doors to turn down bes or clean room. We put DoNotDisturb sign on door. Withon walking distance of great food. Old armory
What an absolute dream. By far the BEST hotel Portland has to offer. The beds are the utmost comfy with puffy pillows I wanted to steal. Plus the old architecture and design is dreamy. Closest hotel to the Old Port as well so that's super convienent! The restaurant inside the hotel was super yum!
Good service, reliable menu
My first visit was for the spa only, and I had a lovely experience. First was a pregnancy massage followed by a signature facial. I had called only 4 days in advance and was thrilled to be able to get both treatments booked back-to-back. Upon arrival I was greeted warmly and shown to the ladies locker/shower room. I was given a lush robe and was able to safely stow my belongings in a secure locker.Everything was clean and inviting. The massage was perfect. I am 14 weeks pregnant and the therapist was careful to ask about pressure and focused on my back/neck& shoulders just as I'd asked. Her professionalism made evident that she was very experienced, which is important to me. The facial was excellent and super relaxing as well! No complaints. Afterward, I was told to take my time and had the showers/changing area basically to myself. As far as pricing, I've done some comparisons and feel the Regency is certainly within fair/expected range. I will definitely visit again!
Great hotel excellent staff
Best place at the old port
Great setting in old Port, fantastic service and location.
We did a package that included dinner and breakfast. Wish we skipped that because the restaurant there, Twenty One Milk Street, is gross. The room was small but clean. The bed was super comfortable. The location couldn't be better, minutes from everything. They have valet parking for $20 but they let you keep your car there before and after you check out. I would definitely stay here again.
Friendly and helpful staff. Historic facility.
The rooms and the Armory Lounge.
(Translated by Google) Great, well attended, fantastic food, clean (Original) Ótimo, bem atendido, comida fantástica, limpo
Not the best massage and the massage therapist wasn't super friendly. Other staff was nice though.
Very elegant and a great location at the heart of the city
Disappointing. Paid extra for a "nicer" hotel but wound up in a basement room. Loud from all the service facilities above and near the room. If you open the window curtains, people on the street are literally looking down at you which seems to make people want to peek into your room even more.
Very high-end nice location downtown Portland close all the shops in Casco Bay Lines
Quaint, Great Staff, right in the Old Port.
Hotel is really nice, but the sound proofing leaves a little to be desired
A Hotel fashioned from an armoury; competent but dated decor, the room we got was enormous. Fair value though.
Great cozy place and awesome bar
My wife and I stayed here for 1 night and the bed was amazingly comfortable. Very nice hotel on the inside and the valet was the cheapest in town yet, $12.
Great location with lots and lots to do within walking distance, rooms are large, WiFi signal is horrible.
Comfortable hotel with an old school charm.
The staff was friendly, the rooms were nice and an easy walk to the charm and shops of Portland.
Complete Home Health Care Of New E.
Best stay in the entire Old Port
King bed room. Shower w/ tub. Actual keys to the room and not a card;
Another great historical hotel. If you enjoy old buildings with a story "between the walls" then this is a must stay. Room was clean and very spacious. Bathroom was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. While the spa was nice, it lacked some of attention to detail that most resort spas don't miss.
Armory Lounge is a great place to grab a martini and socialize
Lunch at bar was good. Quick service.
Rooms were great and the location is very central. Wonderful service and the concierge was very helpful.
The Armory at the Portland Regency is a great place to grab drinks and snacks. Service is top tier.
Amazing spicy Bloody Marys at the Armory
I'm a cab driver so my GPS data is kind of inaccurate for this type of service
Pleasant staff, great location, nice facility. Just wish my rooms windows were bigger!
Amazing and friendly staff. Food was great and hotel rooms were super. The bathrooms are freaking awesome and King size beds are everyone's dream! Restaurant and lounge staff were friendly and we're all like family. Recommend this hotel to anyone.
We just loved this hotel. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We were very happy to find this historic building was decorated in keeping with its age. It was nice to stay somewhere with charm, not the cold modern of most hotels. We loved the warm wood throughout. And every room appeared as if it had been just recently renovated. We had on different days enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel and it was very special. The food was excellent and the staff was helpful and friendly. We noticed the walls in the diningroom were covered with fabric--I suppose to keep the noise level down. We also enjoyed lunch in the downstairs lounge and that was a real treat. Loved the atmosphere, the staff and the fantastic food. For us, the hotel was very centrally located and we spent days walking all around. We were very pleasantly surprised by this wonderful hotel, with its personal service and we shall certainly stay there again. Thanks to the staff from Dawna and Tom
We went to Easter Brunch. 'have been before for other brunches, as well, and, as always, the service is great, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is inviting. 'never had an issue and will always plan to go back.
Great food and service
Had a great round of drinks and apps at the bar. Attentive and friendly staff.
Love to go to The Armory Lounge for a nice cocktail after a long week. The list is impressive, and they staff is friendly and professional.
We booked the Portland Regency for a night for over $275. I called to cancel it four days prior (the cancelation policy was 24 hours), and was told that the reservation was for "last month." I argued that it was just made a few weeks ago for an event we were attending in Portland on that date, but they would not issue the cancelation. They then told me that the entire charge would be charged on my credit card. They never confirmed the reservation, they never called or emailed to say we "didn't show," nor did they let us know about this charge that would appear on my next bill. When I asked, they said that they were NOT fully booked that night, so I argued that this did not affect their availability. They then offered 50% refund. I decided to call the credit card company to tell them what happened and they suggested I not take the 50% yet and to dispute it, which I did. When disputed through the credit card company, they lied and said I would have to show phone records (from months ago) to prove I called to cancel, but here would be not guarantees. So I emailed them explaining that I did not want to go to the next step of a complaint because of the time and phone company research it would and that I would take the 50%. They called me back and said it was too late to accept this. When I asked why, they replied that it was already paid by the credit card company. I replied that it was posted before I even started the complaint, for which she replied, "sorry." We travel a lot, have never encountered a hotel so unwilling to work with a customer or offer any sort of resolution.
Room was clean and comfortable. The shower temperature control was difficult to get a good temperature with.
Clean, old-world (with modern updates!) hotel in the heart of Old Port. Steps away from everything in this fun part of Portland. Thanks for the little touches like water bottles in the room and coffee, pastries and newspaper to the room in the morning!
In my opinion, it doesn't get much better than this. My girlfriend and I had spent the day in old orchard beach and ventured into Portland for the night. We did not have a reservation, and w/ friendly customer service and professional help, we ended up in a king sized bed in a suite w/ an incredible roofdeck patio. It was such a clean, beautiful room, w/ views that really conveyed portland to a t. Caroline, your contribution did not go unnoticed. It made our trip! Thank you! -gianno
Unless you are ready to splurge on a suit, standard rooms are decent but ordinary. Historic is bordering shabby. No coffeemakers or minibars. The only parking option available is paid valet. My car was severely damaged by the hotel valet attendant. Accident report filled in on a spot, nevertheless the hotel later denied responsibility and refused to compensate my deductible for the repair. Although accidents are rare, it doesn’t worth a risk. Plenty of other choices in town. Very bitter and disappointing experience.
I had a great experience staying here on a recent 2 day business trip. I brought my family with me, including 3 kids, one of whom is 10 months. The valet and front desk staff were extremely personable and helpful. The location is perfect, and the historic hotel building is great. We had a very spacious room with king bed and fold-out couch. They delivered a fridge to our room upon request. Complimentary coffee and pastries were delivered in the morning - enough for everyone! Unfortunately I didn't have time for the spa or fitness center, but I will definitely return to this hotel on my next trip.
The location of this hotel can't be beat. The addition of the balconies overlooking on Market Street are a really nice touch. The spa is a great place to relax and the rooms are great.
